Been living in Texas for 20 years. This is where I was born and grew up, this is where I'm from, the North Shore of Quebec. I feel very connected to the Innus even though I'm caucasian. This is where I'm from, these are my brothers. Kashtin. This is a great song. And what a talent, Claude McKenzie and Florent Vollant.
Great post. I love how music unites people from all cultures. I grew up loving this song as a kid watching Much Music. I had zero clue what they were saying but I could certainly feel their pride and passion. Great music and great culture. One Love.
This song takes me back in time to 1991, parts of that year, my jounrey in life was of great happiness, at the very same time, a very lonely and heart breaking year for me😢😇.
im an "indigenous native aboriginal that brown people we found" person. and we dont mind either name. we like any race as were all apart of earth. also shut up about this "idleNoMore" shit. that was embarrassing. got so many native women killed, raped and kidnapped.
Hello ! I am born at Forestville and I moved in Seven-Island for 5 years. I always follow Kashtin every where I move ! I became American in 2020 and live in Orlando, Florida. I am a Big Fan of Kashtin and I introduce their Musique to My Wife and She always ask Me to play Kashtin ! She Love Kasthin too like Me.
Had a dream, we were headed to the trap line. My mother sitting beside my father. Kashtin playing on the radio. My father encouraging us to sing. So, my sisters and I would sing with whatever we could. My sisters don't sing anymore. My parents split, but this song came back in a strange dream I had last night. Replaying a scene when I was truly happy... almost 30 years ago now.
As a kid I used to listen to Kashtin all the time. My parents had them on a cassette, so naturally I listen to them all the time growing up. I still listen to them time to time, I can't never get tired of their music ☺️ Even though I can never understand what they are singing about.
Was just thinking about all the great music to come out of Canada in the 1990's. From Celine Dion to Jeff Healey Band, Blue Rodeo, Colin James, Sue Medley, Amanda Marshall to Kashtin. What a lineup!
I took my girlfriend (at the time) to see you in Wikwemikong, camping out on the pow wow grounds many many years ago. It was a magical time and I still think of that time with a smile on my face (apperantly she does too, we were talking about it today)
A dear friend of mine were discussing Kashtin the other day .. Had to watch this ..It stirred my spirit .. Feeling a connection with these people .. The song feels powerful, even though I don't understand what is being sung .. Good thoughts to all
This native group, coming from Newfoundland/Labrador, were very important to me as a Canadian coming from Europe. It was the one of the first time that the native people expressed their music in modern trends. Kashtin were the forerunners of the group "The Tribe called Red" situated in Ontario, Canada. "Kashtin" was the first modern native group to help to introduce native culture, music to non-native people, like me. I still love Kashtin but unfortunately this group does not exist anymore.
I found this song about 5 years ago but could never remember the song or the band name. Just heard it today on the radio and I’m so happy to be jamming this out again!
I grew up hearing kasthin. I still some times hear songs. But still know no where they are come from and which language is? Its time to know more of them❤️(:
Just imagine how much more beautiful this continent would have been if the french, british, dutch and spanish would never have settled here! God bless the First Nations and its peoples!
They still perform every year together at Maleotenam in Quebec during Innu Nikamu! I think they sell their CDs at the festival! It's happening right now
2024 Canada Day on the hill. These girls on the stage started a song and I think ........ hey I know this ! I probably haven't heard it in 30 years , so something must be good if I it stick with you like that right ?!

They were HUGE in Greenland in the 90's. Our inuit-brethren. Good music is still good music.

As canadians we should embrace the native culture much more. There is an authencity to it that is lost in pop western culture
This song is awesome!
#IdleNoMore ✌

8 years ago. Damn proud to be a successful indigenous man🤙🏾 this song played in my pool room in the early 2000’s.

Beautifull clip !
Being a kid and loving it! Nostalgia
I liked E uassiuian too. People in Labrador loved North of 60 also because of the strong aboriginal culture back there.
Xx
I'd love to see your band live
I did in Victoria BC, during Commonwealth Games 1994, in front of the Legislative Buildings at night. They were on before or after the Rankings. Ruth
