I quit rapping in 2013...gave up. but it ate at my soul that I wasn't making music, guilt and the whole 9. finally caved and came back last summer and been doing better then all the years b4 I quit...that's passion
I love that this doesn't just apply to music, although that's what my team focuses on. But whatever you do in life, just do it to your full potential.
This made me realize I fuck with it more than I consciously was aware of 😲
I have to apologize to my family for my absents (locked in bedroom) all the time. When i'm away from the studio I feel like i'm cheating myself like i'm loosing out. I'm 32 and just started making beats seriously a year and a half ago. Since then I've invested thousands into my craft. Equipment, books, E-books, theory courses, UA-cam videos you name it. Not to mention I've been a musician my whole life. Started playing the drums when I was 5 and played in rock bands all through high school. I had such a hard time getting musicinas to be as serious as me and as dedicated but it never worked out. That's why being a beat maker made so much sense.I also picked up guitar and bass guitar through the years and a bit of piano. Started using FL6 got some monitors and an interface back in the day to record and produce my band and that's how I first got into the world of DAW. Started learning engineering but got into beats a year and a half a go..The rest is history. Sorry for the Bio haha
I wanna thank you. sincerely thank you
Why must a hobby beging when you are in your teens or twenties? It can begin even at 60. I started learning music (guitar and singing) as a hobby without any music knowledge in 2016 at the age of 48. I have never looked back. It hsa become a burning passion and I even spend money to make progress. I am not planning to make a single dime on it, but I can assure you it is the best decision I ever made. Even when I become good I will avoid posting any covers or personal compsitions on the internet because nowadays people lose their jobs for crazy reasons. Just a response to someone's question, or the innocent theme of a song might be mis-interpreted by my employer and get me fired. That is the sad truth.
Every single day I can't ever get away. On it till the last breath or the first death whichever comes next. Till Death do us Part
Thanks Curtiss! Always helpful
Started at 12. I'm 17 now. It's a passion.
Amen Curtiss!
Real talk
I BELIVE YOU MAN BIG UP
WOw!!! Thank's!!!
I've been writing poetry since age 11 but stated rapping at 16 and recording at 18. This is a passion I've put 5 years on youtube made 30 songs in 6 months and invested a lot of time into this. Love music happy to collab this is a passion!
One of my favorite #Curtspiration s already..hands down.
Thanks man.
#Dope
Thanks for this man. this really relates to what I'm going through right now.
Not a teen or in early twenties, but I do have a passion for making music. great info. thanks.
LOL!! Me too. I was waiting to hear Curtiss say thirties & forties.
berzerk0912
Lol. No breaks for the older guys. Still is a passion to grow though.
J Sounz haha not true! But it was a younger gentleman who asked me this question
Understood bro. Your content is great. Please keep it up. Need more positive info such as yours in the music biz!
J Sounz Good stay with it good things will come your way
💯
I just started a study in programming and during all of this covid pandemic I found out about fl studio etc. and soon I started spending like multiple hours daily into this. Now I have a choice, to switch the study I am doing and follow a course in music production or keep programming and keep this as a hobby maybe. And I don't know what to do.
Curtiss! Thanks.
I've been making beats for 12 years, and just now I invested in a personal trainer deep in the Drum and Bass game to show me how things actually work... Best decision I ever made!! UA-cam tutorials can only take you so far, too much conflicting information leaving people with more questions than answers, I almost gave up because of it. Now all of the information I've come across in the past actually makes sense and I'm glad I found those you tube tutorials but I didn't really understand them until it was all properly explained to me by someone who is actually in the game.
Don't give up!! That's 12 years of making shitty sounding beats, now i'm finally having fun again just practicing for now.... :}
P.s. don't be afraid to ask a big producer if they offer online skype classes. It beats impersonal youtube tutorials any day :)
Thanks cause this situation really killed my joy and passion for my music and I would love to share that video on my social media to help independent artist from falling victim to this form of evil manipulation
can you talk about how upcoming rappers should go about buying beats and the paper work behind it
great vid
My most inspirashonalllllllll
Lol he said Tinder. Great video 👍.keep it coming.
happy valentine's day
Great video Brother. Ive been Boo'd(Production) up since '03
In that case I've been married and divorced a couple times to music. This time she got me for good though. Nothing else can satisfy my needs.
Great video. Maybe for the next one, could you explain the difference between PRO's and publishing and the purpose of publishing?? I'm rewatching your PRO video so I think I understand the difference and I kno we should try to find the answer ourself sometimes, but I value your knowledge a lot so I feel you'd give a definitive answer instead of me having to guess and imply
Curtiss. I've been watching for a minute now. Thanks for all the help. It's really been helping me as I launch my website. I was wondering if you could make a video on how to target rappers with Facebook and Instagram ads. I'm having issues finding the best way to limit my ads to just rappers and singers.
