I've been searching for a better version of this tune on You Tube than this one, and I'm happy to accounce, THIS IS THE SINGLE BEST PERFORMANCE OF THIS SONG, EVER. From the intimacy of the players, to the tasty solos by each, along with the swinging shuffle beat, this one gets my vote for the all-time greatest. Give me a Thumbs Up if you agree...
This Andrea Motis is so cool and talented. She plays the horn so great and sings excellently. I can’t turn her off. I love listening to a tremendously talented young lady. She makes me want to dance to her playing and singing and I’m 84 and if I had a partner, I would dance to all her jazzy tunes. God bless you Andrea. JP
The best of the best. My only source of music these days. America lost it along the way with their off tune huga buba talking music. So thanks for keeping the real stuff alive. Much appreciated.
Dig those little smiles. Andrea when Scott's in mid solo, Joan after the solos, and the drummer most of the time. These people should be running the planet. Thanks so much everybody. Loved it.
here is the lovely and talented Andrea leading that terrific veteran rhythm section, recreating yet another vintage jazz song. Over 4 million views and over 1,000 comments. 9 years later, she is leading some kind of experimental string band and doing songs that are hard to access much less remember. And she is getting maybe a couple hundred views and just a few comments. I miss the young Andrea who put her own stamp on the old songs.
I love Andrea's singing. She sings s bit like Astrud Gilberto, with such wonderful natural- ness. Like a young woman just singing a song for the pure joy of it! ❤
I came for the beautiful trumpet player. I stayed for a very awesome musician with an alluring demeanor and sound. I love you on this song, along with another talent, Haley Reinhart. It's been 43 years since I played my Getzen. Thanks
Fabulosos.!!!..me encantan..viven la música..y lo bien que lo hacen cada uno de ellos..y el alma la chica..que nivel.!! Gracias..escucharos es una gozada..❤
So Andrea is about 18 in this video. It's interesting to listen to her as a young teen, then at this age, and on her current videos. Her English gets better and better and so does her voice as she grows up. I particularly like this age where she still has some accent in her words. It's just so cute to listen to and puts a certain character into the song.
You nailed it! I also love that the organ drives this song with the perfect element of whimsy for music lovers, with the key-boardist (who never gets enough credit) really enjoying himself so much.
She‘s amazing and so talented. The way she plays that trumpet? Wow. Try getting one of those things to make a sound, let alone sound as good as she does! Unbelievable! Ausgezeichnet.
A little historical info; " My Baby Just Cares for Me " is a jazz standard written by Walter Donaldson with lyrics by Gus Kahn. Written for the film version of the musical comedy Whoopee! (1930), the song became a signature tune for Eddie Cantor who sang it in the movie.
To Joan Chamorro and all members and guest players of the SAJB, Merry Christmas and all the best, happiness and health for 2021. Thank you very much for the many musical surprises in 2020.
Watched this again Senor director. It is one of my all time favorites from SAJB. Flawless in every note and word and solo with a beat that makes you tap your foot or dance around a bit. Feliz Navidad y todos.
What a wonderful performance! Andrea's voice is so lovely and enchanting. 💕 She really showcases her talent not only as a singer but also as a trumpeter. She's such a gifted musician but you can say that about the whole band. Everybody shines. Absolutely amazing! 💗
Regardless of the song, Andrea has unassuming, kind eyes. I pray she is never corrupted by those who would exploit her world class talent for their own greed, and I pray she never lets the money be the reason for doing this. AMEN.
@@jimcarter6669 Just guessing less than a year. I believe the dad is her long term partner (don't know if they are married or not) who is Chris the violin player in their band: ua-cam.com/video/Ye9IM35Fppo/v-deo.html
If Jazz is going to become "Popular" Music ever again, like it was several decades ago, it will be thanks to such Beautiful Talents like Andrea! I'll keep my fingers crossed. Best of luck Ms Motis!
How many singers can act a song, as she does with that baby doll impersonation? How many can phrase, as she does, anywhere in the song’s form, ahead or behind, without getting lost? To say nothing of that quite wonderful trumpet solo, improvisationally always interesting, technically strong, and full of confidence and authority. At what-eighteen? This one is on her way to greatness.
