and hdds became good drummers
@d_avery You win all
Heck yeah
Drumming on a HDD
😆🎉
Oh Oh, It's halfway there!
Oooh Oh, We're loading up a prayer!
Bryce McKenzie clever!
I read this why watching the video and this exact line played while I read this

*Sector.
whoa !
"So, you make music with a computer. You're a DJ ?
-Well..."
Ohhh the irony, what has been done here takes skill, unfortunately most music post 90 s takes mostly computing power
@@gowdsake7103 it's easy to make EDM music, it's difficult to make good EDM music. The composing aspect of it is often even more complex than many songs of the previous century. It's just that the producers themselves don't have to play an instrument themselves.
The Floppotron *is* an instrument.
@@vinno97 That is exactly my point production of music is NOT music. The fact that is complicated is really unimportant, what most producers have done is destroyed the intimacy, joy and soul of music.
I do enjoy the floppytron for its sheer fun most produced music is lifeless perfect and dull !
Technically, with the exception of the two scanners, "disk jockey" does describe managing the Floppotron pretty well.
Simeon: _"What instruments can you play?"_
Dude: _"Well, it’s kinda floppy"_
Not in front of the kids!
I think this time it didn't went as good as I have expected. Maybe because the guitar in intro didn't get reproduces as good as in the original song (Talk Box guitar effect). At least it gets better on chorus ;-). What do you think?
Really? I thought this was dead on. Though the chorus is the strongest part the rest is still really good.
It was fine, how long does this take to make?
Awesome !!!!!
It was great Pawel!
lol, you're crazy. That was F****n AWESOME!! 🍻
For years I've watched these videos and have asked myself the same question: exactly what is it that makes the high pitched noise in that scanner thing?
The stepper motor
EDIT: You basically drive the motor at different frequencies and you hear its vibrations-> Change the drive frequency and you change the tune.
The motor, the channel owner has quite an extensive blog, worth the read
3D printers with cheaper driver chips suffer from the same noise. The harsh current spikes caused by switching currents on and off fast cause the armature and case to jerk/flex. You switch the motor at a the desired frequency and those pulses become a tone. Fancy drivers will ease in the motor current, keeping it from experiencing the sudden jerk and making them scary quiet.
Which is why you can play music on some 3D printers or even some CNC mills. It's pretty neat to see in person.
@@AAPaonessa dude someone get him a CNC mill stat!
My suggestion is "Sultans of swing" by Dire Straits
OH GOD YES
YES
Hell yeah
Yeess
PLEASE
This might be the best song I've heard the floppotron do.
please tell me that i wasn't the only one screaming against my PC "WHOOO OHH LIVING ON A PRAYER"
I screamed "we'll give it a shot" pretty much every time
wHoOoA, bOOTING ON A SEEEECTOR
Screaming to the phone, good sir.
I've never realised how much coding goes into one of these and you are a bloody patient genius for all of the songs that you have done
Super buttload of access calls to do this.
Please do "Scatman (Ski-ba-bop-ba-dop-bop)" by Scatman John on FLOPPOTRON!!!
He actually did that: ua-cam.com/video/dQw4w9WgXcQ/v-deo.html
@@ArthAttack I can't believe that it's almost 2020 and i still fell for that
OMG YES
Apenas um cara normal He made that indeed. It was an unlisted video.
@@ArthAttack lol didn't get me this time I've been rick rolled so many times that I made it a point to memorise the link
This is like the greatest 80’s tribute I’ve ever seen!
Not attempting bring attention or anything, but damn this hit straight through me. Brought me to tears as that's what I'm doin right now.
Music, friend... mankind's best invention. ^_^
When SSDs and other new tech takes your job you still need to do something.
SSDs make a very faint buzzing sound. I’m sure running a few hundred more watts pf power outta make it louder haha
"[Woah-oh!] Were half way there!"
"[Woah-oh!] Squidward on a chair!"
I like the zoom-ins on "we'll give it a shot".
Man, even the key change on the final chorus is spot on! 👏👏👏
These will never get old!
This Jon Bon Jovi is square-headed but he still rocks.
