- Exploring the abandoned Wet ‘N’ Wild water park in North Shields, Newcastle upon Tyne.
BRIEF HISTORY OF LOCATION:
Opening in 1993, Wet 'n' Wild at Royal Quays, North Shields, was the largest indoor water park in the UK. Hundreds and thousands of visitors flooded in eager to try out the new pools and slides including the Kamikaze, Abyss and the Lazy River.
Originally home to Britain’s biggest water slide, the 165 metre long Black Hole, the attraction became a much-loved place for birthday parties and family activities.
In 2020, the lease holders Serco Leisure announced that the park would not reopen in that year. Later in the 2020, having leased the park for six years, Serco Leisure bought the building outright, however have yet to confirm if the park will be reopened as a going concern or if the site will be redeveloped.

This is so eerie seeing it like this. Once upon a time it was filled with laughter and squeals 😢
Great videos lads , myself and a few others were close to exploring this immense part of my youth . Some people may frown upon your actions but all your doing is exploring and I for 1 love it . Keep up the good work lads your videos are great to watch
Thanks so much u for the kind words and feedback we really appreciate the support🙏🙏👊🏻👍
I frown upon them for their trespass
intense with them alarms going off love all your vids
Good video lads
I remember wet and wild like it was yesterday, I had my 7th birthday party there and also swimming lessons (in the lazy river for some reason- which looking back was a bit weird), not really anywhere quite like it in newcastle anymore, it stunk of chlorine and was either absolutely freezing or boiling hot, but still, hope it opens up again, lots of fond memory's from that place
Yeah it was crazy to see it all empty I hope it opens back up again too!
Mateee!! That’s class that like, a haven’t been to this place in over 10 year! Would love to do what you’s done like but ad skitz out hahaha. Class video man. I was happy seeing the inside of the place again haha
Glad you enjoyed the video, yeah it was class to have one more look at it after all those years.
@@Northerndecay I only live about 30 mins away in Gateshead so might have a trip up soon before it’s impossible to get in haha
I’m so sad that it’s never going to open again.
Only went a few times but it was class especially after an all nighter at the After Dark.
wow now a was on edge lol watching i was like oh no police gonna come catch you inside lol, brill good one boys well done i rnjoyed that. who was sthe lad with the hat on.
Glad you enjoyed the video yeah it was pretty sketchy but good to revisit an old childhood memory
I bloody loved the waves and lazy river, sad it closed horrible seeing it abandoned with so many memories there
Spent some amazing weekends here as a teenager 😢sad to see it like this
I remember going years ago and my overriding memory was it was seriously hot inside which made me feel quite ill.
Yeah I can still remember that hot, sweaty chlorine smell🤣
What a great video! Did you see if there were still brochures at the entrance? If anyone has brochures of Wet n Wild, I would love to buy.
Remember frequenting Wet ‘n’ Wild quite a bit when it first opened, me and my mates would be crapping ourselves getting off at the Meadow Well Metro station as it was only a couple of years after the riots and it still had a really bad reputation. Nowt ever happened like, it was fine. Good times at Wet ‘n’ Wild though. Remember being wet and freezing in the queue for the Kamikaze, you’d be dry by the time it was your turn.
Child hood memories left to rot hope it opens
Yeah such a shame to see it like that
Been in the paper this weekend they've applied for planning to demolish it.
@@JamesW81 so sad to hear when will that be happening
@@VRCOOPER-YT no idea mate, not even sure if the planning has been approved or will be.
@JamesW81 been Approved. Bloom Developments. See North Tyneside planning applications online.
This is a kick right in the childhood like
Were you guys scared in there, looks so scary
Who's that noisey ADHD jack in the box you brought with you 😂 🙄
Same 'explorers' would go 'exploring' some old persons house if they found it unlocked in the middle of the night.
@@Thaitanium73 na don’t think we would mate. says more about yourself as a guilty mind generally always accuses others!
you are so sad i send you love and hope you see it there just young people having fun so many bad things going on and you want to throw stones at them take a look at your self
No they wouldn’t, most abandoned explorers are very respectful.
