Tough love now - but GT12 is much like LMP class now, and is super fussy on setup. First you have to be on the correct compound and shore hardness of tyres, otherwise you might as well just go home. Second these cars have to be setup every time you put it down on track, as the tyres wear the setup changes, as dampers loose fluid the setup changes, as the ball diff gets dirty the setup changes so maintenance although very easy to do, is a absolute must every time you use it. Measure tyre dia first, then axle height spacers, then set ride height, then droop. This must be done EVERY time you put it down. That is what this class is, get your head around that, but boy when it’s in the zone do these cars grip and handle well. Big cuddle but it needed to be said 😂
Glad you stuck with it boss. Like with most things, those with more experience often help you more than you can help yourself. The internet is a lovely tool, but nothing beats a person with the expertise. I reckon with a touch more tuning and help, you would definitely not embarrass yourself. Had the pleasure of watching drive at mendip earlier this year, you're a solid driver, just need the car under you.
Yeh I agree with comments there is little suspension so tyres do the work its fine margins. MTC gives you margins. I personally want to buy 3 sets of tyres a season thats not possible in LMP.
I've just adopted a new Touring car, and I know exactly how you feel. Plenty of practise with the TT02 I have and can set it up for anything - touring car however, I've no idea. Lucky the lads at my local club are happy to lend their expertise with some of them being sponsored drivers
I know your frustration with pan cars back when I started racing OnRoad that’s all there was. I started with the cheapest version of the RC10L running mod GTP and even raced a RC10L with a .12 Nitro conversion built mostly from spare parts it was the most rudimentary Nitro car on the track compared to the 2WD full suspension purpose built .12 nitro cars of the time (but it was way lighter) once we started racing the first Tamiya Touring Cars I vowed never to run anything with foam tires again fast forward to now still not running anything with foam tires but I’m back with basically a pan car whenever I run F1 on carpet or MiniZ on an RCP track still a little tricky to setup and drive but without that added frustration of Foam Tires it’s just one less pain to deal with
You need a set if tyres per race ideally. The foam goes soggy if you re-use them. They all need trueing to the same diameter and then you dont have to change the car throught the meeting for ride height and rollout. You need to do prep prior to the meeting, setting the ride height and checking the tweak and side springs. The chassis also needs to be built balanced with radio gear before you go any futher. Checking the steering and making sure the car steers left and right the same amount is crucial. A ball diff can make the car easier to drive, but you need everything else right first.
I can't see how you're issue can't be related to the diff somehow - rear end at the very least. I'd change out to a ball diff so you can fiddle with the tension. The Awesomatix geared diff is best in class, so maybe try one of those.
Take two sets of wheels and tyres do 2 runs on one set change to 2 set repeat gt12 lmp racing I gup the front tyres 1/4 on the inside edge full goo on the rear 5mins before I race clean the tyres off gearing is most important making the car as fast as possible to the track hope this helps you
Cool plan. I have a secondhand TT01e and a TT02 laying about and an HPI RS4 (quite fun that). But it seems it might not be the car. It's just as you move to more advanced cars the setup gets exponentially more complicated. I find the learning curve for setups to be a bit steep at times, and good material on how to hard to come by. Good thing there's other rc-nuts willing to explain it :)
It sounds like your chassis might be tweaked. I had similar with an old tc, can't remember exactly how I fixed it, but think it involved loosening chassis screws and twisting it back straight. Ultimately, a rebuild and clean might be the best idea.
Loved GT12 but like you say after every race you have to adjust the car and becomes a headache when you leave it too long and the car drops off. I started racing Kamtec minis for a laugh but I was amazed by these things and ended up putting my Schumacher atom 3 on eBay 😂😂
where slight interested in GT12 but what scares me is the amaount of work that needs to be done to the car between runs to keep it perfect or if one goes the rout of just run the car ignoring the service and have in the end a hopeless mess of a car that got all sorts of problem like carls car got in turning kamikaze to the left.
Show us the neon, no detailed coverage on yt atm and would love more insight to this class, including build and tips needed, setup, race, upgrades (if any on the neon) and race again!
As you state, the more classes you race, the less time you spend on each class. Certainly there are likely transferable skills between classes, however, the reality is all other things (talent, gear etc), you won’t be as good as the person who has more time on that class than you. As long as you’re having fun.
A pan car pulling to one side under acceleration is almost always a tweaked chassis or a damaged bearing. I presume you now know the pound coin trick to check the tweak, by placing coins on both front tyres and picking it up in the middle to see which wheel lifts off first. And if you don't have a tyre truer you want to swap tyres from side to side every race or two to equalise wear.
How about you sell it to me for a half eaten mars bar and some milky way magic stars , maybe even a full mars bar as we share the same first name 😂 Can deliver it back to Blackpool for charge RC next year too lol
@PopalongRC that could be arranged however the atom shell would need to be signed 😁😁 Cracking job lads only been into RC again for a month at 36 and your videos have hurt my pockets greatly . Tt-01e arrived today for truck racing and touring cars .......
GT12 these days is basically just 12th scale Lmp but with a gt body… while it used to be a more ‘grass roots’ class with more simplistic chassis’ and focusing more on driver skill than having the best setup and latest and expensive chassis…
I'd have posted it back to Schumacher , and told them in no uncertain terms in colourful language the GT12 is a pile of doodoo 🤣🤣🤣 . Cougar racing ? , I didn't know couger women were into racing , unless it's a racey session in bed 🤣🤣🤣 . I hear quite a lot that Schumacher is average to below average . Personally I wouldn't buy a Schumacher 🤔 , as there are just other better RC's for racing , irispective of price .
Yeah, really terrible cars. Except for being current 1/12 world champion, 1/10 buggy euro champion, on the podium at the 1/10 off road worlds and sitting on TQ at the touring car world champs going on right now.
It’s worth sticking with. Great fun when they’re sorted. South Cambs on a Monday if you want more practice!
GT12 class seems so advanced now... Can't beat Tamiya Racing. Alot less variables and it's more driver than car 👍🏻
Carl it's all about setting the car up to the track I run a stock ball diff in my gt12 schumacher which I found in my old mardave and run q foams

that sums it up really

maybe i need to head back to MTC
Jesus man, the beard grew back fast... 😂
what can I say im a hairy guy
@@PopalongRC I'm just imagining that you flexed your jaw really hard and the raw testosterone just popped out a fresh beard 😆
Frontie is definitely a class you should try. You could come down to Aldershot, we run all year long
it is on the cards

sponsored drivers are always a good source of info
😀😀😀

it certainly can be frustrating this hobby at times

Very interesting. Yeah it's no fun when thinga aren't behaving as they should. Myself I'd possibly go the. 'race something that's fun' route.
the beauty of having lots of cars is I can move on when it gets too much
I'd love to have a proper go at MTC, I'll have to try and get over to Milton Keynes at some point!
David gale = ex pro ten European champion
he is very good

there is only so much room in my brain for the technical stuff
@@PopalongRC I know that feeling :)

Undo all the screws a few turns and let the chassis relax. Then do them up while pressing down on a flat setup board.
More TT-02B!
Also maybe another visit to Shoemacher HQ could yield some pointers on setup straight from the maker.
sounds like a plan
is the pink and bleu car even steering ?

on a positive note there are always local guru's to lend a hand and get the cars on the straight and narrow

will see what we can do
Another great video buddy, always enjoy your content, one question how on earth do you grow your beard so fast from your last video ? 🤣
we have a couple of videos out of sync so the beard will feature in another video soon ... but then it is gone
You say " bit of waffley one" like it's a bad thing 😊
sometimes it can be

hahaha
