  • One year and three months have gone by since I started my Animation Mentor journey and it's amazing how much you can learn... I know I still have a really long way to go and I'm really excited about it, meanwhile, this is the best I can do... for now...

    Great reel. Nice natural acting and good use of the animation principles. One of the better reels i've seen (and also love your intro animation lol).

    Excelente trabajo! Me gustan mucho los arcos de accion que usas con las tomas de body mechanics, muy chido estilo de reel!

    Your new shot had me laughing out loud - better than most animation you see coming out of Universities these days. Cant wait for your final demoreel.

    In the beginning, slow the hair slick down, should be a smooth move to show hes confident, when its rushed it looks like hes trying to actually fix his hair instead of a stylistic move, great job either way, but its the little things, I always recommend body language books. What you do it and how you do it, I.e. How fast or shaky, can set all your character apart.

  • @macjc86
    @macjc86  11 років тому

    Haha, it might change for my final reel, but thanks a lot for your subscription and comments ^_^
    Some things are modeled and some others are just painted... The lighting is actually pretty simple once you know the basics. It's only 3 lights and a sphere with an HDRI as texture for extra color and light...

  • @macjc86
    @macjc86  11 років тому

    Haha, thanks... The idea evolved a lot from the first approach, hopefully for the best results, but I'm sure you know about it... Thank you for your kind comments mate, those keep me inspired all the time!

    yeah, it's a great thing this animation mentor, but a bit of expensive unfortunately. it's not for everyone, i guess.
    Your work is just enviable, really great!

    • @macjc86
      @macjc86  9 років тому

      Yes, it's expensive and yeah I agree, it's not for everyone. Fortunately there are some other less expensive options out there to study animation the proper way. At the end, it is an investment more than paying and getting nothing in return.
      Also, thanks a lot for your words, I truly appreciate them.

  • @macjc86

    • @macjc86
      @macjc86  4 роки тому

      This was done using Maya. Animation is not about the software, it's about knowing how to animate regardless of the program you use. So my best advice would be to take animation classes.

    Hola Juan! Vi que eres de méxico asi que mejor te hablo en español n_n Que increíble ver el progreso de tu reel, y pensar que ya tiene 3 años! Estás trabajando en algún estudio grande o algo similar? Yo parto con AM en 3 meses para el próx Summer Term! Algún consejo que me puedas dar desde tu experiencia? Si bien llevo trabajando como animador un poco más de un año siento que me encuentro a años luz de tus escenas de acting!
    Muy buen trabajo, un abrazo y gracias por tu tiempo!
    Saludos :D

    • @macjc86
      @macjc86  8 років тому +4

      +Nico Burmester Hola Nico! Muchas gracias. Sí, este reel ya es tiene sus años pero me sigue gustando, puro cariño de estudiante, jaja. Hace dos años empecé a trabajar en Huevocartoon México, terminamos una peli y ahora vivo en Canadá y trabajo para Dreamworks TV.
      Me alegra que entres a AM pues es una escuela muy buena y aprenderás un montón. Mi consejo para ahora que empeizas es que no tengas miedo de cometer errores; es más, comete muchos errores y aprende de ellos; escucha mucho a tus mentores y sobre todo no te rindas si ves que las cosas no van saliendo como quieres. Toma mucho tiempo ser un buen animador (yo sigo y seguiré aprendiendo siempre).
      Saludos!

    Hola! Pues programas fueron varios: Photoshop, After Effects, Illustrator y Maya, cada uno para diferentes fases del proceso.
    Y contestando a tu segunda pregunta: no, el modelado no es mío, son rigs hechos por la escuela online donde estudié (AnimationMentor), el resto sí es trabajo mío (sketchbook, animación, iluminación, render y compositing)

    Hello... Juan.. great work .. as always..
    I am the guy who stole ur idea from am reel... I really apologize for that..my intention was not to hurt you .. I took it as a reference.. but the other post is of my production demoreel... nothing is stolen in that.. so I request you to delete that comment of yours... 'coz i use that demo for job offers... I seriously apologize to you ... but if you think taking references from the work of artist like you is wrong...then its okay.. I am just less in experience... so it is important for me to take references of reels like one of these....last thing.. plz del that comment...Thanks.. and all the best

    • @macjc86
      @macjc86  9 років тому +2

      The only person you're hurting is yourself as you're ripping off someone else's work. Taking references is not bad at all, but a reference is just that. There's a huge difference between taking references and copying the setup, the layout, the posing and the acting choices. I mean, seriously? Even the blackboard texture is the same. I'll delete the comment in your reel and I hope you understand that you shouldn't do this again.
