Great video! I have never seen a McNeilus Metro-Pak and it's weird how the landscaping company is responsible for trash collection, but I guess it makes sense. Also, congrats on 100 videos!
This one's got an RL sound I really enjoy during packing - that continuous revving where you distinctly hear the end of each of the four cycle stages. I watched a couple of other Metros not long ago and the packing was a slow process, but this one goes nice and quick as it should! A very clean truck too, yet I guess it doesn't get as much shit thrown at it compared to other RLs eh? The brakes at 8:13 and 11:37, something I love and hate hearing, lets off a heavy duty kinda feel.
Nice find! Truck sure looks good. I like the little piles at each stop too. That's cool how the landscaping company also does trash pickup. The wheels on this truck look cool, kind of a foreign like wheel. Reminds me of the wheels on Mack Midliners. Awesome vid!
Thanks man, yeah I definitely like this CCC / Metro-Pak combo. Not something you see too often. Definitely weird how landscapers also do trash, but yeah, kinda cool. Thanks for the comment!
By far my favorite produced mcneilus product. Really enjoyed this! Inspired me to go find BDs metro. Nice to see it's on a CCC too. Congrats on 100 videos aswell!
True manual collection right there, no carts, no bins, just bags, a rear loader and packing all day. Very interesting how the landscaping company is responsible for trash collection, I've never heard of that before. Anyways this truck reminds me of a picture I saw of a truck similar to this one, but once owned by ESD. I also love how they just pack it all in, I mean at 7:21, you think that they can't fit anymore and they would start the packer but no, they keep packing it in. But then again I guess you see the result of doing just that at 7:45 when it just looks like it's just going to all fall out due to the packer having to adjust to start the packing. Overall awesome video, I mean I won't lie, one of the best manual collection videos I've seen in a while. So congratulations on a home run... lol. Also Congratz on the 100 videos. And btw awesome truck, not to mention the chassis, just noticed I didn't mention nothing about that truck sorry lol.
Thanks for the comment man, I really appreciate it. Yeah, for sure, there's something about totally manual that grabs my interest. Can't say I've ever heard of a landscaper doing trash either, makes me wonder how many other small random neighborhoods do something similar out here. Hmm, what did ESD run like this? Old CCC F4000s or McNeilus or something? As for the packing, makes me wonder if they do other neighborhoods on other days or if they don't empty it every week. This was only the beginning of the route, just three streets of piles like this. There's still a lot more single family to do (which you'll see in a future video) after the areas shown here. Probably would help if the helpers didn't majorly overload the hopper forcing two or three cycles to actually clear it rather than packing a bit more often so they don't have to hold the bags in haha. Thanks for all the kind words and taking the time to write a comment other than "nice vid", it really means a lot.
The MetroPak is the McNeilus version of the Formula 4000 from Heil with some changes, new packer plate, new curved shell body. Retained the old classic tailgate with only some changes
This is Mcneilus version of the Heil Formula 4000. They actually paid Heil to use this design with Mcneilus improvement. Neither Heil nor Mcneilus use this design anymore. Heil mixed the Powertrack and the 4000 together and came up with the PT model.
Nah, McNeilus still makes new Metro-Paks. I think they're focusing on their international customers with them tho and they're pushing the M5 more in the states
That was rather entertaining... is the hopper smaller than usual McNeilus? Seems like it, or maybe it's just the crappy way of packing. Really reminds me of Curbside. Except that the driver never got out nor backed into those driveways so the crew doesn't have to walk a mile back to the truck. Do you have any pictures of the truck or shots from the front (or driving shots)? Never really got to see the front of it.
Great footage! Loved it! The truck looks in great condition. I wonder how old it is? Its pretty weird but cool how a landscape company picks up garbage from residents. congratulations on the 100th video! Great work!
It seems as if their job would be easier of the people used cans to hold a bunch of little bags. The truck is real cool and has a good scream to it when they run the hopper. 7:48... yeah they really overloaded the hopper there. How long does it take for them to load out? Fantastic post overall
Neat little truck. Looks pretty cool with the CCC. Still find it so strange that so many places in AZ dont use containers of some sort. Guess wild animals arent as big of a problem there lol and it sure is a bit odd (but cool) that the landscaping company collects waste as well. great video
Yeah, it's pretty different, but I like the Metro-Pack / CCC combo. Definitely better than a standard 'Neilus. Surprisingly we have a lot of wild life, this particular neighborhood backs up to the hills and some streets even go up into them. There's a lot of rabbits, coyotoes and javalinas (like wild pigs) around so I'm surprised it's not really an issue. Guess it kinda makes sense to have a landscaper as a hauler, why contract with another company when one can do landscaping, dog waste stations, and litter removal. Makes me wonder how many other random neighborhoods have their landscaper preform manual trash removal. Thanks for the comment
Thanks! I really liked this truck too, definitely isn't something I would expect to find in AZ. I really regret not using my tripod / getting a proper video of it.
Very nice! I love all the bags instead of cans. Really enjoyed this, please go back for more!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it - expect to see the recycle soon, done by a different hauler/truck.

Nice cycle time. Bet guys get frustrated with trucks that take forever to flush. All that extra time waiting adds up. Especially on FRIDAY.
