Key points:
- insert a shoe tree if possible (helps to fix the shape)
- use a bigger soft bristle brush
- any liquid soap mix with water if fine
- may need to use hard bristle brush for soles

I use boiling water on the soles with carpet cleaner.
Soak the shoe laces in white or washing powder over night then wash in the machine.
I use the kwik whitener on the fabric or stitches around the shoe and scuffed areas.
Use non scratch pads
