Possibly the most underrated metal band of all time! Every album sounds totally different. Very talented musicians and very intelligent song writing. Deep! Peter Steele died WAY too soon. RIP
I wouldn’t say they are that underrated, first band ever to have a platinum record for roadrunner records. Most people who are familiar with TON hold them in extremely high regard, they deserved to be more famous than they were because they were awesome but I don’t really think they were underrated, just deserved more attention than they got but still they had a very respectable career popularity wise for a metal band, better than most.
Type o negative is literally one of the bands that has helped me out of a horrible horrible heroin addiction, this band holds a special place for me and my wife, love the channel guys!
The brilliance in this song, or what makes it a masterpiece is how a person that “don’t feel anything” screams like that. These details are everywhere on their songs. Favorite band ever……Miss them terribly….
The best vocally, genius songwriter, Josh silver with his keyboards and effects, and again Peter still the best songwriter I've ever heard. The only one that writes the songs died, and there's no such thing as keeping the band together without Peter Steele and the guys knew that. There's no way no one in the planet that could replace or come close to Peter Steele and those vocals. Those haunting vocals that has the deepest of range all the way up to the highest. He is sorely sorely missed. Specially since we were the same age, makes you think about life practically all of his songs since they were written mostly about his life and experiences you can actually feel the emotion and the only one that can write songs that are somewhat dark... That could somehow for some reason make you feel good. R. I. P. My man Peter Steel
Some of their song lyrics can be really dark and macabre, but they can also be cathartic. Type O Negative got me through some of the worst moments in my life. Peter Steele was a bass/baritone who could also reach tenor. Sometimes the tenor is Kenny's voice though. If you're ever interested in learning more about both Peter and the band, the book "Soul On Fire" is ... an interesting read.
@Aesthetic I ... wait ... you do realize that saying "he was a bass/baritone" means that he could apply the full range of bass and baritone and that's what we most often hear, right? The man had a range that could reach a handful of octaves from the bass we all know and love up to tenor 2 I think. Somebody seriously just tried to "well actually" me by going off on a tangent about a term that doesn't even exist. Wow, I've officially had enough of the internet for tonight.
I'm so happy to hear that you really love them. I've been digging them since forever. And thank you for remembering the 14th. That is going to be awesome, can't wait to see what you have in store.
Seen these guys 3 times, it's so sad to know we will hear no new type o negative, but there is a band named A Pale Horse Named Death, it has 2 former members of type o negative, it has a similar vibe. This band has pulled me through some rough times, thanks for the reaction.
Had to pause to comment..... watching Kel watching you indulge yourself in the Bliss of Type O is fucking CLASSIC..... so many have no idea what they are missing. You are musically informing the masses. Hail ! Skal !
Wikipedia says he’s a bass-baritone. However it’s classified I love his voice. Maybe you can schedule another #TypeONegative reaction for April 14, since that’s the anniversary of his death.
First time I've found your channel, type o negative is my favorite band of all time and I seriously appreciate how you REALLY started getting into the music when you closed your eyes and pressed the headphones on your ears, it's exactly what I do and I just get so unbelievably absorbed in the soul of the music. Fantastic stuff, glad you enjoyed this phenomenal song💚💚💚
I truly think Pete would have loved this. Your love for each other and your passion for music is wicked obvious. He seemed like a dude who legitimately appreciated two souls coming together for one experience
Saw Type O in Baton Rouge in 2003. They were absolutely amazing! One thing that sticks out in my mind about that performance was that Peter Steele looked like a giant on stage. Wikipedia says his height was 6'8". Another great band "Lacuna Coil" opened for them, so it was an awesome night to say the least. RIP Peter....another great performer gone too soon. \m/
I got to meet them back in 1996-97? They did a signing at a record store. Pete was a giant, but such an awesome guy. He had accidentally ripped a poster when they were passing it down so he signed it and a new one for the person. Great man great band
Saw them in LA in 2000 and 2003...first show better (Pete looked so much healthier in 2000), second show was all over the place, but still great. Pete's between song rantings are/were worth the price of admission alone....
Glad I got to see them many times and meet them (Boston/Providence). I have Tons autograph on ticket stub and bass Pick which he personally signed in front of me.
I would disagree. Dont get me wrong, I LOVE wolf moon. But there are several from this, my favorite band, that I love way more, and that in my opinion have better songwriting, lyrics, musicianship and are way more original sounding.
Oh, also, the intention of my reply is reacting to the term "their masterpiece, which I took to mean the definitive Type O song, which i strongly disagree with.
@@williamtadairify I agree. I think most would consider THIS to be their masterpiece, and I find it hard to disagree. Wolf Moon is awesome (I think October Rust is sadly overlooked and underrated), but I can't put it up there with their top 5, most likely - perhaps even top 10.
@@andrewhart9310 I also think that World Coming Down is a very underappreciated album. The title track alone is epic, and full of what you know came straight from Peter's heart. Plus it had All Hallow's Eve and Green Light, which are must- listens on my favorite day, Halloween. Who Will Save The Sane... so many good songs. But then again, I've never heard a Type O Negative song I didn't like, even the songs off of SDAH.
@@williamtadairify WCD is phenomenal! If anything, I felt some people overrated it coming on the heals of October Rust, but the combo of Everyone I Love is Dead and Everything Dies, by themselves, is good enough to mark it as an all time great album by them. WCD is amazing, CGL is solid, and the rest of the songs are at the very least quite good.
I love the fact you both are reacting to Type O Negative songs. I'm a huge fan of Type O and now your channel. Please keep them coming. RIP Peter, really miss you man and all the albums that will never be.
There aren't many things more important and anxiety fueling than showing your loved one something you put your heart to. Nice of you to let us in on that. You are very cute together.

If you feeling bad about something, his songs hit it right on the head and will make you feel better for some reason. But it never fails.
