I just started Tales of Vesperia (my first tales game) yesterday and was about to quit because combat felt so clunky. I ended up sticking with it because good doggo played better in combat. Now I just have to see where the story goes.
Symphonia is most people first tales and the most iconic. You should start from there. It has the best story and characters as well. Graces and berseria has the best combat. Berseria is probably the best overall tales game.
I first played tales of phantasia when I was around 7-9 years old and got to the dessert before stopping. It felt like I was at the half way point of the story anyways. But more than a decade later, I remembered the fond moments of playing tales of phantasia so I hopped back in to play it and oh my God was I wrong. I wasn't even 10% done with the story. I swear that it's a miracle I was able to memorize the layouts of ALL the puzzles and mazes throughout the game. I'm glad i chose to stop when I was younger, knowing the difficulty in the later half of the game made me feel like my younger self would go insane. I finished it and BOI WAS IT SATISFYING!
Graces will forever be my number 1 Tales of game. The combat is just amazing, especially using Malik and Pascal. You can combo enemies to oblivion if you had the right set up.

As a Symphonia nut who's beaten that game at least 50 times and never played anything else other than abyss twice, this is pretty cool. I didn't realize how thematically similar the music has been throughout. Sometimes I wish I was still into video games just to follow the Tales series, this video was awesome.
Arise on Series X and an LG CX is jaw-droppingly gorgeous. The combat has seen some nice changes as well; about 40 hours in and I've loved every minute.
This is the updated version of the video, with the spinoffs included;

Tales of eternia got me hooked on tales of games ♥️ favorite games ever!
Yeah, me too
Tales of Destiny was my jam. I remember the local video store was going out of business so they were selling their games. Managed to snag up Destiny and still have it. No box, no manual, just Philia on a disc covered by a video rental logo.
Symphonia will always be my favorite. Best story and characters out of them all for me personally.
Thanks for the nostalgia trip. Still love how Tales of Symphonia looks amazing despite how old it is =D
Symphonia was my favorite for the longest time. Then I played vesperia definitive edition. I loved it. Takes the spot as my favorite tales game.
For me Vesperia is the real successor of Symphonia, and having played Arise now I can tell it earns its place
You play phantasia thath take place 3.000 year from events of symponia
Berseria is my ultimate. Amazing storyline, incredible characters.
@@Dano_Mano Is it that bad?
Same here ^^
I kinda like the berseria combat in pc, not sure about console though.
Vesperia IS better
Yes! Best story of all tales games for me. But gameplay is symphonia for me
The amount of times I have played through Vesperia is unreal lol
That’s my favorite one and first one I played I haven’t finished it yet still in Act 2 almost done with it
the jump from berseria to arise is huge
Remembered playing Tales of Eternia when i was a kid. Felt like yesterday even though it has been 2 decades already ...
When introducing a game could you also mention what platform(s) they are on and if they are region specific like Japan only?
The platform for the games is listed in the description, I don’t know about region either coming from only knowing about the release Tales of Arise before this.
Cannot wait to play Tales of Arise!!!
It still won't be as good as Tales of phantasia, Tales of Destiny
@@deusvlad2.083 what makes them so good?
@@deusvlad2.083 Too early to tell. Haven't seen the real gameplay yet.
@@supersaiyan4293 from the looks of it theres only 2 characters in the game? that means its 1-2 player locale play my guess.
graphics do look great though and im sure the music will be up there with the rest of them. but im sad the story might be another cliche thats been used time and time again. unlike phantasia and destiny which had unique storylines.
@@deusvlad2.083 there’s gonna be more characters we even saw a glimpse of one at the end of the trailer. Hopefully the combat is better than tales of graces f
Tales of Symphonia will always be my favorite.
But tales of vesperia will always be the best out of the series :)
@@MarquinchMogule That's your opinion. I mean I love Vesperia a hell of a lot and it has absolutely the best ending, but Symphonia wins it for me as well. That game was a whole other level for me.
@@selenopheria the whole story was the best in any rpg I think I've ever played, between that and skies of Arcadia at least.
@@kylep8183 Which one? Symphonia or Vesperia

