The disadvantage is that you wont be able to manage the switch through the cloud key or controller of Ubiquiti

how many access points can be connected to a single switch? does long wiring(ethernet cable) affect the speed of the internet? let's say to a large area of campus, or is it possible to configure multiple switches to cover a campus with multiple and scattered buildings?
You can plug in as many access points as there are ports on your switch. If you're using PoE APs, you'll need to be mindful of the amount of power they will all need and how much power the switch supports. I believe you can go up to 100m (~330 ft) with CAT 5/6 ethernet cable before you start running into potential problems.
In large network environments, you usually have an MDF (main distribution frame). This is where the main switch/router is housed at as well as the internet connection and maybe other servers or other IT equipment. In other buildings, you have IDFs (intermediate distribution frames). They are usually smaller than MDFs and usually contain a switch and patch panel and maybe some other IT equipment. These IDFs are linked to the MDF via fiber cables. With the correct transceivers, you can go much further with fiber cables than with ethernet cables. There are also wireless solutions where you can send network traffic across two or more physically distant buildings.
How to set different SSID to different APs? And different passwords per APs?

If your router has a switch port, you can omit the dedicated network switch as long as you have enough switch ports for your wired devices. I forgot to mention that you will need some sort of power for the AP. I believe some Ubiquiti APs come with with a POE injector that you can use.

The controller comes in a software format that you can host on your own computer or dedicated server. If you don't want to do that, you can buy the cloud key controller. It has the software built in.
