As a 16 year old metal head in 1987 pandemonium blew me away, Rex Irae being my standout track, 2020 as a 49 year old metal head listening to this beautiful performance is simply outstanding.
I literally cannot believe i've waited 33 years to hear this. Absolutely incredible, note-perfect, even capturing the '87 guitar sound and those off-kilter guitar solos. This song ruled the summer of '87 for me. After Pandemonium, i was primed for Alternative Metal: King's X, Warrior Soul, Mordred, Bathory, Living Colour, Jane's Addiction, Nirvana... that album and this song opened the gates. Momentous.

The first thing I thought of after watching Gojira’s incredible performance at the Paris Olympics opening ceremony yesterday. My favorite CF song since it blew me away when it originally came out. Never saw this version before! So cool to see it live with a full orchestra. Incredible!

Outstanding performance by the orchestra and from Triptykon, from the actual atmosphere to the mixing, unbelievably Grandiose. This comment section is just full of close-minded, and uninformed people... Really sad. This is a project that started in 87 with "Into the Pandemonium". Of course this dont sound exactly like the usual Triptykon or Celtic Frost (Even though I can see that all over the place), it's a REQUIEM, a musical composition, so thats why the use of the orchestra and the beautiful choir.
This is euphoric! Ever since I first heard this in '87 I have wished to see Celtic Frost do the entire Pandemonium album live w/ an orchestra, and especially Rex Irae. Into the Pandemonium will always be for me one of the most important metal albums of all time. Love Morbid Tales and To Mega Therion, of course, but this was groundbreaking, both sonically and thematically, paving the way for sooooo much that came after it. The dark languishing and melancholic moods are expressed beautifully. This is art. There are depths here most would never traverse. I absorbed this album for months after it was released. And I still return to it time and time again. Thank you
I've loved this cd from day one 1987 17 years old major influence on my life and new understanding of deeper thoughtful music ,thank you Tom G and your female singer deserves so much praise she and you are perfect contrasts you'll be forever a musical hero of mine thank you.
I guess we found some of the people who never listened to Celtic frost in the comments. Rex irae was ahead of its time in 1987. As for this live performance, it’s ok of course it wasn’t going to be as dark as Triptykon since that music concept wasn’t even formed until monotheist came out in 2006. Tom G. Warrior wanted to finish this project for Martin Eric Ain. Seeing this only makes me excited for the new Triptykon album, hoping for a 2021 release.
I, honestly, do not believe that I am worthy of playing music after hearing that. I ... um ... except for hearing the other parts ot the Requiem. Winter, and Grave Eternal. I take back any, all things, that I have EVER said about Cold Lake and selling out and any of that. 100 percent. Tom Warrior, THANK YOU!! This...THIS. IS. MUSIC.
Triptykon seems to have given a lot of emphasis on the orchestral elements to give these songs a bigger sound for the live setting. While it may have taken away a lot of the darker elements of the studio versions, I still really like this
Cool picture. The vocalist Safa Heraghi also did the female vocals for the 3rd disc of Triangle: The Supernal Clear Light of the Void. Another interesting fact, the drums and percussion for Triangle were recorded at Woodshed Studio that is owned by V. Santura. The mixing and mastering also took place there.
Wow!, I didn't know this video existed. I've been a fan of CF since Morbid Tales was released. Between Morbid Tales, To Mega Therion, & Into The Pandemonium (released within three years of eachother!), it broke so many barriers and rules. Totally unique and intriguing. Great performance! I remember reading a CF article back in the days of To Mega or Pandemonium and Tom spoke of the plan for future albums that sounded very exciting. Of course they took a detour instead shortly after, from apparent pressures from their label. Unfortunate. They are the only artist like this that i still listen to from the 80s. Excuse me while i watch the performance again!
