Lex's decision to keep Amber over Jerri was his only move left as they no longer have the numbers. What's dumb is for him to take out Hatch, Colby and Ethan effectively weakening his tribe in challenges hence they lost a lot of immunities. Ugh keeping Shii Ann and Kathy without any benefits to his tribe was dumb.
Hatch was aloof, Colby didn't trust anyone and Ethan was a threat to be the first 2x winner.
Whereas he had a pre-game alliance with Kathy. And Kathy maneuvered herself into a close alliance with Shii-Ann. So by extension Lex couldn't remove Shii-Ann.
But yes, Jerri should have of course been kept over Amber. Lex/Kathy/Shii-Ann/Jerri could have tried pulling Big Tom in at Final 9. They would have had a majority
I really wish that Mogo Mogo won the Day 18 combined reward/immunity challenge. That challenge is the most critical point of the season which led to Mogo Mogo’s losing streak. What will happen if they invite Big Tom or Rob to join the reward? That raises a lot of what-ifs on the status of the pre-game alliance.
I don’t know what transpired between the Rob, Lex, Kathy and Big Tom before the game. Are they all dead-set in eliminating all threats (Hatch, Ethan, Colby and Rob C.) and having the Final 4 to themselves? Lex and Kathy should realize that once Rob fell in love with a girl on the island there’s NO WAY that the Final 4 would come into fruition, much less Rob (and Amber) taking them to the Final 2.
Lex’s biggest mistake here is that the pre-game alliance has gotten over his head (probably influenced by Kathy) that he failed to play the game in a real environment of Survivor. The worst thing you can do in Survivor is immediately placing targets on your tribe (Mogo Mogo) that you failed to work effectively as tribe to win. That mindset will bite you in the long run. This is no different from Silas and Lindsey’s arrogant Mallrats alliance by antagonizing the older Samburus that even without a tribe swap, these outsiders will turn against you in the first opportunity to do so. Boston Rob did the opposite in a way that he kept the Chaperas close that he has more bullets to fire in case something goes awry. Lex simply lacks self-awareness that he actually forgot to play the game, being too attached with his friendship pact.
Lex mismanaged the pre-merge for sure, but if he got rid of Amber, he had a chance to flip Big Tom.
His plan was to flip Big Tom, due to their friendship from Africa. Honestly, if that would've happened, then Lex would've won easily. His competition in the final five would've been Big Tom (the only one an even remote threat), Kathy (physically weak and probably won't make the final two), Shii Ann (who other Survivors despise), and Jerri (who the other Survivors despise). Lex is strong enough to dominate the immunity challenges against those others, as long as Rupert or Boston Rob aren't there. He's more likeable than Shii Ann, Jerri, and Kathy. All he has to do is not let Big Tom make final two.
Lex was a moron for keeping amber over Jerry thinking that Boston Rob would flip to his side to vote his own tribe mates who weren't to bright, Lex should of kept his power players cause was saying "it's all business" the entire time, Colby at the time was a challenge beast (not anymore)

To me, Lex is probably a top 10 "influential" player. The man was a natural leader that his tribe followed without a doubt. His strategy was all about jury management and integrity, more so than any other player I can think of.
A lot of people love to hate on Lex, but just imagine for one second...put yourself in his shoes.
You love the game of survivor, you almost won the first time. It’s one of the biggest shows on television and they’re bringing back the best of the best. One of your best friends is going out there with you. The two of you make a deal that you’re gonna run the show together. In the game he asks you to keep someone safe, you help a brother out. Everything is going according to plan. Then...your friend says to you that he has a “new alliance” now and he’s gonna be moving on without you. It would be impossible not to be completely livid and hurt by that. You’d be heartbroken, it would feel like your brother stabbed you in the back because essentially...that’s what happened.
I 100% understand Lex’s point of view. I’m not saying what Rob did was wrong, he was playing a game after all, but I understand how Lex felt, and he had every right to react the way that he did. It’s the ultimate “dude are you f-ing kidding me???” moment. And tbh, depending on how close I was to him in rl, I might never talk to him again as well. They made a “real life” alliance, that deal that they made was based on a real life friendship, it was NOT part of the game. That’s the difference, and that’s what the Lex haters don’t understand.
Pre Game alliances are part of the game. I can 100% understand him being upset and I think it’s a lot harder when your playing with people you know but it doesn’t mean it isn’t part of the game. He also acted the same way in Africa, with people he only met in the game. He flipped out when someone voted him and yet backstabbed Kelly and scapegoated her. I don’t hate Lex as much as a lot of people but i don’t believe he is cut out for survivor.
I just wouldn’t get upset when karma finally catches up to me, that’s all 🤣

I relate to what Lex passed by, I acted the same when I used to play ORGs and one move against me from someone I was pre-gamed with and geniunely tried to ally was too much for me.

