B-29's were called Super Fortress. Not Stratofortress. That was the name of the B-52.
The American adaptation of the Rolls Royce Merlin, was the Packard Merlin..

Indirectly yes, its range was its most powerful weapon, and it allowed bombers to fly much deeper and more often actually hit their bomb targets

In my opinion, P47 was more important, but it’s underated.
However the stang was sexier and maybe that’s why it’s more popular.

F-16C is descended from the P-51D. Both lethal, beautiful killing machines and legends.

Thee P-47 Thunderbolt beat the 51 in almost every category!!!!! 7 of the top ten American aces, including the top 2 flew the Jug. The range thing is pretty much a myth!!! When the jug was allowed to have the proper drop tanks its range was equal to the 51!!! I reference you to Gregs planes and automobiles on YT. Greg researched army records for 2 yrs and has about 8 hrs on the subject!!! My info comes from my father who flew 104 missions with the 358th FG from Oct 43 to Oct 44. He was then a test pilot on the N -model. I could go on for hours ,but I wont. Most of the German aces had been shot down by the time the 51s arrived in the ETO. The 51 pilots then proceded to shoot down the low time replacements. This was after most 47s were relegated to the 9th AF and ground attack duty where aerial targets were scarce, this was for the last 18mo of the war. Not a fair comparison. Yet they still had 7 of the top ten American aces in the ETO,INCLUDING the top 2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The P-51 was powered by Packard Merlin engines.
Packard also produced luxury automobiles up until WW II.

Ryan, IMHO, the P-51 helped win WW2 but was not alone in this task. Many people don't know that Spitfire Mk. VII's could also fly to Berlin and back, the main goal of the P-51s. But the RAF, RCAF, RAAF, etc. had given up on daylight bombing years prior to the 1943 crisis of the USAAF where their bomber losses over Europe had become largely unsustainable. Thus to continue daylight bombing a fighter like the P-51 was needed. Happily, smart people saw the wonderful Merlin engine working so fantastically in the Spitfire and decided to try it in the P-51 and the USAAF bomber service was saved. Why didn't the British just use Spitfires to escort the American bombers with a very long range version? Probably because they just didn't have the resources to produce large numbers of fighters for that purpose but the Americans did. So it is a much more complicated story than most people actually understand.

I understand pilots would use up the big tank behind the seat first making the aircraft more stable when empty

Great video! Got to see the P51 and my other favorite plane, the F22 fly together at the Atlantic City air show 2 years ago! (What a thrill)

Much easier to watch your video when you wear a suit coat, as was the case for this video. Please refrain from making videos while wearing muscle shirts; it’s just hard to watch. The suit coat today was good, because today was essentially a history lecture, so it is appropriate that you dress like a professor. For simulator flights, a good look would be anything that is at least slightly suggestive of being a military pilot, like khakis or even a bomber jacket. When playing a role, dress the part. Be aware that while I enjoy your presentations, I have consciously avoided ever watching any video where you are wearing a muscle shirt. It just feels wrong.

Absolutely NOT! It helped, but to a lesser extent than the P-47 Thunderbolt