It feels like it was yesterday. Haha
Same, but with Majinken(Demon Fang) and Souhajin(Azure Edge)
Symphonia>Phantasia>Destiny>Vesperia. Best Tales of games.
Didn't expect you here
Hard agree !
Berseria? My first Tales game and it's pretty cool
@@zin2828 I'm EVERYWHERE!
Agreed, Symphonia is da best
Can't wait for the next game: "Tales of the Stories"
Lmao
Tales of Symphonia, you were my first tales games I played and I will always love you the most! I plan to order the PC version and play you very soon!
Dawn of the new world was my first game
@@ksmart1235 Sequels aren’t always so great and to me, I know now that the first game was better, take my word for it!
Graces was the first Tales game I owned, so it will always have place in my heart
The games went from pixels to looking like ps2 for 15 years to finally looking like a ps4 game.
Gotta love the consistency on not only spells but also sword moves, lol.
It's not a Tales if you don't hear someone yell "Tiger Blade" or "Demon Fang" over and over lol
I only just recently got into Tales series. Playing my first Tales game, Berseria. And pre-ordered Tales of Arise
Nice dude! Hope you liked Berserias Story!
Me too! I never heard of this Series back in the Day, but it's Pretty Cool and Different so far, even the Star Ocean Series❤
Nothing spoke to me quite like Symphonia. That is my favorite game ever and I always have a file going, I love it so so much.
That the first one i ever played!
@@mikegonzalez4551 Me too! Years later I grabbed Vesperia, then Abyss and Xillia and Graces, and now I'm playing Zestiria. Symphonia remains my favorite and I'm replaying it (again) now. Just hit disc 2~

I'm afraid of the pc version D: I hope they'll make a good optimized port !!
Tales of grace was my first tales ,and the game battle system was satisfying and enjoyable especially the moment you make a nonstop combo hit with malik flare lock
Tales of Abyss, Xillia 1 have the best Story so far for me. Berseria combat is great but interms of crazy combo, Xillia 2 is the best.
not even mentioning symphonia what LOL
What lol? Symphonia is the best.
Abyss really got me due to Luke's story. That twist and character development really made Abyss one of the better games I enjoyed the story for.
The best is clearly Zestiria you fools
@@doge6120 what are you talking about lol
This is amazing! Thank you!
I just bought Tales of the Abyss, looking forward to getting it next week :) Tales of Arise is on my list to get when it releases in the US

Symphonia, Legendia, Abyss, Vesperia, Graces, Xillia, Zestiria, Berseria, and Arise are all such great games...can’t wait to see what they make next in a few years.
Just finished tales of berseria and it’s one of my favourite games of all time
It's the best of the series, Magilou and velvet are perfect together

I’ve only played tales of a symphonia but I kinda want to get the new one that’s coming out, if it has similar music and style
You should also try playing Vesperia and Abyss.
@@allaroundgamer3167 Abyss has great story, with freerun you can defeat every boss even your level is low
Story of Vesperia not as good as Abyss or symphonia, but it has great, interesting battle system, every characters have their own styles to play with, although you need around 20 hours to unlock many limitation.
The new one is devil may cry. I'd play any other one
@@computervision557 for me Tales of Symphonia is the best by far from all the others, best story by far it starts as a simple adventure and ends as a masterpiece, great combat , lots of content with worth new game plus postgame content, you will love all the characters from your party and enemies unlike from other Tales that may have some generic/tsundere/annoying party members or enemies, have by far the funniest skits and last it gives you the Overmap that for some reason the the 3-4 latest titles dont even bother and made the games so much linear .
On the other hand Tales of Symphonia Chronicles: Dawn of the New World sucks very big balls, the only fun i had with it, is that you can catch enemy monsters and have them on the party but the rest is the reverse of what i said for Tales of Symphonia.
@@BrandonPaulLee lol.
I finished tales of arise this year, loved it and i had absolutely no idea there were so many games before it, i need to play more of them
Do you think it's great to start from arise as first game? I'll buy it now and seeing the others the only one I'm very interested too is in zestiria
@@hanselleiva yeah its like final fantasy where every game is different, arise was my first experience playing a tales game and i loved every minute of it
@@hanselleivaI'm probably too late but Zestiria is widely regarded by many fans as one of the worst in the series. So if you tried it and decided the series isn't for you, give the other games a try. And if you did like it, you've much to look forward to as other games are just better
My fave Xillia 1-2, Xillia 2 specially is very dark and emotional and the best 3 endings.
yea, xillia 2 feels more dark and...adult? Like...loan problems, politics, etc.

