Superb video, one of the best so far. I interviewed Ali in 2013 about his testicular cancer for ITV. He was a gentleman and when I said I'd be calling a taxi to take me back to the train station, he insisted on driving me personally in his sports car and even helped me carry my camera equipment. We talked non-stop on the journey. Quality guy and love watching him play. Delighted that he won a tournament either side of this interview.
Thanks for this insight Natalie, I agree best video Stephen has put up. I haven’t met Ali like you but he comes across as a totally genuine honest guy and one of my favourite players. By the way I love your podcast and was a massive fan of The Bill back in the day. What guests are coming up shortly on your podcast ?
So much respect for Ali for talking so candidly about his health issues. Us men need to be more open about these things and share our experiences with one another, as too many are suffering in silence. Unfortunately our culture discourages men from talking about these sorts of issues, but that's thankfully changing. I myself am going through a very hard time right now with my health and living with chronic pain in my pelvis and lower back, and it's really helps me whenever I hear other men talk about their experiences, it encourages me and makes me feel braver to talk with others about what I'm going through. Ali has just done this here and I guarantee a lot of other guys feel the same way. Thanks mate!
Sorry to hear that mate. Hopefully you will get better over time, maybe look at lifestyle and dietary changes if it will help you. Make sure you see the proper experts as well. All the best for you in the future. John.

A very open and honest chat. I didnt know what the guy has overcome on a personal level, all while maintaining his status as one of the best snooker players in the world is commendable!
I have loved this channel since its inception but this episode has hit new heights. I am so glad Ali is given the chance to show his talents and overlooked character. What a player as well with all that he has faced and I still think he has a TC in him. I always eye when a draw opens up for him
I like Carter because he doesn’t give a toss about upsetting people, you need different personalities and friction in sport to keep things fresh. That shoulder barge between him and Ronnie at the Crucible will always be an iconic moment imo.
Ali is a lovely chap and a really good player to boot. Considering the health challenges he has faced it's even more impressive. Great to see The Captain in good spirits and doing well!!! 👍❤🛩
Have to say that was incredibly interesting and changed my opinion of Ali Carter entirely. He makes some good points, and what he's achieved, given his off-table problems, is incredible. Good luck to him.
This video has changed my perception on Ali for sure, I wasn’t aware of his struggles and challenges in life.. hard to dislike a warrior 💪🏼 he’s not a bad bloke after all
People have Ali so wrong. The reality is he’s a competitor and a fantastic player who likes to win. He’s also a gentleman off the table. Ronnie is the greatest of all time but he’s a prick.
True, I started to realize that when he forced a referee to WAIT to put the black ball back because he wanted to get to the cue ball first. Any other player would have been destroyed by acting like this.
Not entirely...........As Barry Hearn famously said: " There are two Ronnies, the Ronnie you like to hug and the Ronnie you like to kick.....I like the Ronnie you like to hug ".
It’s amazing to see Ali just talking and making a good break against Stephen one of the all time greats. Ali seems like a good lad and I never knew that he had been so ill. 👍👍

Great chat, even more respect for Ali after this. Totally understandable that he takes no shit from O'Sullivan or anybody, he's been through a lot, and his spirit has pulled him through that. Lesser players have won a world title IMO.
Funny how people are saying how much they "hate" someone when they literally don't know the person other than what they've seen on the TV. Stop using such a strong word to explain a slight disinterest in someone.