I've never fully understood the meaning behind the lyrics until now! Touching.
And as always great work!
when you opens a 2023 game on 90's hardware
I think you mean "lemon and a pear"?
You sure it isn't "Lenin on a bear"?
Squidward on a chair!
The fresh prince of Bel Air!
kitten on a stair!!
@@Retrotude nah, it's clearly Lincoln on a bear
Genius, unique, inspired ... what more can you say!
Thinking rationally, the couple in the song really are doomed, aren’t they.
Song still rocks, though.
But Tommy and Gina never back down!
I never paid attention to the lyrics before, now I'm sad. On another note, man, New Jersey must've been (and likely still is) quite the shithole given its musicians tend to largely sing either about the problems with unemployement or running the hell away.
@@GdotWdot New Jersey is a shithole, especially the urban areas. Don't stop in any city in NJ unless you want to come back to your car on cinderblocks.
If you stay overnight, someone will steal the cinderblocks.
Plus you can’t even pump your own fuel.... :/
Gobblarr Divorce is down from its peak in the ‘70s/‘80s, but I agree. People now don’t look at it like older generations. My parents and grandparents went through some seriously hard times and stayed together. The Depression, WWII, Vietnam, etc. My marriage is a piece of cake compared to that.
This was awsome. The beats kept by the read arms of the HDD, and the clicks of the floppy drives sound like drums, and the scanner singing is incredible. It sound exactly like the original song, but only played through a VERY tinny speaker.
99 luftballons plz
Yeah,I want Nena too.
!! YES !!
The german version! 😉🤣
@@OlaJustin Exactly and add Irgendwie Irgendwo Irgendwann :)
This
My two year old dances all over the house to your vids, my dude.
He loves it.
Keep up the good work.
The fact that you took the effort and time to this diserves a like.
Most underrated channel on UA-cam.
The Floppotron- located at the intersection of art and science!
Very, very, VERY beautiful!
How is this madness even possible.? 🤔
One step beyond. That's a good idea...
A genius w/ an IQ of 200. 😎
arduino? microcontroller?
@@ultrasvanessha5030 hardcore old-school encoding.
Through Witchcraft!
It's great to hear your new songs again!
This rock n roll in more electronic than electronic music at all
One thing I like about those videos is the display in the background showing the code running as it plays. Might not sound like much to some people but I think it adds to the video.
OMG this is insane! 😍 It seems you can hear someone slapping on a bass guitar during the whole song 😂
Oh my word...I am geeking out so badly now
ROCKING OUT AS WE SPEAK!!!!
Man I missed this unique amazing instrument.
2020 : ‘We need to dump all this outdated computer gear, its useless ....’
Floppotron : ‘Hold my beer .’
The hard drives arnt outdated
Probably one of the best things I've ever seen.
Couldn't help myself... *WHOOO-OOOH LIVING ON A PRAYER!*
Amazing as always
Dude that scanner solo was so sick!
The future's looking bright !
This is just great. How am I only seeing this for the first time today?
"Brings a whole new meaning to the term electronica" (my gf's response while listening to this) lol
Very creative, as a musician myself i am impressed. Thnx
This is such an amazing concept of making music
Please do "Smooth Criminal" or "Leave Me Alone" by Michael Jackson because they are my favourite songs of his and they'd sound great
Yeah, "Leave me alone" would be great!
Smooth Criminal.
"Leave me Alone"
Pretty sure ‘leave me alone’ is what all the little boys said
@@davidmarshall2399 Leave me Alone would sound better than Smooth Criminal on the Floppotron . Almost like the instruments were made to be recreated by machinery.
Dude... The solo is a killer and this man even did the modulation part holy jesus!
I don't think that the floppotron has ever played so high...
i love it, its very rock and roll. i'd go so far as say its the most metal thing i've heard in a long time.
Me: so what instruments do you play?
Pawel: it's complicated
This deserves a billion likes
Whooa, we're halfway there
OwO, livin on a prayer
Matthew Shaw XD, i feel like you should be hated, but i can't
@@ELbabotas1 it's fine, I'm already hated
It’s amazing what you can do with some old stepper motors.
