This is the most "economical" presentation of any type that I've ever seen. Every minute is so packed with information, I just can't see how anyone could absorb even most of it in just one viewing. This is my type of YT video: "Just the Facts, and NO Bull Shit !!!"
Great tutorial! I found a way to make the pattern repeatable if necessary- create fill layers at a density where you can get isolatable selections. Isolate the piece you are using and place them at a border of the image so it goes off the document. Duplicate the layer and transform it to the other side of the document (can use the transform tool, click on the triangle to transform by relative dimensions, then translate + or - the pixel size of your document). Do this until the borders are completely covered with these layers. Then it should be repeatable!
Good method, an old trick from back in the day is to use Filter > Other > Offset. You can enter a value to push the pixels across vertically and horizontally, then clean up the joins and you'll end up with perfectly repeating artwork.
Incredible technique! Thanks for sharing. Also there were a few tidbits I didn't even know you could do, like matting>defringe?? Amazing. Also had no idea you could copy paste layer styles to multiple layers at the same time.
can u please tell me or show me what you do when designing? do u use photoshop etc? highly interested. i have no idea where to start to look for such info...can u give me some terms that only ur industry uses?
Hey, you are my inspiration I'm learning so much from you but in this video, I'm stuck at one point please help me when I fill one layer with foreground color and click the new layer to apply a pattern, pattern doesn't appear what happening at this point please help me. a pattern appears on the fill layer, not an empty layer help me, please.
Thanks again for amazing tips. I do have one doubt = do I understand licence agreement correctly and after modification, pattern creation etc. I can use the artwork as my own design for prints and merchandise? thanks to anyone thinking it over and answering.
Thank you again for this tutorial, such an interesting effect! I am not able to fill my layer with transparent background. It only fills a white layer but not a transparent one. Anyone knows why? Thanks a lot!!!
great tutorial until you got to putting the different bird images together to make a single pattern. went so fast and didn't explain that part - can't figure out how you put all the images into one file/graphic and then adjusted them. : (
Great video but if there is no repetition it is not a pattern it's great tutorial for making large multilayerd textures. Textures can't do this - streamable.com/hhmgrf. Btw photoshop should update this script function, preview sucks if you want to distribute sth along the path with this method, and this is only way to make repetition with drop shadow in a row (only way to make a spine alike things and add them dimension) at least without using illustrator.

you make it amazing
but I think there is an option named shift or size shifting or something like that used to fill empty areas
I'm using CS6 and I don't get any options with Random fill. Was this something added later?
I learned a LOT - wrote down the tips and heading over to society6 to gain my well deserved customer :D haha. seriously tho huge thanks.
Sick!
my random fill doesn't work
Wooow cool videos

Good one :-)
wow!!!
Why is there a weird opaque layer after I do the settings for the random fill?
Thanks again for amazing tips. I do have one doubt = do I understand licence agreement correctly and after modification, pattern creation etc. I can use the artwork as my own design for prints and merchandise? thanks to anyone thinking it over and answering.
@@enzleycs1298 Awesome - thanks a lot.
Is it possible for repeated pattern?
Thank you again for this tutorial, such an interesting effect! I am not able to fill my layer with transparent background. It only fills a white layer but not a transparent one. Anyone knows why? Thanks a lot!!!
Maybe the image you are starting with is not a png with transparent background?
I've been trying this but it seems i cant make patterns on an empty layer, i can however do in on a later that has an image or a solid color
In the first FILL window, make sure transparency is UNCHECKED.
Really nice tutorial man... you´r amazing, but...toooo fast with the birds and not everyone are´s good as you pal
Hello, after subscribing to your mailing list, I get a black screen and I don´t get any emails from you. Just to let you know.
OK guys I'm not getting an option after clicking on random fill 😔
You didn't want to go with titling the video "How to create a deer apocalypse in Photoshop"? Probably for the best 😀
Haha! That's one way to get number 1 search rankings, but for quite a niche set of keywords I imagine 😆
