    Very thorough and detailed. Really appreciate the quick cuts. Keeps the video from getting boring😴. And I'm glad you showed the magician first. Most videos show the install but they skip the cloning. That seems important

    But, why AHCI is deactivated? Your Windows was instaled on Legacy?

    • @TechAfterDark
      @TechAfterDark  3 роки тому

      Sorry about that! All you need to do, is make your SSD a priority boot! So restarting your PC and click del or F1 or whatever your bios needs to boot in! Then you need to go to boot options and assign the right SSD. Make sure it's #1 so it always boots to your new OS on your SSD drive!

      @@TechAfterDark I'm having a problem where windows is crashing whenever I play certain games. Some games I can play for hours and it's fine but some games will crash after like an hour and if I try it again right away it will crash even sooner. If I uninstall and reinstall the game it will work again like the first time, about an hour, but it will still crash eventually. This only seems to happen with games that have more demanding graphics. I'm using a ryzen 5 2400G with the integrated graphics so it doesn't take much to max out my graphics but I'm getting the problem even with games that I had never had a problem with when I had my old SSD. This all started when I upgraded from a ADATA SU800 256GB to my Samsung 870 EVO 1TB SSD.
      At first I tried using the data migration software to clone the drive and eventually windows kept crashing to the point where Windows wouldn't even start anymore. So I did a clean reinstall using a USB drive and I'm still getting this problem. I don't know what else it could be. I was hoping it would be a simple thing like needing to update drivers for my Samsung SSD but I could find no info about having to do that. If you could think of anything I would really appreciate it. If not that is okay. I'm sorry to dump all of this on you.

    Would you recommend this Samsung 870 EVO SSD in the 4TB form for Storing 4K 60Fps content? I have an NVME for my operating system and my software. So basically when I get done editing everything and it starts to render, it would be stored in the SSD. I currently have a 2TB HDD but it's Super Slow vs the NVME, I just got a new PC. Thanks again for your reply.

      Ya, i would get a evo 870 instead of the 2tb hdd! If you can swing it get a m.2 drive! you can get enhanced speeds over a regular ssd. but the 870 still is super fast! And way better than an hdd

      @@TechAfterDark I actually went for the 870 Evo SSD the 4TB version and wow what a freaking huge improvement lol! What took me 72 hours to transfer 365GB of 4k videos I made from my old computer 2009 HP TouchSmart 610 with 1TB HDD to my PNY 512GB usb and from that same usb to my new PC (Razer Tomahawk Gaming Desktop) with the new 4TB Samsung 870 Evo SSD was literally 10 minutes!!!!! My wife wanted to Punch me in the face for having my old PC on for 72 hours transferring 365GB of Content over to my usb because the PC faces her side of the bed and she couldn't sleep even with the screen brightness at the lowest setting lol! She even told me that I should just change the 1TB HDD in our old pc to a SSD to improve the speeds since there is technology nothing wrong with it other then it being slow for my Content creation Hobbie. So I'm going to definitely consider it. It's unbelievable how fast the SSD is to a HDD. The new PC is in my living room so I won't disturb her or my kids should I stay up at night editing videos for my channel.

    I currently have a HDD and am looking to upgrade to this (870 eco ssd 500gb) but my HDD probably has ~1.8 Tb of data. So is it possible to only “clone” or transfer certain things. In my case, windows and some other various games and applications? Without messing anything up, and keeping both drives working?

    • @TechAfterDark
      @TechAfterDark  2 роки тому

      Ya! I would honestly put just the operating system on the SSD, and transfer anything you need from the HDD. and install chrome ect and needed applications. I wouldn't try to clone it or anything, just go with a clean upgrade! Your Windows genuine key will be linked to your Microsoft account, so just install the windows upgrade tool on a usb and install it on your SSD! :)

      One of the OG monitors, just to plug it in. I've got better ones, but I use them for my main PC setup! This old one was to just showcase for the tutorial! :)

    I did all steps up until when I tried to power up the computer with the new samsung ssd connected, it wouldn't boot the bios, tried all f keys and delete. Checked the cable as well. What could have gone wrong?

    I plugged in the SSD to USB and refresh but it does not recognize the SSD. The USB port is good!
    What else can I do?
