At first I didnt realise why am I crying listening to these songs... But when I think about it and read the lirycs... I see the horrible truth. Those are true cries of bulgarian mothers witnessing the murder and rape of their own beloved families for 500 years... Yes these songs are sad. That explains why these ancient echos of pain and suffering are still resonating in my genes, heart and soul. And not only bulgarians! People from other countries shatter in tears without even knowing the lyrics nor our history! The pain is encrypted in the sound, so every living human can hear THE CRIES OF ANGELS! ! !

Bulgarian music is just... otherworldly. The beauty, richness and emotional honesty in their folk songs is amazing. So much admiration for the Bulgarians and I hope to learn their language soon.

@@dazenguile5960 I wholly agree with HungryEars. Desi is extremely talented, and her performance is absolutely outstanding. At the same time, however, with all deep respect for her and all of the other extremely fine singers who have come along since Yanka was in her prime, I also agree with you, too. To me Yanka will ALWAYS be the lioness, a belief with which, I imagine, Desi and all of the other fine singers would agree.
By the way, if anyone wants to hear more of Desi's singing, I just saw that she joined the Abagar Quartet.

It is about people coming to knock on the door a family, they dont say who they are but wish to be opened. The family wishes to be respectful and help, if there is something. Turn out that those people were Ottoman men, seeing the beautiful daughter before in the day, they have come to take her.

@@vasil.kamdzhalov the people who were knocking on the door were pretending to be a marriage party sent to ask for her hand, not to help her with her wedding.
"Glavim" from "glaviavam" in some dialects doesn't mean to hire someone but to ask for someone's hand and in the past, it was not the young man who asked for a maiden, it was his family who would go to negotiate with the future bride's family.
That's why they are called in the end "ne sa bili godezhari, nai mi bili osmanlii".
