For those wondering how to put the handle back on, like I was, it is pretty easy. Insert the clip back into the handle and fully seat it. Press the handle into position. The part that you are pushing it into is coned shaped and will separate the clip. You will feel and hear it snap into place.
I had a struggle in this piece of shit today, I look on all data it didn't help me, until I found your video, Man you save my ass.. Thank you for posting this.. Done subscribe on your channel.. keep it up....
That's great, so how the hell do you put it BACK ?! I replaced the latch on the front bumer (was rusted) and replaced the snapped pull mechanism inside the driver door, behind the handle pull. Got it all off without any issues, but cannot figure out how the hell to put the handle and panel back on ...
You need to remove the screw, potentially remove the trim that it latches onto, slide it up and it should come out. There's some clips on the back that hold it.
@@votblindub hi friend, thanks for replying. i took it in today and it is found damaged. they said they ordered the part through VW and the cost to fix it would be 268$ does this sound right?
@@ISTHIStheKRUSTYKRABx a lot of times pricing is debatable. You could save $$ by finding the part yourself from a reputable store/online and doing the work yourself. Depending on what's broken, most of it can be fixed with basic tools.
No wonder they call VWs 'Hitler's Revenge' ! What kind of idiot 'engineer ' would put the clip at the back out of sight, and why not simply hold the lever on with a visible screw? [Probably an associate of the guy that designed airboxes that require engine removal on some modern Triumph motorcycles...] Thanks for the well-presented tip - hopefully it applies in principle to my T5......
Thank you- you just saved me Half an hour of stress. 100% thanks ❤🎉
You are a life saver! Replacing the carpet in my MK4 Jetta and this was the only thing holding me up to this point, but not any longer!
2 thumbs up for this quick video. Was trying to get one off today and will take another shot at it tomorrow.
Brillian - THAT is worth the price of admission - why the manuals cannot depict that simple task is beyond me.

The plastic handle? That just snaps back on. Otherwise, I'd suggest to look at an exploded drawing like on ETKA or the manual
Thanks so much, apply for the VW up!, Thanks!!!!!
Looking for pics showing how the hood release cable is attached to the hood release handle bracket. I had to replace mine but I can't open the hood.
You mean inside the panel behind the spot where the handle is?
@@votblindub yes. Feels the cable is not tight enough. Maybe there is another problem with the cable under the hood
@@arphaksad01 follow that whole cable, it may have torn. check it out just in case.
Thank you!
Some have a smaller c clip that feels missing at first.
Thank you! Very informative.
thanks for the info

How did you get the dead pedal out

What happens if I pull this lever and my hood wont open? Didnt even prop open at all. I mightve closed the hood too hard now its stuck
It could be stuck or maybe the cable is disconnected or damaged

So clutch

its really difficult to do when it is installed and you have to lay in the foot room
The door doesn't open?
@@votblindub yes it does otherwise i could not lay in the food room could i ? the clip should be on the other side so you can get to it easier
Nice
how do you open the hood if this handle breaks off?
@Johnathan B, theres a few how-to videos on how to open the hood without the handle or tools on the site
Can somebody help me, this is broken and I don’t know how to open my hood... this slides so I cannot open it 🤦🏼♂️🤦🏼♂️
