Just had my TCL 30 XE 5g update and it's the worst change they could of made. The drop down menu is now large and blocky and some of the icons aren't even labeled. The screen brightness is now way too dark, volume goes up and down by odd numbers now. And a handful of settings that i used daily are now gone. I've had this phone for less than a year and wish i never bought it. The people responsible for this update should be fired. The changes they keep on making are pushing me to go back to a flip phone. Let's see them try and ruin a simple flip phone.
I know this comment may be too late, but yes this phone would be perfect for a secondary device. I have this phone as my primary and it's good enough for me.
My 30 SE in Atlantic Blue came with the July 2022 security patch OOB. Like the preinstalled "game box" app for gaming, something that Motorola's G22 lacks.
Not worth it. The new TCL update ruined all the menus and settings. The sound sucks, headphone jack is cheap and will break if not careful. There's newer phones for around the same price. Get something newer because this phone is already outdated even though it's less than a year old.
I just got this phone about a week ago and it's freaking awesome especially all the storage it has but to answer your question it may break depending on the height of fall but you might as well get a rugged phone if you really want something sturdy,I suggest the Ulefone Armor x10 pro,it's water proof up to 4 ft of water also

I am trying to help my parents with their TCL 30SE to enable double tap screen wake up because it's very annoying and difficult for them to pick up their heavy phone and press the very small power button each time. Is it possible to double tap the screen to wake up the screen and/or swipe up after without having to press the small power button on the right side each and every time? My TCL phone lets me double tap my screen without having to press the power button on the side first.
I like watching reviews to find the phone but I want to get but I must be way out of the loop what are people looking for nowadays the picture in the video the functions everything seemed just fine for me 150 bucks 160 that's perfectly okay with me I don't need to spend $2,000 for anything better this is perfect

Would you recommend this phone to someone who already has a primary smartphone but wants an extra one to surf the web and listen to music via Wi-Fi?

I would go to settings and search for gestures to see if it comes up under that as an option to double tap to turn on the screen
