Best board game tournament would be difficult since unlike with bad board games where a short blurb is enough to let you know why they’re bad, it’s near impossible to tell which good board game is better than its competition unless you’ve actually played all the board games to know from experience. It’ll end up with people upset as it’s most likely the most obscure board games that lose rather than the worst ones, and there’s no way to avoid that.
I would love to see a Loser's Bracket - although will admit, part of me would had wanted to see this as a double elimination... Actually, that makes me want to see the loser's bracket, but the first round would split the bracket into two: the ones heading towards being the worst game who was knocked out early, and the __best of the worst__ - the game that constantly 'loses' it's matchups, until 'losing' the grand losers final and proving that they are the best of the worst.
@@blubberfishIt would have to be separated by genres too. Brass: Birmingham, Mansions of Madness and Just One are all great games, but provide wildly different experiences.
I still can't believe RPS was one of the finalists. Yes, it's a useless overpriced piece of plastic, but at least I can spend a few minutes playing with it. There were so many other boardgames in this competition that I wouldn't try at all, or games that would suck my will to live if I tried them at all.
i don't think there should be another tournament until next march. maybe do a bunch of videos about games that will be included in the tournament in the next year to let that anticipation build up. i for one don't want another tournament rn. i think there's a real risk of tournament fatigue.
I'm not even that big into baord games but got really invested in this, so much so that I went and looked up how all the competitors were played and everything! Glad to see a worthy winner take the trophy, and still slightly disappointed that Do the Urkel never made it into the torunament :P
I came in too late to join the bracket (and probably wouldn't have joined since I wouldn't dare take that prize away from a true board game enthusiast) but this was a blast to witness. I had been cheering on Public Assistance just for how mean spirited it is but Adultery definitely deserved the win here.
Know it’s been said a bunch already but definitely feel like a best board game tournament should be next, possibly with community suggestions for the starting 64 (cough cough moonrakers is my personal choice for best)
Got recommended the first video of this completely by random, and was so entertained by the presentation and excited about the terrible ideas of the games themselves that I watched all of it all the way through. Awesome stuff!
I admit I fully expected Adultery to go down to Ms. Monopoly in the round of 16, but was an easy final 4 against most games. I dunno if it was the worst game, but it was up there.
I just randomly came across the opening round in my recommended a few days ago. Even though I'm not super into board games, this was a great watch all the way through.
Maybe you could do a video comparing different versions/releases of games over time. Considering how long something like Monopoly is on the market, I could see some interesting differences there.
This was a lot of fun! If you do a loser's bracket, I'd probably space it out so it isn't perceived as your channel's only thing, but if it's game enough to count, I imagine BreakKeys would have a good run. One-on-one trying to break the other key, meaning if it loses once it's retired. Bad collectible game.
I think it’d be really interesting if you did this same bracket but the end goal is the “best” one. Like if you had to play these games which would you rather play
This tournament was a joy! I am extremely satisfied with my third place in the bracket creator. I will continue to look forward to whatever your channel works on next
the supercut should exclude all the in-video ad breaks. they were kinda annoying in short form. i cant imagine how much worse it would be to skip ten seconds every couple minutes long form
one board game is truly awful to play is Lifeboats. The one where people take turns throwing players overboard and being super cut throat. Trust me when I say, you'll play Lifeboats once and never play it again.
Adultery winning the whole thing wasn't my prediction, but I respect the choice. What a terrible concept for a game. CFNA's placement is still respectable too. I've been a little bit swayed into thinking this game is too baffling and interesting to truly consider the worst, but it still is an unreasonable commitment for something that ideally would be over in four or five hours max. If you end up doing a best of best board games tournament, I'd honestly wonder if it would be fair to include chess or not. It isn't even my favorite board game (that's Scrabble), but there's something to be said for a game that has been loved and played for centuries that also has several serious clubs and tournaments worldwide. By longevity alone it may deserve a or even the top spot, but hey - I could be wrong. Great series!
