    Ron, your page deserves more exposure than it's been getting. Startt pumping out some edited versions into shorts. Get your name a better place in the algorithm. One it deserves. Nothing but love for the content!

    Great follow up to the previous video on adjusting the new shifter. Very similar adjustments, but nice to see that it can be done even with the more worn parts. Also great details about why to use the specific shift linkage pins. Crawling under my 3 speed Camaro this weekend to see what I have going on. Hopefully, wont find washers and twisted bits of welding wire holding things together! I will also test your concern of getting to things with the transmission installed. Thanks again.

    I see you are pretty much #1 video wise for these old 3 speed trans, I'm new to them but am putting a Muncie SM330HD with a Hurst Indy shifter into a 1979 c10 SWB 2wd and need help getting it all to work, I need clutch operation on the cheap, factory pedal is expensive and sucks as far as I know.. saw speedway sells a wildwood pedal and 7/8" bore master and a hydraulic throughout bearing for these trans but I havnt seem any info on it

      Roadkill or maybe it was Faster with Finnigan did a good video on the install on one of these for his 57 Chevy build Blasphemy, check it out. Seems decent!

    Thanks for the video. I recently got a 72 F100 Ranger XLT and it’s got a Mr. Gasket brand shifter I believe it’s just like your other video where you put the new shifter on the transmission. That saved me some time trying to figure out what’s going on. I looked at it for a few minutes the other day and noticed it doesn’t have the stops. I believe my shifter has had a rough life… lmao but I’m gonna try to get it fixed later this evening or tomorrow.

      I’m glad somebody found it useful. Once I figured it out I thought it was worth sharing for the guy looking at it upside down in the dark lol. Good luck with the repair

      @@shortcutgarage Yes exactly, I’m not a dummy but you know how it is when your laying on your back under a vehicle…😄 I’m kinda thinking the 2 throw levers on the bottom side of the shifter itself may be bent, like separated. It seems like it moves left and right to far. Like it will have a big gap between the other side lever when you’re engaged in one side or the other. Maybe like a 1/4 inch gap. I’m kinda thinking I might have to take it completely off and see what’s going on. Like I said I’m sure it’s been abused and it didn’t have the stops in there either. So I’ll have to replace those myself. Maybe one day I’ll have a roller 302 or 351 in that truck with a nice 6 speed manual transmission but heck I want to drive it now…😄 It must be missing one of the braces that attaches it to the transmission too because it’s kinda sloppy and floppy…😂 But anyway that was very helpful, thanks again!

    I'm using this and your 3 on the tree video to adapt a floor shifter for a Dodge Duster that came originally with a column shifter. It has been very informative. I've got just a question, what stops multiple gears from activating at once? Is it even possible that two gears are on at once?
    Thanks for the videos!

    • @shortcutgarage
      @shortcutgarage  3 місяці тому

      Can’t do two at once, all you’ll do is jam up, usually in neutral. Take your time and dial it in like a brand new transmission, it’s not hard but it’s sooooo worthwhile! Good Luck with your project!

    Should the rods both be in the same position holes on the shift shaft arms? Doesn't it change the length of the throw between the r-1 and the 2-3 when they are in opposite holes? And also just wondering where the best place to find these shifters. Been looking for a while now

    • @shortcutgarage
      @shortcutgarage  Рік тому

      Ever so slightly yes, you’re correct, they should be in the same holes, won’t hurt anything but yes the throw would be ever so slightly off. As far as where to find them, put out a wanted ad on marketplace, Kijiji, Craigslist etc. they are still out there

    Where do you get those mounts that connect to the shifting rods that connect to the transmission bolts? I can’t find them anywhere

      I may have some kicking around the garage. I’m home next Wednesday, remind me and I’ll have a look. If I have them, you can have them, just cover the postage

      @lorikrayer9313 6 місяців тому +1

      Ok that be great! I’m going to replicate this and get this 3 speed shifting nice. I figured I could just replace them with the mounts that are on there now right? Thank you very much

      Btw do you put new bushings in these or do they not need them? I don’t see any in mine at the moment. I put those new clips on the part closer to the stick shift but tough to get to ones connected to the tranny

      @@lorikrayer9313 I think Hurst makes them, I bought some for a Hurst shifter off eBay and they worked good on it

      I’ve been working on my shifter and and noticed that the rods were different. My 2nd and 3rd is the long rod and my reverse and first is the shorter rod. Is this why I can’t figure out how to get it less sloppy?

    Is it possible to install the shifter without removing the transmission? I have a 71 c10 if that helps

      Done. Only done this way so people can see it and understand it easier

      I'm currently battling with installing a virtually new one I found on marketplace. it's no fun doing it laying on your back under the truck, but it'll be worth it in the end.
      Thanks for this video as I'm at the point of adjusting the rods now.
      P.S., I'm no mechanic by any means, so if i can do it, anyone can.
