Hi guys, first off thanks for all the great content. 2nd, so glad to have the first and best of all Adams back. The reason I comment though is do you have Amazon Affiliate links for Australia?
Love board games with people but man, the games I actually buy are expensive so I always go for those that have a solo mode as an 'insurance policy' in case my group aren't interested in something I've spent a small fortune on. 😆
Hi, Thanks so much for making this list, even though it seems like it hasn't gotten much traction (and it certainly deserves attention), on a personal level I appreciated it. I don't really have/know how to make friends, but this will help to keep me entertained in the meantime as I learn how to socialize and play board games with others. Please keep up the good work in these hard times, hard times and I hope you all find yourselves in good health. Sincerely, Alexander José Ovie Caselis
Your Python/ Black Adder level witticisms and sarcasm are much appreciated. Solo gaming insights encased in British humor are just what this American needed. Thank you, sir!
Adam, after watching your review (I'm a big fan of your videos), I bought Robinson Crusoe and it was everything you set it up to be. Multiple challenges, thinky preparation, a 40 page rulebook yet elegantly flowy gameplay - this is exactly my kind of game. Both playthroughs with my girlfriend and solo have been successful. Thank you to all of you on this channel for what you do for the board gaming community!
Wow great list, now I can tell all my friends that “sorry, I cannot play games with you, I am too busy playing a board game by myself.” Like a champion
completely agree with your number one. it also means that even if you are going to play the chisel you get to try out the story and try to solve the case. and yes i wish their was more l.a. noir. thanks for the list adam.
Love the new game channel, and you picked some great solo games for this. Ganz Shon Clever is possibly the first time in my life I ever enjoyed what I used to call Bing-type games, and I now know and love as Roll & Writes. If I were to timidly make a suggestion, lose the clip art as soon as creatively or financially possible. ***** 5-STARS!
I also like to play Villainous by myself flipping a coin if I get fated that turn. It’s a great way to learn how the character mechanics work without losing or holding up a game
Although I haven’t played in a few years Labyrinth: War on Terror 2001-???? was an incredible single player experience. It was an absolute beast with a ton of rules to learn, but once you knew what you were doing it was great. It also worked great as a competitive 2 player game
quest for the lost pixel, iron helm, and maximum apocalypse are the 3 favorite out of the 20(ish) solo-able games i have. quest for the lost pixel is a ridiculously good game that has juts an insane amount of content packed in the box.
Not suprised Mageknight wasn't here since this is a Starter list and that game has a shit-ton of complicated little rules. But boy when you do get it working its a fantastic solo game and is highly regarded as one of the best out there.
@@shaneannigans Mine as well, although the games listed here do look like a good way to start solo playing, especially if youre not into heavy fantasy like MK. The consulting detective one looks particularly tempting
@@jamesrodriguez3667 Yeah, if anyone is reading this and thinking of getting into solo board games, Mage Knight might be the greatest, but it'll take days to learn let alone play!! I also think this list is great for those looking to get into the solo board gaming hobby 🙂
@@shaneannigans Is there any easy to get started but challenging solo board games? My brain just shuts itself off when I'm reading rules but I love a challenge in a game. So far the only games that have catch my attention are mage knight and arkham horror but I know those have huge rule books which I'm worried about.
@@belto3149 you can go watch Ricky Royal's mage knight introduction and playthrough. A lot of people consider that to be the best introduction and you more or less know the rules by the end.
ok so I slowed the video down to .25 speed to catch all the screenshots of things to be anxious about in the real world, and the biggest takeaway is that at .25 speed, Adam sounds absolutely hammered.
As someone who enjoys the tedium of handling multitudes of cards but hates the randomness of TCGs, LCGs are my life, and Arkham Horror is basically my significant other in all but name. Yes I am sad how could you tell?
It is worth noting that 1 or 2 of the unlocks are not solo games but they are pretty good. I know the island one where you like gets stranded on island isn't and I like the reason it. Isn't it's a very fun gimmick where basically you and your partner? Are. Split up so you each get a separate half of the deck and you cannot talk to each other until you find a way to communicate to each other. And then you still can't show each? Other your cards until you're able to reconnect to each other. It's actually a really cool gimmick for the game but that's the only one. I can think of that you need one friend at the very least.
Love your list! I’ve tried this game called Lagim - a collectible card game based on the Philippines’s folklore and mythology. The art work of this game set is also impressive.
My favourite solo board game is the Set A Watch series, it's 1-4 players and the rules don't change on how many people. Plus one of my favourite parts is that it uses the box as part of the game
As someone who has very few friends who like board games, I appreciate this list. Incidentally, Gloomhaven is probably the best solo game I've ever played. You're essentially playing a video game, but without the video part. It works wonderfully solo, although I you to pay a lot of attention to what you're doing to know the intricacies of every class
If you want my advice on making friends, go find a board game meetup or something like that that you'll enjoy going to, go there regularly and try to make friends there
Adam please play a game by yourself or with one of your friends. I like watching people play video games... I know there's the pandemic and everything but maybe after?
I just picked up Box One, a single person game that's a collaboration between Neil Patrick Harris and card company Theory 11. Puzzles to solve, tricks to decode, etc. Can't wait to crack it open
You should do one about board games which have an online version (either via pc or app) and are just as enjoyable. And no, I'm not requesting it for more footage of your phone's cracked screen
Hey I'd also like to suggest Clank! solo. Clank is a fantastic deckbuilder/dungeon crawler and amazing with 2-6 players but still great with 1. The companion app gives you various quests to do solo and the danger of red threat cubes is always looming over you.
Space Hulk: Death Angel - the Card Game is a great solo game for masochists as it is absolutely savage but if you're a fan of the IP it really captures the grimdark feel. Still not beaten it after all these years
For me I love playing Mansions of Madness and Burgle Bros as Solo games but the best Pure Solo game experiences for me have to be Solomon Kane and Hostage Negotiator Career
There are 2 solo games that I own that I play. Dark Souls the board game and Fallout the board game are both great single and coop/competitive games... Chunky though.

Aparently someone in marketing thought. nobody in Germany would watch a Film called Captain 'America' while still keeping the new name in English. Anyway, where was I? Ah, yes. Got it. Why is your screen cracked?
I just bought Friday today at my local board game store. It's my first solo game. After my first actual playthrough (I spent 2-3 hrs on a mock playthrough to make sure I understand the rules correctly) I can tell I'm going to spend a lot of time playing this fun game!
@@poco_a_poco_music cool I'll keep those other games in mind next time I'm looking for games. Pretty sure my next solo game will be Final Girl though, where you play as the stereotypical "final girl" in a horror film, trying to survive to the end of the movie.

A few others that I have had a very good time playing solo are Samurai Spirit(from the designer of Ghost stories), Tiny Epic Galaxies, Star Realms Frontiers, and Kokoro: Avenue of the Kodama.
I am an opinion "The City of Angels" is disapointing in solo mode, and I wouldn't recomend to pay full price for just 1 player game. Doesn't worth it then. And everyone will immediateley realize how much from the game is not used in solo mode.
