The AMPED 2 changed my expectations for these full on amp-in-a-box pedals....but what did you think?! If you want to purchase the AMPED 2, Get it at my affiliate link here: www.zzounds.com/a--3980954
Would love to see you demo something similar to this such as the black spirit 200 pedal amp.
could you connect this directly to a cab with this unit?
Kyle - "we don't do cleans and leads here, AIN'T NOBODY GOT TIME FOR THAT! ", Zzounds & Blackstar - "we'll see about that 😏"
I find it kinda sad that none of these guys on these guitar channels know how to play anything on a clean channel. Not a single melodic bone in their fingers. If I were a company I would say, you arent demonstrating the unit properly and not send it.
Just learned about these earlier today and from what i've gathered, it has all of the features as my Silverline Deluxe II, with a few new minor additions. I bought one and the vert cab with 2 celestion's & love it. The noise gate works great too
Great video Kyle. This filled in the pedal sized gaps from the official demos. It looks like this is everything I hoped it would be.
Hey man, great video. I"m a fan of your editing. Makes watching your videos a really fun experience.
Thank God, these are the comparisons I really need to see. Thanks Kyle.
Great review! With the effects loop and the 500ma power jacks, I'd be able to use whatever noise gate pedal I choose. This feature set is impressive!
Love your videos and this looks like something that is going to make my life a ton easier gigging and for playing at home. I did a bunch of research on this and there is a presence control. You hold shift and adjust the treble and it is the presence control. You can also switch between voicings using a midi controller. Still a down side for an all in one solution but you can program a midi footswitch to control it all. Awesome vid and I think I'll be picking one of these bad boys up. Keep rocking
incredibly tempting piece to purchase, awesome video Kyle
I did not expect a Taking Back Sunday riff. Nice man. Great video as always
I was also shocked he broke out a TBS riff
Cool vid. I played one of these today and really liked it. East to use, versatile and I could think of a bunch of ways to use it. Great piece of gear IMO
A very thorough review. Thanks.
Great demo! Man, this looks really cool... Kinda tempted... Next year / next promotion, maybe? Lol. Great job with this one, even when breaking your "no cleans" policy!
Wow!! That thing really impressed me! Wouldn’t mind jamming that in a band setting to really see what it does.
If it can last the distance then Blackstar may have struck gold here. The working guitarist will go mad for these units
"the working guitarist"
lmao
@@a-nus Yeah, some people actually get £££ to play gigs
I took “the working guitarist” as a guitar player who works a day job.
@@Xenbjorn That's a spectacularly literal interpretation but takes all sorts, I guess
@@darthgibsonlp6631 For those interested TC Electronic has released a pedal that combines, I believe, the majority of their pedals into one with multiple footswitches. I recently ordered it and it's amazing for having many pedals in a practical format.
Great video dude!
I’ve been gigging the Bluguitar Amp1 which is similar and sounds fantastic. Just have to add your own effects. Soon the AmpX will come out and will have everything this has and more in one unit.
The amp 1 is pretty solid and versatile for high gain. I think it would probably eclipse this thing tone wise
I’m using a Friedman IRX into a powerstage 170, I’m much happier than my 6505 head, mostly because i don’t have to carry my head anymore. Played a gig saturday night and the mix in my ears sounded so good
This is really similar to the Quilter amps. The last batch of Quilter Super Block amps were almost exactly like this except were 25 watts. The updated versions of those Quilter amps should be out soon. Theirs had two versions of the Super Block amps. There was a US AND Uk version. I’ll be posting my review and how I use mine on my other channel soon.
As far as this amp goes, yeah I’m impressed!

what's model?
Hi Kyle, good vid !
About the presence if you've read the Book it is noticed that you Can adjust it by engaging the shift button and turn the high at the same time 😁
I think it sounds good and i'm really interested with it !
Sounds pretty good honestly
Sounds pretty impressive
Sweet. I was hoping a metal head would review this soon.
