I know this is an old video and might not get an answer but I’m looking at getting a second hand woodland’s scenic foam cutter is there anything I should look out for they say it’s all ok just needs wire changing hopefully could offer some advice cheers
Looks like a quicker, cleaner, and easier way to cut foam. I have a couple of questions though: 1) Does it cut *any* type of foam? Or are there foam brands that just need something else. I'm thinking of using the R-Tech or Polyiso insulation foam sheets one finds at Home Depot as a base for my layout. Will these cutters work on that type of foam? 2) How long does the wire last, and how much of it comes in the package? Ok... that's two in one question, but they're related. ;-) Thanks from Sacramento.
The Hot Wire Foam Cutter will cut all kinds of foam, BUT it was designed for use on Woodland Scenics Products only. We do not recommend using our Hot Wire Foam Cutter on products other than Woodland Scenics Products, because other foams may emit toxic fumes with melted. The Hot Wire Foam Cutter comes with 24” of Nichrome wire. We do not know how long the wire would last, because it depends on usage. We do sell Replacement Wire Item# ST1436. Hope this is helpful information to you, and Happy Modeling!
Hey woodland scenices, i would love you guys to make a quick vídeo con how to create landscapes for a beach setting And a sort of desert slash canyon. Please
I used this foam cutter, and I didn't like the activation switch, it requires thumb and index finger tension to hold the heat at a constant. Which strains the fingers, and the whole hand begins to shake when it comes to keeping the wire on the guideline; the push-activation feels awkward in the hand because the grip doesn't allow the cutter to maintain balance to cut the foam.
We only test our products for their intended use and, thereby, cannot recommend the use of this device outside of that. Also, the use of the Hot Wire Foam Cutter with our foam guarantees no toxic fumes will be emitted.
I'm trying to cut a foam bridge with this tool but the result is a slanted bridge. I ordered the guide hoping that will solve my problem once it arrives. I'm nervous I don't have the skill to adjust the guide to the appropriate angle.
You can do it! Try making some practice cuts until you're comfortable. Here are some tips that might help you. Good luck! · 1. Adjust the height of the wire on the rods by loosening and moving the collars up or down on the rods. Place the rod tips down on a non-metal, flat surface. Gently push the foam through the wire for a straight, even cut. · 2. Draw guidelines on the foam. When cutting, go slow and steady to be sure the wire stays on the drawn line to ensure a straight cut. · 3. To make straight cuts with the Bow and Guide: Set the Guide parallel with the wire. This will guide the wire through the foam and prevent a beveled cut.
Good presentation guys. An ideal tool. Just one thing tho. It's hard to distinguish the black portions of the product against the presenter's black shirt. On your next video update could the presenter wear a different colored shirt than the product?
Hello! We do not recommend using the Hot Wire Foam cutter on ribbon. We recommend using the Hot Wire Foam Cutter only with these products: Risers, Inclines/Declines, Profile Boards, Foam Sheets, Modeling Sheets, Road Riser, and Support Panels.
My foam cutter came with a pair of MUCH thicker wires and they're really long with some kind of washer end pressed onto them, I can't find any way to attach these to the foam cutter and they are too thick to fit onto the cutter. what is this?
