    I've been working with baked clay for quite a while but this video enlightened me to the fact that masking tape... can be baked. This will revolutionize bulking for my sculptures dude thank you
    Also, since you've baked your sculpture multiple times, that could be why it's so brittle. The longer the Sculpey spends in the oven, the harder it'll get and the more likely it is to break. You have to be pretty sparing with bakes, my biggest tip would be to make limbs separate to the body (with spots to attach them), bake them all at once, and then go over the joints and open areas with some more clay. Saves you some bakes and keeps your clay sturdy! Also makes it easier to keep limbs symmetrical, and since you can attach and remove them at will (until the final bake) it's easier to add details without messing up other areas of the body when you're holding the sculpt.
    Of course, that's my own experience :)

    • @ichthyovenator3351
      @ichthyovenator3351  4 місяці тому

      Thanks for the advice! I usually bake it to avoid smothering it whole sculpting areas so this would probably make things a lot easier!

    In regards to making dioramas and sculpts in the future. I recommend looking at Vallejo Diorama products, similar to what i use for my 1/35 scale ww2 dioramas.
    In regards to the arms and getting those right, I would recommend making them out of a much thinner wire and / or attempting to sculpt them completely separately with attachment points. Might be better to completely free sculpt the arms and hands.

    • @ichthyovenator3351
      @ichthyovenator3351  3 місяці тому

      Good suggestions. I’ve seen vallejo used a lot so I’ve been meaning to try it. The thing with the arms is I’ve noticed I end up not keeping in scale when they’re seperated, but most likely practice would fix that

    If you're looking for something to sculpt I have two ideas when is hard to do the other ones a bit more easy.
    The easy one would be a Acrocanthosaurus (do whatever you want with the acro you're the one making it)
    But the hard one, would be a Becklespinax covered in armor (something akin to how Knights armored up their horses) acting as a sheepdog protecting some sheep from wolves.