Do “Together in Electric Dreams” by Philip Oakey and Giorgio Moroder
One of my favourite songs from back then. I can almost hear Sambora's guitar. Thanks for that song!
Next *Billy Joel - We Didn't Start the Fire* please!!!
This changed my life.
This uses more instruments than most modern music
The fact that the CC recognized it as music just makes this 1000 times better
I like the new subtitles you added to the video, good job:)
Looks exactly like orange monochrome displays:D
Really didn't think this thing could handle the octive change at the last part of the song because it sounded a little high at the start. Well done. I hope to see a floppotron 3.0 soon with even more moving parts.
I wanna see BAD ROMANCE by Lady Gaga please! You know, before the decade ends
I really like that lyrics have been added!
Squidward on a chair ^^
Aha! A man of culture!
In a thousand years they will find this video and believe many of our great Musicians were machines.
From the series: "Today I sleep early"
ON THE PART OF THOSE WHO LIKE MUSIC AND ELECTRONICS, WE THANK YOU.
I think "Wizards in Winter" by Trans-Siberian Orchestra would be cool.
My brain hurts just trying to understand how you even imagined this. It is one of those things that will be sticking with me for a very long time.
Do “Jerry Was a Race Car Driver” by Primus.
Primus sucks!
Why aren't you using V O I D ? Haha you beat me
Might be too fast for the floppotron but I’d like to see it try.
It can handle Take on Me just fine, so I think it’ll be okay. I can foresee problems with Tommy the Cat, though.
I really appreciate the hard work you put into this awesome device. I would love to hear that song or maybe "Runaway" from Bon Jovi on the Floppotron 3.0.
Keep up the good work, the floppotron deserves more attention.
Great Video ! 👌🏼👍🏼
Can you do next "Out of Touch from Hall and Oates?
I've always been a big Bon Jovi fan, with Livin' on a Prayer being my favorite. This gave that song new meaning in so many ways.
This cover really shines if you put the playback speed to 1,5 : D Good job!
Congrulations from Brazil!!! 🇧🇷
Would it be possible to connect the Floppotron's devices to a Midi Controller (e.g. a keyboard or a Launchpad) to actually "perform live"?
Oh yes. m.ua-cam.com/video/7S5IuaKiZIY/v-deo.html
This gave me goosebumps keep up the good work
Loved it! Also glad to see your still making videos!
this must get to spotify
It''s like the 2 printers are singing to each other. Are they called Tommy and Gina incidentally? :D
My wife actually recognized that one! Amazing
Que doidera! Show de bola!
Those old Techs have a better sound and taking more soul into their song as some singers today...
Thanks for your effort to let them sing this way
Paweł! Więcej Queen!
Fantastic... Unbelievable... Congrats
“Like a Virgin” - Madonna.
No.
@@lmulligan6969 why?
Horrible song. Horrible singer. Horrible person.
L Mulligan If the OP uses this song, just wash your brain out by listening to the Weird Al parody of it, “Like A Surgeon”, immediately after.
Ha ha ha ha. Right on lol
Amazing! Speechless!
Do 'Aqualung' by Jethro Tull. Good luck on the guitar solo
Hey, the 3/4 bar and the key change are on point! Nice one!
2:03 sans confirmed
That is talent... and patience
impressive as always. for the next one, can you make When a blind man cries from Deep purple? you can take the original version or the Metallica cover if you want
I am brasilian and i Love your Channel!!
I've teased musicians how they "play the computer" instead of real instruments. Not you, good sir. Not you.
amazing, best flopotron ever ❤❤❤❤❤
Esto deberia de salir en unpocodetodo
#unpocodetodo
So amazing! I got goosebumps while listening. You got a scanner to sing and play guitar. WOW! Like it so much!
How do we know this isn't just saw waves and a speaker emulation? I don't see any microphones... scamming reddit like this could actually be a lucrative move. I hate those people so I fully endorse.
How dare you, destroying the happiness of people?
@@GabrielSantos-zl2xm Bah! Humbug!
