IAT/ MTT | When to use it and why you should... or shouldn't | DCS Apache

- It's neat, i'll grant you that, but the IAT and MTT will not solve your issues if you can't use manual track and the LMC. Keep practicing!

I have used it to defend myself against other Helicopters with Hellfires. Lasing them with manual track would have been Impossible. Im not saying it is easy to get the initial IAT or that it is how you should use it in the real world, but it shure Works in DCS.😄
As far as I know, in DCS point track on fixed wing TGPs also just lock on to the closest object, and don't use contrast as they would IRL. It gets frustrating if the object you are tracking is driving on a road and the TGP switches over to the light post or the fence.
Tey to hit a vehicle traveling alongside a road with poles using the maverick haaaaaa u will die twice before you hit
great video dude! I agree that this defo shouldnt become a crutch, i was playing with a buddy and i got an IAT on bmp but when i shot the hellfire it actually flew slightly long and missed because of how the TADS was tracking it, so i just said ''ite switching to manual track'' and i did it the good old fasioned LMC way and i got a shack, so yeah knowing how to do both is optimal!
I was NOT aware this system was implemented yet! This is going to make going from Tgt to Tgt so much easier when they're in clusters like this! I was storing each target individually, which was taking too long! Now, I'll be able to store locations instead of individual targets and then use IAT/MTT to track them and go one after the other to lase and shoot! :)
Thank you so much for this video! :D Going to put it into practice tonight.
3:04 Wasn't the new FLIR implementation supposed to fix that in the first place? I mean, it doesn't even remotely look cold.
6:19 The drops seem very random though. Would totally understand if there was a loss of contrast. Looks more like LTT than MTT :P
As a mainly fast jet flyer i only really use the IAT as a point track like in the Litening pod
Thanks. To think I removed my bind the the linear compensation for this. Now I think I understand what is really important
Great video as always. Got a question not related to the video main subject. How were you able to put hot units on your mission? You even mentioned "cold at start" for one of the units. No matter what I do all my units start cold, "cold at start" ticked or not. Tried late activation and other stuff without success. I guess I'm missing something.
Skipping the LCT and just coming to your channel
I would like to know how you get vehicles to light up so brightly in FLIR. Ever since the update my objects are barely visible whether BH or WH and I have lev and gain attached to dials on my throttle and i can adjust both of them all night and they are never as bright as I see in this video!! What am I doing wrong?
Great tutoriall! Thanks!
MTT must be one of those MTADS features. Glad legacy TADS/PNBS is gone.
Not a big front seater but damn good video.
You know what I want CASMO, for my buddy to fly the Apache as steady as you had it in this video. This tool does me little good since half the time I’m riding a roller coaster up front. Great video though! Appreciate all you do and your service to this country! Also, TEDAC in development at Komodo Simulations. Looking good, you should check it out if you have not already.
maybe u should try flying it or put on auto hover
@@agidotexe7167 Oh I do! I fly with the AI pilot now if I am using the CPG. I consider myself fairly decent at flying the Apache, but my buddy requires a little more practice . But don’t take my word for it, check out me flying it on my channel. Everything is shot in VR, the only way to fly! Plan on doing a low level night flight video here soon in the Apache.
Komodo is complete trash at boutique level pricing. I bought a cyclic from them, literally sub Saitek quality.
It's a great tool for tracking and lasing targets through trees 😂
Nice :)
do I still have to lase constantly selected image auto track targets?
If you want to hit them with a hellfire, yes, you must lase the target.
Talon 6... 101st?
Is it really not possible to Ground stabilize the Apache targeting system?
Yep. Linear motion compensator
@@CasmoTV So no automatic ground stabilisation like in the black shark?
Wow, the new FLIR system is a huge pain and at this point I wished they just revert it to the old system. Not being able to lock up a bright white vehicle is ridiculous, this company does zero QA whatsoever. Dude.
Well now:
"What is DCS World Early Access?
Early Access is an option for you to play this module in an early state, but it will be incomplete with bugs."
If you use the AH-64 in DCS, you ARE the QA, and honestly, you should have been aware.
Hmm, you may want to research, how IR works in real life. Dude...
Does it look whit in the IR feed, or is it just painted white?
@@kilianortmann9979 It is the IR feed (FLIR shown on screen). So yes, the real system would see enough contrast to 'lock' that up as a trackable image. DCS doesn't do contrast tracking, it just pretends to by tracking what it knows are actual objects - it's done this since the early Black Shark days. Further to what you say, even if the target was just painted white and they were using DVO, again, as long as there's enough contrast, the system will try to track it, so it doesn't just work for the FLIR.
@@shagrat47 I don't think so buddy, just watch the video 2:53, Casmo tries to lock up a bright white target on dark terrain but it doesn't work. It could be a bug where the game thinks the vehicle is cold. It wouldn't happen if DCS was a bit more realistic, right now TGPs only track coordinates (area track) or objects (point track), not contrast.
