I work at a Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram dealer and we are finally getting some new inventory in, mostly 2022 Rams but luckily we got more coming that we haven't had new in a while.
I just picked up this exact truck. Color and all. Took it off the lot with 9 miles. What a nice smooth ride. Didn't have the safety features but like you said, hard to find, so I took it! Couldn't be happier.
The Colorado is an excellent truck for people that don't want a full size pickup. The big selling point is the V6 and not a four cylinder engine that's not suited for a mid size pickup. The only negative of it (and the Ford Ranger) is the fact there's No air conditioning vents for the rear seat passengers.
The “only” negative? These things are very outdated compared to other trucks in the segment for the same price. They are in desperate need of a refresh. A 43k ranger is going to have the whole suite of safety features and all this has is lane departure warning. No other truck in the segment doesn’t have these safety features. Everything about this truck is outdated. Thinking about the competition, can you give a good argument as to why I should spend 43k on this compared to a frontier, Tacoma or Ranger? There is no value proposition with this truck.

Good overview of the 2022. Funny that they changed the shift knob. Colorado owners have been swapping out the shift knob for the Blazers for a couple years now. Looks like GM picked up on the trend. Whenever I see one of these in my rearview I initially think it's an SUV. But it was the interior convinced me to pull the trigger on a 1st gen Colorado.
My college used these for there maintenance vehicle and they look really beautiful it’s not this model I think it was from right around 2017 or 2018 and it looks really nice I like it and this one looks even better.
The biggest advantage the Colorado/Canyon have over the rest of the midsize competition is their auto/4wd setting. You don’t realize how nice that is until you don’t have it. Also, for those drivers in your household that are …um…ah…less mechanically inclined it allows them to set it and forget it in inclement weather.
Gotta hand it to whoever orders your inventory. I work at a dealership that does 3-5 times the volume of your store, yet you always have new stuff before I do! 2022 Equinoxes, 2022 Colorados, I guess we did get a couple 2022 Tahoes around the same time as you. Let me know how the 2022MCE Silverado looks I guess lol.
Great comparison Dave! I like the 2020 the most! Love the options it comes with, in today's world... at that price... it's a good value and a very nice truck! I like the RST package! Great stuff as always!!!
How is the 2022 model able to have the chips for it when the 2021 model was waiting for chips? What happens to all those 2021 models parked in storage lots?
not sure but I think most have been delivered to dealers.. We're only waiting for a handful of 2021 Traverse's, Silverado's, and Bolts (Bolts due to the recall).
I pray that some of the interior updates made to the Silverado trickle down to the little brother. The next gen Silverado looks great. Confused as to why Chevy does not offer a moon roof option nor make the tow package standard.. it's a truck. Ultimately, the increasing competition in the midsize truck segment ought to propel GM to wow with next gen Colorado, esp if they want to compete w/ the just over the horizon next generation Ranger and Tacoma, respectively. Bring it on!
I love the canyon and Colorado but I’m nervous about the transmission. I read online there was some problems with it. Do you know if those issues have been addressed?
I have not really heard much about it lately, but I had a 2016 Colorado with 3.6 V6 and the auto trans...kept it 10 months and sold it...transmission was never right. It scared my wife to death everytime she had to accelerate going up a hill....it would bog down and shudder so bad you had to floor board it to get it to downshift. Dealer asked if the check engine light was on when I took it in (4 different times) I said no, they said nothing they could do. GM would have to release a software update to fix it. Hopefully they have. It's a good looking truck but at least back in 2016 (and I think for at least a few years after that) it left much to be desired.

Great video, like the truck a lot just looking a little dated for 2022. Did you hear about the Malibu production is starting back up? Gonna be cool to see if you get any. They also have the 1.5t and 2.0t available still. Kinda wish that they would have kept the 2.0 in the equinox all this time. I was seriuosly looking at getting a Colorado earlier this year but ended up with a Tacoma. Really liked the Colorado/Canyon but I got more for the money with Toyota. I think GM needs a whole new redesign for the Colorado to compete with the Tacoma, Ranger and Frontier.
If I was a buyer who was looking to buy I would personally just wait until the 23' model update for the Colorado's. You would get the better engine with the 2.7 Turbo engine at 310 HP and the huge 340 foot of Torque , that's a huge improvement compared to the current 275 foot of torque the 3.6 v6 has. Personally for me, I think GM is getting outdid in the midsize truck area, so hopefully the updated 23' model will get them back into the game. They have been sleeping behind the wheel while their competition has sped by them.
It's time for this truck to get a full redesign. It's still the same truck since 2015 with just a few more convenience and safety features. It's been so noncompetitive while the big dogs have fully redesigned their trucks. Ford is coming out with a new Ranger for 2023, Toyota with a new Tacoma the same year, and RAM may or may not bring back the Dakota. Ford also brought back the compact truck that's been distant for so long. This would be ample opportunity to bring back the S-10. I know it won't happen but it would be a great, competitive move on their part. It could compete with the Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz if they put in the effort. Plus, it would give Ford and Hyundai a run for their money.
I like how everyone rags on the 200hp 4cyl, including the car reviewers. The car reviews for the Tacoma and people's opinion is just the opposite. Meanwhile they're running around with less than 170hp.