Ninecore Neil also did a couple of vids
Hi mate, good video, it actually does have a Presence option, if you hold "TAP" and move the master volume it gives the option
It actually is hold the Tap and then move the Treble control
IT'S A FAN
Sounds good
Amazing man! You always post good content. Im currently trying to further my music career. Any tips? God bless!
It's the Timberlake approved 'Rock In A Box!'
I have the Amped 1 which doesn't have the high gain setting so I run a BE OD Iin front of it and boost that with a Devil's triad and it just sounds amazing. The built in speaker emulation is okay but really needs some eqing in the software to sound good and honestly after getting a CabM for my real amps I just use that. I'd definitely consider picking this up as a backup rig or for a fly date though.
Cool fly rig for sure.
"I'm familiar with my audience." My man Kyle knows what's up!
"Holy god thats loud" yes thats is true...god my ears ringing when listen this on with headphones😃😃😃
can you please tell me where you got that pedal stand? i need that like yesterday. awesome video too i like that these all in one pedal platforms are getting more popular.
Kids these days just starting out playing guitar have no idea how good they have it. There is some amazing gear available at afforedable prices when considering everything the gear can do.
Hot take - that reverb switch should have been a master volume 2 control with a knob above it for solo boost. Seems like that would have been significantly more useful than switchable reverb :\
I think it does have presence. It is a shift function as I recall hearing in a video. Noise gate would have been a great touch, and I think not using all those footswitches to have a preset mode is a massive miss.
Look At You Getting Spencer’s Videos!
Your Coming Up Brother!
ksr ceres or this? both sound great i cannot choose one over the other but i would love to hear your opinion, i already own the 5150 iconic amp head but i would love to have something like this so i dont have to carry around my amp head everywhere i play its frustrating tbh
Hey kyle! please can you make a comparison with the bluguitar AMP 1 iridium ? I will really be interested by these 2 products and wanna know what you think ( from an hardcore pov)
Very awesome.
With the pedal I think I like it better than the Orange OR120
For some reason I thought you demo'd the bluguitar iridium. Looks like that isn't the case. Could you give that one a try? I'd like to hear your opinion.
I'm gonna go into dept buying it.
I'm assuming this is a joke but if not then NO!! Never go in debt over gear, there's usually always a cheaper option, keep looking . Peace and love peace and love
@@M3tal_matt I was just making a pun. Of course I won't go into debt.
Have you ever tried the flamma fx100? I'm curious to see how it sounds.
I couldn't stop laughing.. your reactions are classic! LMFAO
Yep, get rid of the flanger/chorus section, and add a noisegate, add depth and presence, and its got potential. Perhaps making a high gain version of this platform, directed towards heavy music, would be a good idea.
Amped 3 is out now 🫡
Thrash Damon in "Bourne New Identify, he does leads, cleans, and plays a Strat, You won't recognize him" 🤣🤣. Just having fun 👊
It sounds pretty good actually
Looks very promising but I agree about it needing maybe depth/presence and a noise gate. I like to build from an edge of breakup cleanish sound to high gain, I suppose it wouldn’t hurt to run another drive pedal in front to help with that and stick a gate in there as well? Love the fact it has a boost and fx for leads and clean tones, not to mention a cab sim out for front of house. Do you know if it’s possible to load your own ir for the cab sim?
I checked it out and you can adjust the presence, and I think the resonance, using the tap button as a kind of shift button and then one of the tone controls doubles as an adjustment for that. It works like the Blackstar Silverline I have. not sure about the IR loader, that would be cool tho!
Grip it and rip itttt. Best line haha
Well this is maybe the best stombox "amp i a box" type thing ever exist, classic set + drive make me drool... is it my dream tone...YES YES YEEES fat punchy and heavy fuck yeah
Does anyone know if I could use this as an amp+cab and just plug this straight into my usb interface and dial in some good tones?I dont need to use an actual cabinet right?
