Rest in peace Mark. Thank you for all the emotions you gifted to this world and for all the times I've got goosebumps listening to your voice. 'all the while you've been sleeping drifting on a wind never blown'
I knew with a little digging I'd find it. This version of No One Knows is from a radio station in-studio performance the Trees did in Stockholm in 1993. You're looking for the Studio 4 Radiohuset performance from February 8 1993. The Time For Light website has it.
I was too young to know the trees at the time, sadly. I got in to Lanegan about 12 years ago and was fortunate enough to see him on several occasions, several of which were with my mum and dad which in itself, is a beautiful thing. His voice touches parts of my soul that nothing else ever has. I’m still so gutted by his death and the fact I’ll never get to hear him live again. What a beautiful human.❤️
I lost my only chance to see these guys live, in Fort Laud 25 years ago, cancelled tour date... I still feel that is the biggest lost concert of my life .. and I truly miss them
These guys were so under-rated, it's a true shame and loss that they were not more appreciated. We will never hear Marks voice again... or see them all together jamming, Gary and Van running around the stage, putting out those killer riffs... living the grunge life, what a time in music history... Sweet Oblivion... MarkL...
OH MAN! I've heard this version before but long, long ago! So UNBELIEVABLY GOOD! His voice is just AMAZING! He was at the heighth of his TALENT! I partied w/these dudes way back then and they were just normal people, real nice guys!
@mimonic2 One of my Favorites, he's aged like wine too. I love to go back and hear him young though, such passion. They were the band that helped forego the whole Seattle thing and were not even givin much radio play. It's them, A.I.C., and Soundgarden who did it. I always leave pre Pearl Jam M.L.B. Andrew Wood was amazing as well.
What thought it would sound like if I ever heard it, incredible..Extremely heavy lyrics, hard to believe MarkL wrote this at the young age he was back then... must have lived it somehow.thanks for posting...
Don't turn away, you haven't yet awakened Why don't you stay, remember what you said Ten thousand miles and everyone's mistaken Look where you've been Where every woman's wasted All the while you've been sleeping Drifting on a wind never blown Tomorrow you'll wake up aching Wondering how, when no one really knows Don't speak a word of all that you've been saving If there isn't time then you should let it go Into the fire and bring back all you've taken Once more alone you'll never let it show All the while you've been sleeping Drifting on a wind never blown Tomorrow you'll wake up aching Wondering how, when no one really knows Now what have I done wrong Can't you tell me what have I done wrong Baby tell me what have I done wrong Don't walk away, you haven't yet awakened Why don't you stay, remember what you said Ten thousand miles, and everyone's mistaken Look where you've been Where every woman's wasted All the while you've been sleeping Drifting on a wind never blown Tomorrow you'll wake up aching Wondering how, when no one really knows Now what have I done wrong Can't you tell me what have I done wrong Baby tell me what have I done wrong Tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me now
Layne, Mark, I miss those days when. shit, doesn't get no better than this song or river of deceit. period. both bring tears these days. this song should have been played over and over in this piece of shit state called maryland on 98 rock in 1993. in 1995 we had river of deceit. in 2013 we have no one.
Definitely two guitars going. The jangly one in the right channel does the same three simple chords throughout the song so I assume (if this was done live) that it's either Mark or Barrett playing. The one in the left channel must be Gary Lee- it plays along with the chords during the verse and then does the chorus riff and solos while the other one carries on with the chords.
@@ashteif6778 it's very simple. The chords are a variations of F, C, G. Same chords the whole song. For the F you fret the high E, B and D strings on the 3rd fret. And the G string on the 2nd fret. For the C chord keep your fingers in same place on the e and b string. Fret the A string on 2nd fret and D string on 3rd fret. For the G keep your fingers in same place on E and B strings. Fret the A string on 2nd fret and E string on 3rd fret. Abscially its the shame chord shape for all three you just shift your top 2 fingers up one string for each new chord.
The Saplings cd is a bootleg comprised mostly of tracks off of cd singles. This version of "No One Knows" doesn't seem to be on it. I don't myself know where it might have come from.
I dont know with absolute certainty but Im pretty sure theres more than one guitar player on this version. I dont see how Van could be doing solos and the rhythm guitar simultaneously, Im not saying its not possible because several players were able to play multiple parts at once, most notably Jimi Hendrix who was said to be able to play 3 parts at once. As a guitarist myself the stutter and timing of the solo over the rhythm does not sound likely or typical. Just my opinion though.is there vid?
Thanks so much for adding this. Sometimes I forget, when listening on my junky car stereo, how great of a voice Mark has. I need to get some more whiskey, rasp, smokeyness in my voice. My Attempt: ua-cam.com/video/gkIX8pjXpeg/v-deo.html

Mark Lanegan - "Visited planet Earth between 1964 and 2022... Took us on a voyage and back" Thank you 🎻
This is the greatest thing I've ever heard.
What a voice. I always come back to this version to set me straight.
Rest in Peace Mark and Van. Thank you for inspiring us, all. We love you and will never forget the gifts you gave the world.

Thank you Heffalump!
Thankyou
RIP Mark, you were one-of-a-kind. Not many voices tear me out of the body and take me someplace else. Yours sure did. Thank you.

This song always reminded me of my sister I lost....I'm in tears right now. This is so good
I’m sorry about your sister.
Somehow the algorithm put this in my playlist. Driving home from work with tears streaming down my face. Thank you.
One of my personal all-time favorite tracks, this version is beyond words. Thanks so very, very much for uploading.
RIP Mark Lanegan. Great singer and songwriter.

They were huge in the 90's along side of his good friend layne
Love this song and the Trees! Music is the most powerful and natural drug!!!

Thanks SO much for this! One of my favourite songs and this is a killer version.
What. A. Tune.
Don't turn away, you haven't yet awakened
Why don't you stay, remember what you said
Ten thousand miles and everyone's mistaken
Look where you've been
Where every woman's wasted
All the while you've been sleeping
Drifting on a wind never blown
Tomorrow you'll wake up aching
Wondering how, when no one really knows
Don't speak a word of all that you've been saving
If there isn't time then you should let it go
Into the fire and bring back all you've taken
Once more alone you'll never let it show
All the while you've been sleeping
Drifting on a wind never blown
Tomorrow you'll wake up aching
Wondering how, when no one really knows
Now what have I done wrong
Can't you tell me what have I done wrong
Baby tell me what have I done wrong
Don't walk away, you haven't yet awakened
Why don't you stay, remember what you said
Ten thousand miles, and everyone's mistaken
Look where you've been
Where every woman's wasted
All the while you've been sleeping
Drifting on a wind never blown
Tomorrow you'll wake up aching
Wondering how, when no one really knows
Now what have I done wrong
Can't you tell me what have I done wrong
Baby tell me what have I done wrong
Tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me now
Great voice
Incredible.

Can you ID the chords? Id love to try and play but I'm not so sure what they are.

Beautiful song. But it is based on the Who's "Naked Eye". Check it out....
@mimonic2 damn you're right...
Where did you get this cd? Amazon doesn't have it, and the Trees' website does not have it under their discography.
is it possible to find this album? has anyone heard?
For some unexplainable reason, Mark Lanegen and the Connor brothers paths crossed and destiny was born. Sadly now never to be recreated. RIP
Hi just wondering if you could put morning dew on here for secret headphones joy
Give me time to dig around...I’ll try to upload it