Harry Last, not yet 18 on this album at the time of recording. For the rest in total agreement with you. For a first DVD album the result is brilliant. Andrea is sublime, vocally, instrumentally and in her total commitment. And the J.C. Quintet with Scott Hamilton, one of the finest saxophonists of the last few decades, are at their professional best. What a refreshing album playing these timeless standards in a contemporary style. In the pop market an album of this quality would sell in the millions, but this is jazz, what an injustice.......
Wow! They have officially blown this song away! I shudder still with excitement! Especially love this band right now above all the rest. Andrea has this one down. Love the organ arrangement as well and the whole band! Scott Hamilton is superbly on point. Perfect combinations & timing with a perfect tease frequency to enjoy supper by!
Y la trompeta de Andrea y la guitarra, batería, pianorgano, y la dirección y bajo del Sr Joan, Si todos de clase mundial y hoy a siete años, geniales, Gracias!
I recently discovered the phenomenon that is Joan Chamorro and what he created in his music schools in Spain. As a music educator I find myself so inspired. Especially to see so many incredible young woman artists coming out of the program. As for this recording, I find myself so drawn to the styling, to the wonderful playful collaboration of the artists on stage. And of course especially, to Andrea's amazing talent as a singer and instrumentalist. This recording has become one of my favorites, it lifts my mood with its exuberance and warmth. I am wishing all these great musicians health, happiness, prosperity and fulfillment in this difficult health crisis. Music plays such an important role, and this wonderful music educator, Joan Chamorro, and this outstanding band help buoy me up.
Joan thank you for keeping this great music alive, with these incredibly talented young ,musicians. Scott Hamilton is my favorite tenon sax player.I would be happy to have one tenth of your talent. Mr. Terraza is a wonderful pianist.
I love the way scott respects his fellow musicians when they take a solo and he gets into listening to the story they have to tell .And scott is such a great sax player (my very favorite) I see so many players in other bands take a solo and then when they finish , start chatting with another member of the band while the next person solos . I hate that ! I just love the way these videos are done with all the respect these fine players have for each other . And forget all that . THIS IS SOME GREAT MUSIC !!!!!
I don’t who I’m more envious of. The band getting to play with Scott Hamilton or Scott Hamilton getting to play with the band. Either way this is top notch musicianship. Respect to all.
One of the first videos I saw of Andrea, only about a month ago. Such sophistication and feel for singing these standards from decades ago! She's a gorgeous and supremely talented young woman (wonderful trumpet solo, following legend Scott Hamilton). Just keep doing what you're doing, Andrea! Now it's time for me to buy your CDs, including this performance!
Wow, what a sensational jazz group that I have ever listened. Everyone is so refined and yet so musically improvised. This group is really a gem. Just LOVE it.

Wow, how can such a young person have this much talent? And the entire band's performance. Wonderful!
God Only Knows!
There is a lot of work put in there

Masterpiece. I keep coming back to this lovely performance .Andria! You warm a old man’s heart

Love from the Netherlands, you have reached my country but more important my heart ! Thank you all !
I love the way Andrea lays off the beat. She has a great sense of timing.
You are so right. If there was ever someone who deserves a chair in the basie band, it's her!
Her timing is her gift from God. Afterall, she's the Joan of arc of jazz!
Not easy to do a song that Nina Simone did so fine, but you nailed it! Own style, own class. Big thumbs up from locked down Berlin.
Oh my Gosh I am in love with you all, warm feelings and greeting from the Netherlands.
Holy shit Scott Hamilton is so good. His fills between the vocals are perfect. Andrea is great too. Fine playing from these two.
This bookmark has burned a hole in my screen. Never tire of this tune, what an arrangement.
Of course she can...! She's a Great Talent and practice makes perfect! 💜
