This first of only two live recordings in the late, great Geri Allen's career was nominated for an NAACP Image Award in 2011 and features Allen's working trio (Kassa Overall, Kenny Washington) nimbly and ferociously interacting with each other and with the outstanding tap dancer/foot percussionist Maurice Chestnut. They reinvent the dialog between dance, jazz, piano, bass and drums. Timeline celebrates the dance and the music together as one exciting breathing entity. Be sure to check this group out on UA-cam. Tap percussionist Chestnut is a wonder as is Allen and her band.
