First time I've listened to the music of Nikolai Kapustin. Reminds me a lot of Lalo Schifrin. I played some of if for my wife and she said it reminds her of the music in the James Bond movies. As a classical music enthusiast for almost 50 years, this is not something I usually look for, but I like Lalo Schifrin so I will definitely seek out more of Kapustin's music.

@@Classicalmusicscores1984I was hoping this’d be his next recording, but Dupree mentioned in a comment a few days ago that Kapustin’s 2nd Concerto was just recorded and will be the next release.
Hmm... From a classical music perspective, Kapustin's music is a bit too noisy, musically lacking in structure, and emotionally lacking in contemplation.
@@vivvpprof lol. As far as I’ve seen of the sheet music he just overplays dynamics and tempo changes, but the notes being accurate make it still fun to listen to for me.
Yeah it's very unfortunate... I hope this gets another recording xD. As I'm aware of, this is taken from the world premiere of the piece, and I guess since they still don't quite know the piece well enough...
@@musicboiscores well i wouldnt be so harsh. this is an incredibly difficult work and the orchestra is the orchestra of a college/university, so they are not professionals.
@@Nooticus That is true, though I do still hope this gets another recording. If you went into the commentary to understand what is happening with the rhythm in the performance of this wonderful work, then they write that this is a training orchestra. So don’t worry, we just wait for a full-fledged premiere performed by masters, whom there are many who respect Kapustin.
@@cantthinkofausername6749 I don't like that it has no traditional form, structure, melody or pleasant harmony. No beauty. Continual dissonance is not music. In my view of course. There may be people who love this sort of thing, as is their right.
