Hi guys, love all those little hacks, convenience is a good thing, we’re looking at buying the same van as yours, can you tell if you’ve done many dirt roads and has dust gotten in? Cheers 👍🏼

We pick up our Emu Xpedition hybrid from the Gold Coast dealer in Feb '2022. (Hopefully). Looking forward to more of your videos.

Thanks John - been doing a few updates to the trailer and such. I'll roll them all into one update video soon.

How did you get the pole for the bunk? My kid is 55kg so I’d like to reinforce the bunk

Thank you for sharing. Great to get good ideas. How are you finding the Hybrid so far re towing and dust?

Tow's pretty well to be honest, I was expecting it to feel a bit more sluggish (if that makes sense). I can definitely tell i'm towing something, but it's pretty negligible on standard highway driving (14.5L/100 on the last trip with a Ranger).
Haven't had any issues with dust to date, there was a video where someone else had some issues but they have since been fixed. When we picked our trailer up the guys went through all the changes that have been made to address a lot of the dust issues that were in that video.
Super happy with the trailer to be honest 👍

Great video, with your bunks, how did you go about extending the bottom bunk so that is a proper length? We get ours in Jan

It won't be a full length single (it's a little shorter), but with the queen mattress pushed across just a smidge it makes that bottom bunk pretty much a full size bunk. We figure by the time our boys are that tall, there's going to be bugger all chance that they'll want to be inside with us anymore haha. It'll only be for overnight stops or if the weather turns real bad.

@@AshD_aus have you taken your emu off-road yet. We went to the tip. (Cape York ) so much dust +++++++ in the van every day. We destroyed our shocks had to fix myself. Lots of support from Emu ? ??? they directed me to Ironman 4x4 who did actually support me. And provided replacements when I got back to Cairns. Had to fix myself to get the van back to the bitumen. Thankfully I am pretty handy with tools so managed to get it back to cairns. I found emu apologetic and helped me and fixed all warranty issues but suggested that maybe the xpedition wasn’t meant to be taken that far of road?????? Anyway I,m out at Birdsville and nervous. Hopefully we can get back to civilisation.

Hey Paul - there's a bit to unpack here :)
Dust - We haven't had any dust issues yet. I know Damian from GetOutThere had some dust issues that Emu fixed up for him and have rectified those issues in the newer models. When we picked our expedition up they went through all the changes they have made to try and prevent as much dust as possible from getting into the trailer. Having said that, we have owned a few trailers in our time and they all seem to get some dust in them - especially when you are travelling up north and over those distances.
Shocks - I was under the impression (and im sure a heap of people will correct me if I am wrong) that the Ironman gear was pretty good. Without knowing you or your circumstances I can't really answer that question/statement. For us, we would make sure that we were driving to the conditions (those roads can be pretty brutal out there), have made sure to air down the tyres and have some really good roadside assistance/insurance :) I'm glad you got back to Cairns though so you could get the issues sorted out.
Offroad capabilities - Yet again, I don't know you or your circumstances. You and I both know that these import trailers aren't the lightest trailers out there, and potentially may not be as well built as others (I do know of a lot of local built trailers that aren't real flash as well though, its not a knock on import trailers), so maybe you can't take it to all the places that you want to take it. Yet again, I don't know where you went or anything .. so feel free to take this with a grain of salt :)
Emu service - I know a few people on facebook like to have a whinge about Emu's service .. but I think some of these people may have some unrealistic expectations of what they are entitled to. I know the times I have had to talk to the Emu guys about issues they have been quick to respond, very friendly, courteous and helpful and have sorted me out real quick. I personally have no complaints about them whatsoever, in fact their after sales service has been better than some of the other trailers I have bought.
These are just my views Paul - they may not be the same as yours and that's OK. I'm glad you've sorted your issues out, and I hope you get back to civilisation without any more issues. I also hope this doesn't tarnish you enjoyment of the trailer, because it's a pretty good bit of kit for the cost (I saw some of the zonerv trailers were over twice the price of the expeditions). Enjoy the rest of your trip and get home safely!
      Ash