Ive been thinking about getting an Iridium but then I saw this one and im really torn about wich one to get? Im a intermediate-ish guitarist thats just looking to having a simple and decent enough headphone/recording setup at home, and I love that this one seems very hands-on with actual psyichal knobs and stuff!
Once he flicked that EL34 switch, I'm over the fence
Will it chug? Ola says YES!
Yup UA-cam gear review rules aways play clean blues scales and the last minute or 2 easy metal chug riff but still sounded good.
Any chance you can add a room mic and show us that sound during the videos too ?
Hey Kyle, what's the circle on the back, the one with the fan blades?
Oooh, a Gup tech mention. Now you're talking!.
I was wondering, have you tried the Bluguitar Amp1 Iriduim edition? I searched your videos and haven't found anything about it.
That's the metal version of Bluguitar's Amp1, I think it's a very impressive unit and for someone who don't need onboard effects that defnitely could be a one stop shop (it has a noise gate built-in ahah), it was scary good compared to legit tube amps on Bluguitar"s youtube channel.
They are german and Thomas Blug worked for Hughes'n Kettner for years, so he knows his stuff and it shows! I see Zzounds have them in stock, maybe that could be interesting! I would love to hear what you can get out of that thing! Cheers!
Bluguitar was the first thing I thought of when this vid popped up. I first heard of Bluguitar from Euge Valovirta
I second this post. I would love to get Kyle’s take on the Iridium Bluguitar amp.
Double that thought it’s at or around the Blu price wise the Blu don’t have the effects but sounds pretty incredible and like the other guy said if you want to see what the Blu amp pedals can do you got to check out Euge Valovirita he uses the Blu as his fly rig and the dude has a killer you tube channel for metal guitar stuff.
Head to head with a Bluguitar Iridium please Kyle
didn't saw that taking back sunday riff coming
Review the fireball 25 next 😬
Pod go and Poweramp pedal might be better?
so its basically an updated 100w pedal board version of the id30tvp?
That thing is insane. I wonder how it would take a noise suppressor honestly. I’m surprised you didn’t try that real quick with a decimator or something. Looks like I might pick this up though honestly that’s a steal for such a crushing tone range.
I'm surprised it doesn't have a noise gate
I have the amped one and I use a small pedal board with over drives, wah mini ,and delay ,the delay and a decimater g string mini in the effects loop!!! Works great!!
With the release of ik tonex pedal, its become even more conflicting...can someone give clarity for choosing between this blackstar unit and the tonex pedal?
I’d be interested to see this against the Boss Katana 100.
Katana wins.
Amped 3 video please :)
Was going to get a PRS MT15, but now seeing this I'm wondering if this is the way to go instead.
This would be for home use only as I don't record or play live, just for my own pleasure.
Just really want a great metal tone for playing along to my favourite 80/90/00's thrash tunes.
What should I choose, or is there another option around the same price?Any advice would be great.
Same situation for me too man. The game changer, for me, was the TwoNotes Torpedo CaptorX. Attenuator, load box, and cab sim all in one. Software has built in EQ, gate, reverb, and other tone shaping features. Headphone out sounds incredible, and does well with high impedence cans. I use a pair of Sennheiser HD650s, but your taste may vary. The only problem is, finding the "right" amp. I've had a Mesa Mark V:25, Marshall DSL20H, SLO30, and a Mark V:90. All had things I didn't like, or couldn't tame well.
@@jamescarter3708 Thanks for the feed back. I've not even heard of the TwoNotes Torpedo CaptorX. So, did you find the right amp to attenuate with it? Can you run a powered studio monitor from the speaker out? Or do you still use a guitar cabinet? I didn't get the PRS MT15 in the end. I bought a couple of used heads instead. A H&K Grandmaster 36, and a Peavy 6505HM.But these take a lot of tweaking to sound good, and I had to add a boost to the input, and an Eq to the loop. Still not 100% happy with the tone.