Some of the ones suggested in the vid are already interesting. “Worst Card Game” I think you even go more specific between playing card games or TCGs, and if you go with TCGs, I think you ought to collab with Kohdok to introduce us to some really obscure old trading card games that came out to ride the hyper of MtG and Pokémon without knowing what made those games work. As for playing card games, even I don’t know that many different games you can play with playing cards but I’m sure there’s good and bad ones, could even include bad preconstructed deck games like Uno and collab with Massacre’s Mansion, who has been researching every version of Uno and has found some truly foul ones.
And “Worst Sport,” I already have an assumption American Football might be on the list due to the comparatively high risk of brain injury, but there have been so many other sports we’ve played that both hurt the participants or are not entertaining to watch. Many of which don’t even get play anymore or had official codified versions that had to be heavily modified to be fun. Quidditch as described in the Harry Potter books, for example, had to be heavily modified before people were actually interested in playing a real life simulacrum just on the basis of how the game only ends when one team’s seeker catches the snitch, and the snitch is itself worth 150 pts while every ball is worth only 10, making it so that the snitch is the only thing that really matters in the game.
Whatever you end up doing, I do think we should have some vids in the interim to properly introduce some of the potential candidates for the brackets before the brackets appear
Some other potential themes: -Best/Worst Combo-Game Deck I’ve been getting into products like The Flex Deck and the Everdeck, card decks meant to support multiple games like playing cards, Uno, Tarot, Hanafuda, Dominoes, Scrabble, etc. And just based on design and layout, let alone what games they try to combine, I know some of these do it better than others. -Worst Kickstarter Board Games Plenty of which never came out, but there’s also many with strange stories behind them, even if you want to avoid ones like Katalyka to avoid harassing an allegedly mentally ill creator. -Worst Monopoly I know we had Gay and Ms. Monopoly in this bracket, but I’m not sure they deserved to get in over Cheater’s edition.
-Worst Recalled Toy of all Time. I’m not sure this needs more elaboration, but yeah: the Burger King Pokeball, the Skip It, The Cabbage Patch Snacktime Kids, the Sky Dancers, Magnetix… there’s so many toys that have been recalled due to unforeseen dangers they poses to children, but are also toys that some will find legitimately fun. Which is the worst in terms of both not being fun and being the most dangerous? Let’s subjectively decide!
I personally think adultery coasted through this tournament not on its merits as a bad game, but instead almost purely of shock value. That the worst board game is somehow something that is enjoyable seems as though the system has failed, at worst it is a neutral experience that you might bring out at a party to have a little fun with, it doesnt actually cause you to have a bad time playing it. It is unfortunate to see it win it all purely on its theme
IDK I at first thought this way, then I heard the gameplay actually described and frankly it sounds bad enough to render the game pointless for it's intended audience.
@@RocketboyX Brother, I am not the one bemoaning about how the adultery board game where you do adultery was deemed the worst when it's "so fun, you guys, you just gotta try it, it's so much better than it seems!". I'm not interested in playing a sex board game that asks me to cheat on my lover when fucking Lords of Waterdeep is right there and is also good.
I see many suggest the best of all time tournament, but everyone's taste in games is way too different for it to feel as fun as the worst of all time. What may seem like the greatest game ever to one person is simply ok for another.
Do a Losers Bracket and a Best Board Game of All Time tournament
A best tournament would just be full of people complaining why their favorite wasn't on the list.
There needs to be a most mid board game tournament.

My bracket had Oy Vey as the winner, you can see how well that worked out. Congrats to Adultery and to Jesset Lou!
Not even a big board game guy, but this was recommended to me from the start and I’ve tuned into every update
I’d be interested in a weirdest licensed board games of all time bracket.
Pac-Man: The Card Game
I knew about the board game, but I've never heard of the Pac-Man card game. My brain hurts just thinking about it.@@Wertercat
I’d like to see, as more long form content, a play through of Campaign for North Africa: The Desert War 1940-43
We're pioneering the new Lifelong content UA-cam's been clamoring for
We've determined the worst of the worst. While I love the idea of the loser's bracket, we should look for the best of the best

Yes!, it went how I hoped. I knew RPS not being an actual board game would stop it in the finals.

Yeah same with adultery. Unless hookers are involved, adultery is normally free.