I have loved this channel since its inception but this episode has hit new heights. I am so glad Ali is given the chance to show his talents and overlooked character. What a player as well with all that he has faced and I still think he has a TC in him. I always eye when a draw opens up for him
Yes! Love the Captain!
You dislike Ronnie because he owns your bitch Ali 24-3 H2H, and 3-0 in finals LMFAOOOOOOOOO
marry him then
My opinion on Ali has changed after that. 1 of the best videos going up in the air and watching him do his stuff. Class!
Another great one!
Ali is tenacious and I always enjoy his game. He has got better and better over the years. Long may he continue 👌
I like Carter because he doesn’t give a toss about upsetting people, you need different personalities and friction in sport to keep things fresh. That shoulder barge between him and Ronnie at the Crucible will always be an iconic moment imo.
probably why him an ronnie clash so much, both similar attitude
@@ginjaedgy49 Ronnie is much more narcissistic
@@dilksjoel you don't know if he's narcissistic or not
@@itnaklipse1669 Ronnie a text book example
@@andrewjohnston2850 i disagree.
Ali is a lovely chap and a really good player to boot. Considering the health challenges he has faced it's even more impressive. Great to see The Captain in good spirits and doing well!!! 👍❤🛩
I saw him in York last year at the UK Championship. I was too shy to go and say hi.
You should have farted in his face.
Have to say that was incredibly interesting and changed my opinion of Ali Carter entirely. He makes some good points, and what he's achieved, given his off-table problems, is incredible. Good luck to him.
Best video yet. Except the one with Gareth Potts as I’m in the background lmfao
Big love to Ali, a true fighter, a battler, a good bloke an inspiration, and Stephen is a class act, both legends of the table 👍.
That was brilliant.
Any other player would have been destroyed by acting like this.
you are right. people will always side with ronnie because hes the best ever. but he is a nob and ali isnt scared
One of these 2 is prick, but it isn't Ronnie!
Not entirely...........As Barry Hearn famously said: " There are two Ronnies, the Ronnie you like to hug and the Ronnie you like to kick.....I like the Ronnie you like to hug ".
😂
It’s amazing to see Ali just talking and making a good break against Stephen one of the all time greats. Ali seems like a good lad and I never knew that he had been so ill. 👍👍
Huge Ronnie fan, but the hate Ali gets from Ronnie fans is unjustifiable. What he's been through and managed to come out the other side is commendable. Big respect Ali. 💪 Ronnie watch the video and bury the hatchet with Ali! 👌
@@967mviews2 the 2 things aren’t mutually exclusive. He’s come through cancer: yes. He’s a bellend: yes.
@@stitcha123 so why the hate and why is he a bellend in your opinion?
@@967mviews2 Cause he holds Ronnie's waistcoat tails
@@967mviews2 let me put it this way: his covid denial, Nigel farage loving, anti vaxxing, pro brexiteering, excuse making, woo-woo thinking, bitterness toward other players success (as evidenced in this video) and grudge bearing won’t warm him to many people.
@@967mviews2 also let’s try and refrain from the word ‘hate.’ Few will hate him. It’s as stupid as saying anyone who doesn’t hate him, loves him. It’s a childish, black and white way of thinking and arguing.
Brilliant Stephen, Brilliant Ali... great video, great interesting interview.
Your best episode LOVE Ali flying the helicopter! Love your passion for attacking snooker!
What propellers were you looking at lol
I have a couple of Wikipedia articles for you to compare...
Never disliked Ali, but have become a bigger fan of him after this. Another great video.
Steve Davis is from Abbey Wood, South East London, not Essex.
He use to play at the Plumstead working mans club in where I play snooker

@@d8456 No, moved away many years ago. Nice club though 😀
@@ReelFilm2016 arh that's a shame! Don't ever forget your roots mate 👌
To be honest, I've never been a follower of Carter, but really enjoyed this interview. He seems like a top bloke and a great player. Wish him all the best.
Great chat, even more respect for Ali after this. Totally understandable that he takes no shit from O'Sullivan or anybody, he's been through a lot, and his spirit has pulled him through that. Lesser players have won a world title IMO.
so many tragic Ronnie fanboys here 😂 Ali seems like a good guy
I've not seen that yet.
The best ep ever. Amazing! Love Ali’s way. What a guy. So glad he’s here to tell these stories ❤
Funny how people are saying how much they "hate" someone when they literally don't know the person other than what they've seen on the TV.
Stop using such a strong word to explain a slight disinterest in someone.
Nooo this is an age of hyperbole. Criticise something? ‘HATER.’
Carter has always been one of my favourites!!….he comes across in his game as very solid!!…
😂the face on the Cleaner 👙🧹🪒🚽🧻🪣
This should be the standard length on these videos. Lovely one, one of the best!
How many mad Ronnie fanboys in the comments are angry that Ali exists?
I am a Ronnie fan, but Ali’s existence doesn’t bother me. I would love to see him master himself and not let Ronnie‘s mind games bother him. I enjoy watching Ali play when he’s not playing Ronnie.
I guess they didn't care for the thumbnail, lol.
What a character we have here, apparently all Ronnie's fans are angry Ali Carter exists! Hilarious.
@@hotstepper887 Ali leads Hendry 9-4 H2H
@@FANNYJUDD So what, what has that got to do with a thing I've said? Ronnie is 23-3 matches, up on Ali?
Love watching Ali play his a great player, great interview.
Thanks Stephen from down-under.
The cleaner's attractive
I've always loved Ali and felt he's a great guy! This video solidified my opinion further. An amazing player and a great lad best of luck captain!
Fun Fact:
Ali leads Hendry 9-4 in finals 🏆👌
Because he didn't play him in the 90s
@@YlL-ji2slRonnie pumped hendry in his pomp in 5 finals in the 90s. Namely as a 17 year old @ the UKC finals 1993 & 1997 . In your feelings for Hendry too much. At least get your facts right before you comment 👍
@@Wah-mu4vn And what does Ronnie have to do with Ali? Are you drunk?
Nice episode! Respect, Ali, for going through your cancer treatment. It takes courage to get through all that. It sounds like it didn't progress to brain cancer, which is fantastic (I'm living with it myself), though I do understand the fears and the stamina it takes to live with the disease. That you've kept up with a pro snooker career while dealing with that earns you my respect. Well done.
Love the way ronnie plays but as a human being not so much always had a privileged life even tho very strange being brought up in a house of a murderer and female porn baron .
Very good point.
What a wonderful video ,really enjoyed Ali and Stephen ,it’s great finding out their back ground, what they are going through ,and when you do watch the playing snooker on the TV ,you know them that much more .I’m sure you will agree with me ,that we thought Ali had a bad attitude,it’s the bad press ,but now we all think different ,Keep up these great moments Stephen !!
