    These kids were rejected or pressured by their own parents, that is just crushing. No wonder they rarely trust anyone.

      >These kids were rejected or pressured by their own parents
      most of them meet at To-yoko only on weekends and go back to their parents' homes during the week. Some are really homeless because of neglect, but most of them are just like hipsters who are just admiring Toyoko kids through social media. Not that serious

    The feeling of being lost or not belonging exists in many cultures around the world. The most common similarity is the lack of alternatives and the advertisement that attracts young people. I'm guessing a social space would cost a huge amount of money over there and so the lower income miss out.

  • @spottedjellyfish5490
    @spottedjellyfish5490 7 місяців тому +322

    So much of alt and street fashion come from subcultures that usually look just like this. Community built off struggle, survival, with a growing culture and fashion amongst it. From Black streetwear, punks, the dolls, and s3x workers, people love the authentic look of these styles in their natural element but ignore the history behind the culture in favor of watering it down.
    These are kids/teens who are homeless, addicted and selling their bodies. Do they have style? Sure, but so did every homeless youth in the ballroom scene of New York. There's so many commenters with their "Japan is a perfect wonderland" glasses on that they even boast about how pleasant and clean these kids' struggle is. Y'all get lost in the "glamour" of the street life and forget that they're kids with nowhere to be but the sidewalk. As if as long as you're wearing leg warmers and a nice fit, it's "not so bad."

    A lot needs to change in Japan still. Parents and guardians probably have too little time and money on their hands to properly care for their children. Overworking is very common.
    I hope the kids are at least educated on doing the deed safely. It‘s just sad seeing such a young life get riddled with all kinds of diseases. I am from a country where prostitution is legal, but because it is legal it is also regulated. Not like Europe doesn‘t have its own problems ofc, human trafficking is still a huge one…

Alguns não tem onde morar, outros fugiram de casa, outros não querem ir pra casa, já outros se prostituem também ou são damas de companias para velhos (sem sexo). Essa é a parte mais zoada de Tóquio e todo mundo sabe.

      One other thing I noticed is these young ladies standing outside holding signs inviting men to these bars. Girls bars I guess. Where they entertain payers. Many they rip you off of money and allow touching of girls I guess. I never went. I never understand why they need the girls to stand outside in all weather conditions to advertise these bars when there are already signs posted. What is their purpose? They can't be paying them much. There has to be help for these young ladies. I'm in Japan now and staying in Ikebukuro. These maid cafes are only regular bars not like the ones in akahabara. I really do feel bad for them. It's not even funny
