    Wow. The way you explained throwing the bike really opened my eyes to this. Usually I was taught to throw my weight back but I think that trying to throw the bike in front of you will work better. Thanks!

    I think I've watched just about every manual video on UA-cam but your video is great and I gained some new insight from it. Thanks for the cool vid IMB!

    So true, the way one manual is what you need for the trail and the other for street and more so for show. Great video.

    Very good content and well presented.
    I've been trying to learn to bunny hop and manual for... a couple of years now. Not giving up! I have seen tons of tutorials and this one is up there with the good stuff.
    I particularly appreciate two pieces of advice you give, which I haven't heard before.
    One is about the hand shapes ( thumb hook during the lift and finger hook while holding the front up). One of my most persistent problems is the way I use my upper body. I have tried these shapes and seen instant improvement!
    Second is about compressing before the pop. This is not news to me but you drew my attention to it as an energy management issue - if I don't compress enough or my timing is too slow, too much of the energy I put into the pop leaks into compressing the system and not enough is left to lift the front. Again, instant improvement here too. Thanks and apologies for my verbal diarrhoea:-)

    I think the key part that was missing for me was the part of the pedals and the arms, some tutorials from other videos just explain like "you compress and you lean back"
    Thanks 😁

    Am totally new to the sport, so very ignorant... do you think the use of elbow,knee & chest pads in practicing these skills bad ? i.e. will it throw balance off, so “muscle memory” learns wrong balance points etc. , so when not used later...you need to “relearn” ? (hope that made sense !)

      Don't know if this might help, but I'm also a beginner, and had the same concern about pads. I'm also an osteopath, and also have a fair amount of experience in martial arts, where muscle memory and the right movement 'shape' is important, so I like to think I know a bit about bodies. I tried elbow and knee pads a couple of weeks ago on my first ride and was relieved to find that they felt comfortable going on, didn't restrict movement in the ranges I was using and within a few minutes I wasn't aware of them. I'd say, don't buy cheap, try them beforehand if you can, or send them back immediately if you buy online and they don't seem right. It's a good time to buy coming up to the end of the season, I got mine with big reductions.

    Is the 'right' saddle height the same for normal riding and skills? I mean, it seems I have to lower the saddle height to do the skills like front lifting - Can anyone answer, please?

    • @NCSiebertdesign
      @NCSiebertdesign 4 роки тому +1

      No, you need to lower the saddle to allow more hip movements to do manual. Dropper post seat comes in handy as it is adjustable as you ride.

    Don’t compress the fork ? I love all the conflicting information in this hobby

      you can compress , but it's better to learn the proper technique first.

    Which bike is that? It looks a lot like a Hope HB160 but the linkage is different?