People seem to forget or just not know that Lex and Rob had an alliance pre-all-stars so Rob's betrayal was a genuine shock and dick move on his end. Lex and some of the others had told the previous winners (Ethan, Richard, etc) they'd be targeted by those who didn't win before, also Ethan, Lex, and Big Tom are still very very close friends.
One of my favorite moments in this season was when they were playing a game/challenge similar to “Go Fish”. Lex has a really funny sense of humor. I like him!
All business until Boston Rob betrayed him.
The difference is that Lex didn’t have a pre game alliance with Ethan. They all knew that the winners were gonna get targeted. Lex, Rob and Kathy were very close outside the game, and they made a real life pre game alliance that was based on REAL trust and real friendship, not “game trust”. How people don’t understand this I’ll never know. There is a HUGE difference between game trust and real life trust. Stabbing a brother in the back based on real life trust cuts deeper than pretty much anything.
@@nickp3949 It’s still a game though? Pre Game alliances are still part of the game, even if they take place beforehand. Lex and Ethan were also friends and Lex prioritised Jerri whom he didn’t have a friendship or pre game alliance over Ethan, his friend. I don’t think Lex getting Ethan out was bad or anything, it’s part of the game and he had an alliance with Jerri who he figured he could manipulate and probably could, but he still backstabbed a friend.
All business when it was stabbing a millionaire in the back. Personal the second it was him who was cost the million.

Lex's run in All Stars always frustrated me, honestly, because of the way he handled things (or didn't 😅).

I believe that Rob’s betrayal hit him real hard in a way that he perceived Survivor negatively and I don’t blame him. How can you be fully grateful to the game that made you lose one of your best friends in real life?

I apologize for commenting so late on your vids as I just found your channel! I always enjoyed Lex, but I never found that him speaking about Richard was jealousy. I think he was just really trying to make the ladies side with him on the tribe as he didn't like him for personal reasons. This was such a great season of Surivivor tho!

The way him or Kathy could have won All Stars had they got rid of Amber. I'm still mad. Rof those who don't believe me. Big Tom would have flipped on Chapera alliance and the Majority alliance would have been (Lex, Kathy, Jerri, Shii Ann and Big Tom). So much better than the actual season.
Big Tom flipping is still risky considering he was unwilling to flip here or in Africa.

I think ironically Lex and Rob evolved into each other as they progressed through their survivor careers. Lex became a no-nonsense game bot here on business, while Robb later became the loyal anti-hero mafioso on Heroes v Villains and WaW. (And to an extent on RI) I do think people are far too hard on Lex for his AS game tho. Yes, it was shocking to see him backstab Ethan and Colby, but he would have had to do it at some point, so why drive the knife deeper, instead of just getting it over with? I think he gets a lot of hate for what amounts to one strategic move to save Amber. How could he know that Amber and Rob would blossom into the ultimate survivor power couple lol.

Doesn't that fishing thing just explain why Lex wanted Hatch out. Him getting Hatch out makes him more important to the tribe. So it wasn't just personal

He did all good except misreading Rob's loyalty to him. But that's all captain hindsight talk. He still rocks as a player and would be welcome on any legends non-winners season!

Hypocrite. Pure and simple, and this may be a hot take, but I don't think he's very good at Survivor.
I always loved Lex, but his mistake was thinking Rob would ever put anything above the game, that Amber was worth more than survivor and that it would pay off. Boy was he wrong.
Loved Lex on Africa but then I absolutely hated him here.

I'm tired of people saying Lex keeping Amber was a bad move. Look at it from Lex's point of view is it better to have one Ally or two. So keeping Amber was the best move for his game at the time
It was super risky for him to keep her. It would have been a lower risk to bank on Tom flipping to him at the merge like he planned.
@@OnceUponAnIsland Despite all the what ifs I'm glad that he did keep Amber in the game, its really great how she and Rob got married at the end of the show. I couldnt ask for a better conclusion for this season.

Is if rich, Tina, Vecepia, Brian, and Amber didn’t win by one vote themselves. That’s how it was back then. Rich is still one of the best players to play the game, inventing the alliance, and his strategy was before its time and players today aren’t on his level.
@@adamsbriee6330 Sure, you could say that. But Kelly definitely had an uphill battle. And the jurors have come out to confirm they were bitter and the men didn't want a girl to beat them, because it was just 2000. The jurors atleast acknowledged that Kelly should've won, and so did the vast majority of America at the time.

Major hypocrite in my opinion. He's more to willing to betray his friends and claim it's "business" but when someone like Boston Rob does it to him, he has a lot of sour grapes.
Hatch at the reunion said it best. You don't give a piece of a game just because their you're friend. I'm sure Lex is a great guy, but he is too emotional for this game. Just look at how he reacted to getting two votes, he kicked out Kelly Goldsmith and if it weren't for Brandon screwing his own game, he would've gotten 9th place just like he did here!
And he showed his cards in that argument with Boston Rob saying he would have come into the merge with his numbers if he had kept Jerri and then pulled Big Tom over from a pre-game alliance.

