    Wow! Fantastic video! Thank-you very much for this! I have been studying this beautiful art form, but it is very good to go back to basics with this very clear and complete presentation. Thank-you!

    YOU'RE AN AWESOME TEACHER - not just knowing the skill, but explaining it in such a way, a basic music student can understand. ABSOLUTELY stunned by your skill set. Blessings!

    What is the difference between TA KA DI MI and THA DHI THOM NAM?
    Is the first group of western syllables and the second of south Indian syllables?

    • @KonnakkolSomashekarJois
      @KonnakkolSomashekarJois  4 роки тому +1

      ThaKaDhiMi & ThaDhiThomNam syllables belong to Konnakkol Vocabulary (South Indian Classical Rhythmic Language). The difference is in its recitation as well as playing it on any carnatic percussion..

    Why do we end the cycle with 1st beat of next cycle?

    • @h.u7197
      @h.u7197 4 роки тому +2

      It's just like how we consider that the hand of the clock completes one cycle after reaching '12', and not when it's in 11:59:59.........

    Why at 3rd speed in your demonstration you use TA KA DI MI first but then you use TA DI TUM NAM?

    • @KonnakkolSomashekarJois
      @KonnakkolSomashekarJois  4 роки тому +2

      Hi Enrico, I have used 'ThaKaDhiMi' 4 Letter Solkattu just as an example to showcase 3rd Speed.. And 'ThaDhiThomNam' is the 1st Lesson in this rhythmic tradition..

    • @EnricoDellAquila
      @EnricoDellAquila 4 роки тому +1

      @@KonnakkolSomashekarJois so neither one is wrong?
      I'm used to 'ThaKaDhiMi', much less to 'ThaDhiThomNam'... is there a difference? Or is it just a matter of differentiating the 4 sounds?
      I suppose that following the other lessons things will become more clear... but I wanted to ask anyway :)

      @@EnricoDellAquila hey enrico, it’s been 2 years, did you get your answer? I had the same question, I wasn’t able to find the answer anywhere. TIA!

    • @KonnakkolSomashekarJois
      @KonnakkolSomashekarJois  2 роки тому +1

      @@EnricoDellAquila ThaKaDhiMi & ThaDhiThomNam are same in length but different in terms of Sol / Solkattu.. In traditional rhythmic approach, Tha-Dhi-Thom-Nam is always the 1st lesson.. There are historical references to validate the same..
