    "I didn't have good ideas for those," when talking about the specials. This is part of why we're here. Authenticity still counts. It still takes courage (of a sort) to say something like that. Far better to be able to admit to not having a reason to do something than to do it anyway and contribute to the big bowl of suck that is 87.7% of UA-cam. Follow your gut, thanks for a great 2023!

      Appreciate that, honestly.
      Because that's really it, and sort of what I mean in the end.
      I won't put something out if I don't have a good idea for it, so I need to get better about finding the right ideas when I have good chances

    I've been enjoying these Jorb introspective Videos. I don't particularly appreciate that I Missed or don't recall seeing the Gameboy vid. (stupid YT Algo.) but I'mI will find and watch it! also really love and want to know more about that MIDI Hub device. I really would love something to be made to polychain any synth with another. which I'm sure is already out there I just haven't found my way to it, yet. Now I am rambling... Thanks for the great Jorbian Perspective. Love it. hope we all have an amazing year this one around.

    Ohh I can't wait to see your JX-8P vid. I've had mine for a little over a year now and gone from infatuation, to frustration, to just loving it. Having working aftertouch was huge in opening up the depth of expression and sounds, and finally splurging on a controller for it (thanks retroaktiv!) was absolutely worth it. I don't think I'll ever let it go.

    • @alphanumeric1529
      @alphanumeric1529 4 місяці тому

      Bought a Behringer BCR2000, I think it is, some time ago, to be a dedicated controller for an alpha juno... never could hack it together, just at the theoretical level. Should buy an off the shelf alpha juno implementation for the BCR2000... how stoopid and poor am I? 2024, before the bombs fly, I'm getting that implementation... if it is still available for sale!
      Love the sound of the Alpha Juno, I just hate programming it, even though it is not so bad once you're dialed up on the system, I just desperately want to intimately control the Juno fast, without going in giant, revisionary circles!

    • @niceheartwhitesuit
      @niceheartwhitesuit 4 місяці тому

      Midi implementation for the Alpha Juno's is notoriously bad, especially considering it being their last analog poly along with the super-jx (which has similar issues). Because of this a lot of generic CC/sysex controllers just can't integrate. Retroaktiv does make the MPG-50 that gives some great extra bells and whistles too, but it is $$$ :-( @@alphanumeric1529

    I really wanted to like the Take 5, but something about the oscillators and/or filter kept me feeling frustrated. There were also several minor things that I found frustrating, like how the filter key tracking was buried in the menu, but it was ultimately the core sound that made me sell it and buy a hydrasynth, which I much more enjoyable to play and program. But I still agree with your sentiment that the Take 5 would be great for playing live with a band.

    18:53 Actual real life Joker moment. Somebody needs to check in on Jorb, like, IRL, maybe throw that dog a bone of a JOB, not a Jorb, and like touch him a little, like that healing human touch. Maybe help him get his meds now that the social welfare program has been cut, and such. Maybe get his momz some medz while you're at it. Turn on all the lights that have bulbs, at least.
    2024 is going to be a new type of year for us Jorb. Let's call it a come to Jesus year, like time to actually figure out what is truly important in your life, and focus on attempting to preserve that thing from defilement or if you're lucky, just destruction.
    Maybe no more time for decadence, for farphenoodling through the minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, decades, lives vaguely pursuing various interests?
    You're young enough and bright enough to man a remote missile launch vehicle, yes? Perhaps repair wayward side looking radar arrays? Or, perhaps the sifter will be set to course and you'll merely be a man behind a trigger in some bog, some dune, some rocky height, some dim, soaked jungle patch, some vaguely non-american neighborhood? Exciting times.
    "Hello, my name is Jorb, and I don't have a right hand!" You choke out with an untrustworthy half smile struggling, but failing to hold its position on your face, as a door faintly closes in the background, and you fall out of frame, breathless, the string of your soul drawn tight as cat gut, and slowly bowed out of tune with itself, and stabbed at with a too dull knife, the pizzicato seconds pace through irregular time. With the fist of air still clenched in your lungs we hear you scream whimper the indiscernible phrase, "There is no hope." Over and over until the last milligram of air passes from your lungs, the folds of your vocal chords stick in place, unmoving. A disturbing amount of time escapes existence as the phantom threat passes, your heart still pounding in your temples like artillery landing further and further away, the top of your patchy scalp reenters the frame, the plastic glossy skin of your scar map catches the light and glints through the regrowing patches of remaining hair.
    Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to try and make a new Jorb video? Why did you listen to her? H'adamah was cursed for listening to the voice of his wife...
    All the best in this, new year.