Who cares, it is Rob who is an asshole and shitty friend anyway. Keep in mind every "friend" Rob voted out besides Andrea isn't friends with him today- Grant, Kathy, Tom, Alicia, Lex, why single out Lex. That list would be way longer if he weren't an overrated player who went pre merge or pre jury on 3 of his 5 seasons.

Lex had me rolling on the floor when Rob did to him what LEX did everyone else!!! Ethan & Jerri and Clarence for Africa. Lex back stabbed all them and more. I couldn’t stop laughing at him 🤣🤣

It's different. He never made a deal or agreement with Ethan. Whereas Boston Rob made a deal with Lex that was broken.

ah a tragic story that All Stars is most remembered for. arguably one of the best stacked against players of his caliber on his own tribe. like narrator said Mogo Mogo on paper absolutely stacked. 2 winners Richard & Jenna. 3 castaways so close yet so far to victory Colby Kathy and himself. and Shii Ann who's result doesn't show it one of the best minds in the game's history. gameplay Lex did well in All Stars but questionable decisions plus too many challenge losses by his tribe simply was his demise. voting Richard & Colby out from Lex's POV made sense so he could be the alpha male of Mogo Mogo. if he was majority at merge then he was in a great position. when he got rid of Ethan it just didn't make sense. except if Ethan got to the end he had a great case to win again. the infamous Jerri/Amber moment just a dumb move in general. Lex bet on a desperate leap of faith plea by Rob to save Amber based on friendship outside of game. he barely talked to Rob at all during the game. plus there wasn't any showing of him even talking to Amber. versus keeping Jerri who after Kathy was 150% with him. wouldn't vote against him for anything. long story short Rob betrays Lex. Kathy is distraught by Rob. Lex get voted off. side note if Kathy did give Lex immunity it would've added an interesting plot twist. of course the audience views Lex as hypocritical. which makes sense voting friend Ethan out and then using the word friend voting Colby off. then being extremely upset when Rob betrayed him. I get it. as a point of reference I always see the word hypocrite for everything in life as following. I'm a hypocrite. You're a hypocrite. We're all hypocrites. no human is perfectly moral otherwise they would be a robot. do I agree Lex is one? yes I do this is perfect example of the word. but he has the right to be upset or emotional in this situation. because it's who he is and everyone has different ways to react to it. anyway Lex had a strong showing in All Stars but simply Mogo Mogo lost too many challenges. being in minority and from what we ended up seeing no one changed sides in voting. Rob literally made a deal/alliance with everyone in the last 9 except Shii Ann...

Honestly cutting Jerri does make sense though. If he cuts Amber, he's down in the numbers 4-5. If he gets rid of Jerri, at least there was the chance Rob and Amber flip and Lex has the numbers 5-4. I feel like people call the move dumb now just because of how bad he took the conversation with Rob, which is an understandable reason to dislike Lex
If he cuts Amber, Tom flips and it is 5-4. That is way less risky than pinning his hopes on Rob who hasn't played with all game and honestly has no idea how Rob is positioned in the game. It is all about risk on the move and it was a lower risk of blowing up in his face if he cuts Amber.
@@OnceUponAnIsland I haven't watched the season in awhile, so maybe they made it obvious that Tom was gonna flip and I'm not remembering, but I feel like a Tom flip wasn't guaranteed. Fully willing to admit it was actually the wrong move though if there was hard evidence Tom would flip

Lex played poorly this season. Removed all of his shields and of course got taken out as soon as they were all gone.
If you can't stay friends with someone because they outplayed you then you were never really friends. He is the most bitter person I have ever seen on the show. It was his dumb mistake to not take the numbers when he had the chance "It WaS a FrEiNdShIp mOvE" nah only to you Lex.
Also it was a dumb move. guarenteed final 3 if he does not do this.
Is Rob friends with ANYONE who he voted out in any of his seasons today, except for I guess Andrea. Grant, Tom, Kathy, Alicia, all don't even talk to him today, and some others. So why focus on Lex.
@@douglasbrown5671 because lex made such a big deal about it. He could of handled his issue with Rob after but he decided to tell the world during the first ever bitter jury.
@@sackeshi His speech did not impact any votes, and he was never voting Rob anyway. It does not really matter. And bitter juries are a common thing on Survivor these days anyways.

Lex didn't go on family vacations with Ethan. He didn't have a pre-game alliance with Ethan. He didn't have a deal to take each other to the end with Ethan. He never said to Ethan that he was going to bring him to the end, use that as leverage to get favours from Ethan and then casually stab Ethan in the back. In fact he was pretty clear with Ethan that Winners are targets. Ethan's a winner and thus, a target. Pretty clear.
Rob and Lex were very close before this. Rob and Lex made an alliance before the game started. Rob told Lex that if he takes care of Amber, than Rob would take care of him. Lex did his part, to his own detriment, but when it came time to reciprocate, Rob shanked Lex in the back.
Lex didn't betray Ethan, Rob DID betray Lex. That's the difference y'all ain't getting.
