Mette Rasmussen is one of the most interesting younger players working today. Bend an ear to her work with SAFT, Trio Riot, Chris Corsano, just to point to a few examples. She plays very free and open music, very tightly syncopated music, coaxes a great range of sonic effects from her instrument, and her risk taking is as admirable as her discipline. This double drummer, double double-bass Quintet cooks and sizzles with a great dynamic range and ensemble interplay. Just pointing to Paul Lytton's 40-plus year career, there is a background of unique world class musicianship here, if visitors to this video are unfamiliar with the players, as Mr K-Dog-DK appears to be.
