Great interview! I just got more into the classic pure networking side of things working as a network admin, mostly managing network devices specially switches and firewalls, I’ve found some small places for automation like building a Ansible Vm and use it to backup all the network devices configs, or adding a new user/change a password type of tasks, I would love to dig deeper into the automation side too since I think it has a lot of potential for the future! As always thanks for another great video David!
I got my CCNA and I am looking for what is my next step. I was thinking about CCNP enteriprise R/S. But automation also looks interesting. Currently I am working on my python skills, next goal is to learn REST. I hope on next video with Hank i'll understand more of what he is saying :D

Great interview! Enjoyed ever second of it. Also some good advice on how to approach being a Network engineer. Not related to the video, but would be nice if youd have a video on the type of questions you'd recommend for someone to ask a network engineer, in an informal interview. Thank you
Thank you once again for an awesome and informative video David. I'm in the process of learning Linux right now and also studying for my CCNA and before I watched this video I had no Idea which platform to start implementing automation. I was going to start with Ansible but It sounds like Python is the way to go because it just seems more scalable in the long run! Thank you again so much for your educational direction and I appreciate all that you do for us! Cheers!
Thank you both for this video. I absolutely enjoyed it. I am a linux person. But I am very excited to see some kind of ansible and/or python demo. Please. And thank you so much for your time as well.
I really really like u pleas sir make one video for Android phone.. How to run kali linux on Android phon Bcz i wached all videos in youtub but all pake.. Ur the best sir thank you
I think python is pretty satisfying, perhaps more so than just memorizing IOS syntax. I do wonder how much scripting will be relevant when the rat race to learn it increases. As it is now, certain network automation platforms are going to be present when you begin a position, so learning python, as nice as it is, could be irrelevant as the scripts already exist in the network automation platform of xyz job. What I’m getting the impression of, is that particularly for the US, is that Cisco TAC contracts relegate enterprise personnel to be generalists. This makes it pretty difficult to learn any singular skill (on the job), as the skill is essentially not progressively overloading each day - so that you can master it. So python is nice to learn but dont expect to get fancy with it unless you spend a fair bit of personal time to get good at it. My .02 cents
Hi dav, i need a answer to this, I have done ccna and just completed BEng - Computer Network, which path should i take. 1.-> CCNP core 2.Devnet associate -> DevNet professional 🤔🤔🤔 ia m 21 years old what you recommend sir, -Love from Asia-
And another thing: I turn on my new hp notebook yesterday 14 november. Setup windows 10 and ok. Goes to Desktop ok. I went to Settings-System- Windows specifications and says: date installed: 11-08-2021 ... and I installed it yesterday 14 November 2021. Could be 11-08-2021 is when HP put windows in the notebook? (11 august?) Or should I change notebook to the store?
Great video but he wished he would have dove in a little bit more on what is meant by learning data formatting and manipulation. Like how is that to be learned
I am currently software engineer but i want to learn more about networks/network hardware/servers/adminstration. The big problem that i have, how can i play around with networks/active directory if i am at home? I don't have a company like network or even hardware. I can't setup a server rack cause i have never done this and i can't buy one (too expensive). But on the other hand no company will take me as an administrator if i can't setup a server rack. So its like the chicken and egg problem. Any suggestions?
Quick question. Does this not just apply to ex-large enterprise networks as the majority of networks that require Network Engineers are medium to large Enterprise which dont require automation unless your lazy or looking to get rid of that team member that eats the wierdest food?
PLEASE HELP: I have a brand new HP Notebook. I turned it on and the message hp cmos checksum error 502 appeared. I know that when it was purchased they entered the Bios. Today after the message appeared, it led me to the installation of win10. And I did it ... but now I have a doubt (because I saw on the internet that the error could be from the board or the bios stack) ... What should I do? Should I return the Notebook to the store? Or will the problem have already been solved if windows 10 was installed? Today I turned it on and the error did not appear again
I love ansible. I HATE ansible version changes. You'd think they would TRY to keep some backwards compatibility with feature flags or something. No one wants to have to refactor their playbooks every time they upgrade
just become a software engg or turn to cloud stuff...why bother with CCNA and networking . Learn Git, Python, Data Structure and get one Cloud certificate and say bye bye to CCNA.
Python, REST API's, Data format manipulation, GIT, Ansible - Top skills to learn according Hank
Perfect timing I just started learning Python few weeks ago and intend to migrate from Network engineering to Devops ! Thanks for the great video
Thanks David. Your recent message shorts have been incredibly inspirational. One of them helped me get through a pretty rough day recently.
Thank you David for bring up these important things. Very rare to find quality material on future of networking and IT on UA-cam. Thanks again.
Fantastic interview on an important topic! I really need to work on my automation skills.
Great to see you here Jeremy! Thank you 😀

Great interview for me as I am studying DEVNET. Usefull and informative. Thanks
Great job, guys!
for home computer I have to add SSD or even NVME is more likely the key. (Now hire me @Hank :-)
One video clear all my doubts in depth about network automation...
Once again thanks to David sir
Very happy to hear that :)
I love it when you guys have these talks, Keep them coming... How about day in the life of an CI/CD pipe line using the NSO sand box.
Thanks @David for the awesome and real to the world information with all of us. We really appreciate your efforts.
Thank you David and Hank. Right on target for my goal of obtaining the DEVNET Associate Cert.

Hi Bombal, could you please bring back Hank Preston. An update on DevNet would be really good right now.
Thank you David and Hank for this vid! Always VERY interesting!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Both are my favourite David and Hank Preston 😍😍❤️
Thank you Wasim!
Thank you for the value sir David! Can you do a demonstration for Network Automation and Devnet Sandbox?
I would like to see some Dev Net Automation examples, like maybe some Meraki APIs or other APIs that automate Network Devices
That was such an amazing video. Two of my favourite IT IDOLS.
Thanks for all your efforts. Greetings Stephan
Glad you like the video! and Thank you, Stephan!
Very Valuable information. Thank you for this video.
Thank you Vyas!
Hank has a full size Voltron and Wheel of Time books in the background. Automatically listening to everything he says now cus he’s a real nerd!
Good stuff fellas! Everything you talked about I am interested in and trying to get into just talk again this was great!!!
Yet another awesome concept. Thanks.
Btw I've mailed you a question on the support mail. I'll be obliged to have a reply.
Can one focus solely on pyATS as an all-in-one automation solution?
Thanks, David, & Hank.

Srry for commenting late my mom was in hospital so I was there as I saw the notification I came to see . good content.
Your Mom is more important than watching a video. No need to apologize.
Excellent interview. That's really perfect. Always with excellent content!!!
Awesome Video. You both are terrific.
I always wondered if is necessary to have DEVNET skills if you're planning to go for the CCIE Enterprise lab
Thank you sir very informative video
Is Devnet and WFH feasible?
I think of automation and networking more of things like software based networking (ie NSX from VMware). It aligns more with how AWS does it.
However, VMware doesn't make education material on this topic.
David & Hank
You are amazing ❤️❤️
Thank you
