Great video Thank you!! My Jotul fireplace insert blower motor kept shutting off last night. I've only done a lite vacuum cleaning on it until now due to being afraid to take it apart. After you're video showing me how easy it was and how to clean it properly I was amazed how bad it had gotten over the last 13-years. It was 5-degrees outside this morning so I will do it again this spring, I'm sure it will be fine now without all the clog!
at 7;28 the 2 holes are visible on topmost of motor left and right i know its a year old but many still look this stuff up they all quit after awhile 300$ to replace when a few cents of oil save the day and a good blow
Thanks for the video! I believe that I have the same model (acquired it when we purchased our house). Is there anything specific to unscrew / unbolt other than the wiring? I can't get it to break free and dont want to force it and inadvertently damage something. The blower framework is rusty, so it could just be seized. Any tips / tricks for removing the blower from the insert would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
@georgeosborne2431 there are clips on the bottom plate of the housing unit that clip onto the frame of the stove. Sometimes they stick. It takes a pretty good tug
I have a buck stove insert model 85 Serael number 000028. Have you ever worked on one of these. I have had mine for 22 years. I burn it every winter I burn it 24/7 and I have never cleaned or changed the blower motor. Just wondering how hard it would be to take it out and clean it the blower motor the way you cleaned yours and oil it. Thanks you much for your input. I’m in southern West Virginia. Cold winters.
It's more involved than my Jotul but it can be done. You will have to remove the 3 screws on the right side cover panel. Then remove the 2 screws from the middle cover door holder. Remove 1 screw that holds the right air intake cup to bracket located under right side of hearth. 2 screws on left side of motor screen guard. Finally 1 screw on bottom right side of motor screen. If I were you I would use an air compressor and blow air back there to clean any debris. Might want to use a sheet to keep dust from flying in the house
No fuse that I ever saw. Does it come on sporadically or not at all? Can you hear the motor trying to run but fan isn't moving? Could be a bad heat sensor (if it has one) or gummed up fan or the motor has just died. I replaced one motor so far on this unit, about 4-5 years ago. It died after about 8 years.
noticed your motor has two actual oil orifices that lead directly to the bearings they are next to the clips the only two holes on the motor itself
Well holy crap, how did I miss those. Thank you
