    Justin is one of the most hit fighters in the UFC, unfortunately! He has 7.8 significant strikes absorbed per minute which is INSANE! For context, GSP is 1.4 and Islam Makachev is 0.87! This means he is guaranteed to have CTE at some stage of his life and that's sad because he is a good human being.

He doesn't struggle with forming words and sentences, he struggles with pronouncing them due to the nose and lip issues. A lot of those old school mma fighters are not doing great. Tito, mark hunt, Goodrich, Chuck Liddel, spencer Fischer. I know Julie Kedzie came out maybe a year ago saying she wants her brain donated when she dies. I get the risk though and why they want to get into fighting. The roar of the crowd, im sure nothing really compares to that energy and that rush but at the same time they have to know how limited that time frame is. Combat sports by in large is a younger persons game. Having an awesome 20 years maybe but a a shit back half with your brain melting away is a bit to much risk for me. It took my one and only amateur fight ending in me getting knocked out to the moon for me to realize this wasn’t going to be my career path. 😂. I’m really worried for Tony Ferguson. That fight with Justin was hard to watch and just the way Tony shook his head towards the end of the fight was absolutely chilling. CTE doesn't come SOLELY from hard shots or knockouts. Some simple google and youtube search will show studies illustrating any level of impact to the head, strong or light, will contribute to CTE. Lighter hits are even more dangerous due to the fact there is no stoppage until you're TKO'd or KO'd so a bombardment of lighter hits are actually significantly worse than getting knocked out cold from one shot and getting saved by the ref.

      @@JayLennox23 CTE is a well documented condition that has been known about for a long ass time, bro. It's definitely a real disease. There are countless examples of ex-contact sports athletes that are dealing with it currently. There was, in fact, a study that demonstrated positive brain scans in around 99% of a sample of deceased football players. You're fooling yourself is you think it doesn't exist.

      @@zekayman doesn’t, it’s junk science. You either have brain damage or your don’t. Brain damage is observable. Motor skills are damaged. CTE is about as real as Santa Clause. Brains scans post Mortem are about as useful as a used condom. It’s junk science

    • @zekayman
      @zekayman 2 роки тому +20

      @@JayLennox23 The symptoms of CTE are well catalogued, so it's easily observable from a symptomatic standpoint. The way in which it presents itself structurally is why it can't be easily diagnosed in the living. You apparently don't have any grasp of how brain scanning technologies or cellular structures actually work. It is officially diagnosed by physically examining brain tissue post-mortem. In case you weren't aware, we don't just disintegrate the moment we die. Every single suspected CTE sufferer that has chosen to donate their brain to science has been demonstrated to show tissue degeneration similar to dementia. It's real, there are countless living examples, and the science is sound. Many boxers, MMA fighters, football players, rugby players, etc. suffer with the neurological effects of CTE after they retire. Since you're apparently not aware, taking thousands of blows to the head IS NOT good for the brain. Plus, from a common sense standpoint, it would make no sense to have all of this peer-reviewed literature and supportive therapies for something that doesn't exist.