@@jasonellis7895 I haven't found the right amp for me yet. I keep leaning towards the ol' reliable, a 5150III EL34 50 watt, but I haven't purchased one yet. Or maybe I'll go back to a Mesa Mark V:25. I didn't need the power or flurry of tonal options that the big 90 watt head has. Or a mini recto. Who knows.
I use the TwoNotes with just the headphone out, but you can run monitors with it, or attenuate the signal to run through a cab. I live with family and there's little ones at home, so I can't enjoy playing through a cab, headphones only right now.
I do like the Mark series from Mesa though, as the voicings are good, and with the sliders, it's easy to shape a good thrash tone. Another benefit is that, if you want to, you can run straight into the front of a Mark V (or Mark VII now). No absolute need for a boost. A noise gate in front is all you need for rhythm.
@@jamescarter3708the “boost” isnt for adding gain. It tightens up the flubby mesa low end. Think of it as an eq that makes the amp not sound too bassy
I would still prefer my hx stomp and powerstage.
Kyle, what's my prize? I hope it's k,y jelly.
Its a great tool ..love mine , not loud enough tho
The new ToneX pedal looks more enticing.
The ToneX isn't an amp, though, so it's not really comparable.
Was the unit that noisy? I can hear a LOT of noise breaking in on your voice over mic.
“It’s a fan” - Kyle Bull 2023
My only concern is reliability. Awesome price, pretty good sound but Blackstar doesn’t have the best track record.
How do you switch between dirty and clean channels in a live gig situation?
you don't, it's a one channel amp like I mentioned, which is why I tested a distortion pedal on the clean tone to see how it would take pedals
Could you do this with a midi controller?
Tech 21: "just change my homework up soo it's not obvious who you copied off of"
Blackstar: "uhhhhh....Dept 10!"
all that and they didn't include a gate. that's odd. there's a presence control, you just have to hold something down to get there. not a depth control, which seems like another odd oversight. tones are pretty solid otherwise
Am I the only one that thinks Kyle Bull is Jonathan Downey's (Spawn Wave) balder brother?
The only thing you have treble balancing out? HA!
matt damon
If you build a fly rig let us see how you set it up!
Does it chainsaw? If it had an HM-2 function on it I would probably buy it in a heart beat. I know you're not the biggest fan of that sound, but I am.
Is it me, or is there a noise gate or compressor inline with the microphone, because I dont hear the cleans at all. Whatever, I'm here for the high gain.
Who asked for clean tones, not me 🤷♂️. Is the MAN making you play a Strat and Clean tones 😡😡😡, Down with the man!
Continuity
Grip it and rip it 💀 I'm dead
Dude!! What is that Squire Strat?? You never play that... Maybe do that more often?? I'm a fender guy, so...maybe that's why. 🤷
$650? You can get a new Boss Katana Artist head for LESS money. Katana has way more features. $570 for the Katana.
Soise gate.
Why use one of these, instead of myriads of the ones like it?
Seems like a loot of reading out of a specsheet.
Is it better that a Zoom G3x with a PA?
Looking at the live band practice portion of the video, I see that none of you guys are wearing ear protections (Or at least, it does not look like you all do). That may be unwise for musician
But you need to play on a hum.
L e d light emitting diode it's not a light bulb
That thing is cool! But, it could use a little more belligerence!
Lol. Not talking trash about clean tones this time. That was totally fake. And like why I like you.
Needs a GATE..
Missing patch/channel switching…I’ll pass. Looks like nux trident is superior
the Trident does not have a built in poweramp, it is not an all in one solution for the gigging guitarist so you're comparing apples and oranges
At this point Blackstar just needs to stop with the traditional amp layouts and focus on pedaly stuff, or at least put this in an amp. Because man this is good, which is uhhhhhhhhhhhh not exactly what we have come to expect from Blackstar amps.
Lost me at $600 lmao
how much do you think something like this would cost, and what cheaper options would you recommend?