Also zesteria to the trash

Tales of Destiny was my first brush with the series. Been a fan since. One of my favorite JRPG franchises. Now I wish they'd bring back Grandia.
Still go back and play Grandia 1 every now and then. The storyline and characters were just so wholesome.
@@alondor8157 Same. That game holds a special place in my heart. It's kind of my favorite JRPG.
My first Tales game was Tales of Symphonia for the Gamecube. It was around 2009 when I played it. Still remember.
Tales of Phantasia is my favorite out of all of them. Seriously needs an amazing remake.
Definitely want a remake of it
They would make it trash, just like 99% of remakes ever made.
Great video. I think Symphonia and Vesperia are my favorite Tales games that I've played.
I think you missed one Tales of Destiny Remake, like the original one but on ps2 remake only Japanese.
Missed the remakes of games in general, like Innocence R and Hearts R
Skipped all the side games too, which are part of the series evolution, like Narikiri Dungeon/Tales of the World.
TOA was my first tales game and seeing these predecessors made me wanna play them they all look fun
1:52 I love that
-Did you see it?
-I didn't!
-just keep looking!
happy 25th anniversary tales of series!!! :3
I just started Tales of Vesperia (my first tales game) yesterday and was about to quit because combat felt so clunky. I ended up sticking with it because good doggo played better in combat. Now I just have to see where the story goes.
Watch the combat mechanics video's of passaro! There is a lot of crazy tech you can learn to make combat more entertaining.
Symphonia is most people first tales and the most iconic. You should start from there. It has the best story and characters as well. Graces and berseria has the best combat. Berseria is probably the best overall tales game.
Phantasia was one of my favorite RPGs from the Snes, this franchise was off with an awesome start.
Tales of Destiny is my all-time fav game after FF7... damn I miss those days when games had imaginative well-told stories and adventures.
Indeed
I miss those days too
Arise is such a massive upgrade. The other games barely even look like they are from the same series.
My first game was Tales of Phantasia, when I played it on PS1. I loved the Tales series ever since.
Phantasia is underated. Amazing game!

Tales of Eternia is still my fav all time. beautiful open world, excellent story, and also my first entry into Tales Of Series franchise.
Tales of Phantasia gba was my childhood...god, the memories of finishing the game until the end without using any cheats feels so good..well yeah, it took years to finish the game as a kid..
2nd game i finished playing was Tales of Innocence on the DS..love it so much..
3rd game, currently trying to finish is Tales of Hearts R on vita..
games that i wish i could play but couldnt since i dont have a playstation..Tales of Symphonia, Abyss, Vesperia, Graces, Xillia, Zestiria, Berseria..
but you can play the last three on pc right? I believe in you, you can set your heart to it and play the games of your desire!
As a Symphonia nut who's beaten that game at least 50 times and never played anything else other than abyss twice, this is pretty cool. I didn't realize how thematically similar the music has been throughout. Sometimes I wish I was still into video games just to follow the Tales series, this video was awesome.
Tales of Symphonia probably the best chapter of the franchise. Second place for Vesperia.
Arise on Series X and an LG CX is jaw-droppingly gorgeous. The combat has seen some nice changes as well; about 40 hours in and I've loved every minute.