ItsJayTeeGee how are you going about your targeting?
well music is my passion ive been practicing for 3 years every single day starting from not knowing how to write a song from being able to write a good song after three years but there is still further to go
Good day Curtis, how are you man?..I've been trying to figure out how many tracks i should put on my EP or an Album, im not really sure about either and I would love your thoughts on the subject my good brother. Thank you and have a good day.
"MESSAGE!"
tell me how do u bounce back form having write block and found your self to write again? ???
GOD DAMMIT CURTISS!!.....You legendary specimen!! 😂😂 Seriously though, great vid 😉 I feel like I'm still in the very early stages, hence why I've spent SOME money but not a lot, I feel like testing the waters takes longer than I thought it would 😂😂 I feel like I really want it but don't wanna become that one old ass man with kids missing half my teeth like "This is my year!!" 😂😂 Music y u b lyk dis? 😦😂
I'm a producer, singer , and I rap sometimes. what advice do you have for the Artist/ Producer?
I guess it's a hobby but then again I am constantly thinking of lyrics/bars/poems on the daily and writing down most of them. It could possibly be ONE OF MY MANY PASSIONS. Sorry for caps.
Hey Curtiss, what are your views on the differences between producers and beat makers. I feel everyone i meet suggests selling beats but i have my heart set on being a ProduceNEUR. #Curtspiration. Thanks.
Aye Curt!!! Got a question. How can I get over fear and second guessing when it comes to creating music. Artist and producer wise?
PerfectPitch01 www.amazon.com/Making-Music-Strategies-Electronic-Producers-ebook/dp/B00WHXYZG8
PerfectPitch01 There are billions of people in the world. Your sound, your prospective will connect with people out there. Don't fear failure, fear not trying. Blessings
Restoring Heroes Project Man, I can't thank you enough for this comment. Much respect and blessings to you as well.
PerfectPitch01 . JUST DO IT!
PerfectPitch01 Man I'd just make more music! The more you make the more you grow as an artist, and as a person! The more songs you make the more confident you are and soon you won't second guess yourself at all you'll have a routine. And then all you can do is work hard and keep a good mind set. So how do you quit second guessing my friend? Make so much music you don't have time too :)
So is it okay if you start making music as a hobby and then it becomes a passion? I'm interested to know because I wanted to start making music this year, but I haven't started because I've been busy with college and my UA-cam channel, so if I begin to make music as a hobby is that a good place to start.
littleleafers of course! Having a passion doesn't necessarily mean you have to invest in it right away. Start slowly and see where it takes you! Good luck!
littleleafers Yes sir the hardest part is starting and being consistent. Hope college goes well and youtube remains fun hit me up with music when you've got a new song done!
What about over 5000 songs written , I think of shit everywhere without trying and write it down, I have to it’s just in my mind , it’s weird people reading my songs and listening say it’s hard to do what I do . I think like it’s easy . I’m like you can’t do that? Bc it’s so easy for me yk
Dude you are a geek and that will get you places. Nothing can stand in the way of a curious mind, someone who knows how to learn and grow. But if you previously accumulated base-ball skills, you should keep playing it at least once every two weeks. SPort iis good, especially base-ball that you already know.
Question: Any advice for young producers like me? I'm talking 14 years old young lol
Another great video Bro. Music is my passion, but I hate the mixing, and the business part of it. I guess I have no Patiences
Bazill Mcintosh nothing wrong with that bro! Not everyone is meant to do/loves everything you know? Keep doing you and reach out for the things you don't have the drive for. It'll save you time, frustration, and you'll end up with a better record/impact because of it. Keep grinding!
I have a question that needs answers lol. Basically how do I prepare to drop a mixtape, any steps,do's/don'ts,etc. Also this is going to be a project that's on streaming services
Markus Scott have you dropped your project?
Markus Scott Make sure you have a following so the project isint dropped on deaf ears. Make sure you've got enough people intrested to make the work worth it
Why do my beats sound so FLAT?
I got you!
Hey man I have a question when u first started could u flow n stay on beat I'm struggling with rhythm an flow I have been rapping about a year now
It was a struggle for me as well my Codey. It's part of the process! You just have to be patient with yourself and continue to your pursuit to grow!
Codey Horn Honestly just set up a play list on youtube of 5 beats and just freestyle. Rhythm should come naturally once you start and soon you'll be able to rap on anything! Practice makes perfect my friend!
Curtiss King TV I appreciate it brother 💯💯 thank u so much
DeadSeriousOfficial thanks me I appreciate the help
DeadSeriousOfficial hey Man U got some dope songs an thank u for not shooting me down or say anything smart I appreciate the feed back .. do u by any chance have a instagram? Mind is @codeyhorn
If it wasn't for you I would have stopped writing by now
how can you get people here your music. If your not in your 20 any more.
