    Super impressive modification. I was waiting for you to through that aluminum block in a CNC machine and when you pulled out the hacksaw I gained a lot of appreciation for your ability and desire to use whatever you have to make something better.

      Thank you, I appreciate that! DIY crafting is mostly about having patience, I found. The hacksaw is an example; it might take longer, but it will do the job! ✌️ DJ

    Thank you for sharing! I would expect that an device sustaining 150A current would have elaborate internal zig zag cooling conduits within the metal block, was shocked when you showed in the video that it is really just 2 straight tube and not even placed anywhere near the heat source!

      Thanks! Yes it is a faulty design, on my opinion. Other than that, they are great, especially for their money!

    Mechanical Engineer here...If you used a metal spring clip instead of epoxy..you would have better assurance of contact and better access...just like a computer cpu heat sink.

    • @CozyRC
      @CozyRC  4 місяці тому +1

      Hi, the epoxy is to make it water resistant again. I added thermal conductive cooling paste between the cooling block and the controller FET's (the white paste). Thanks for watching!

    Good modification that really makes sense... I did a (strange, more risk off leaking i guess) mod to a x8s esc. Made from 1mm g10 material and epoxy a case around the aluminium ribs of the esc and glued that on the esc and added on the top a water in-, and outlet. Works like a charm though, there is a lot off cooling area that way and i didnt have to open it...
    There are also head disappating pads, personally i like these more. Its a dry material and that way you can be sure there is no contact between metal parts...

      The epoxy is to seal it against water again. Thermal conductivity is done by CPU thermal paste 👍

    Holy smokes!, I have done something like that for one of my esc's. I drilled a second side hole through the center to have the block wetter . At least that was the idea. Just plugged mine by beveling the hole abit and using jb weld. , Taped it and put the block on it's side. The jb settled nice.
    Mine was a project build with what I had. The esc was for a car 😊 i have also removed a fin and rounded the base with a chainsaw file so that the tube would have goob contact,,, ans yup!, jb'd it. What I wasn't digging was the tubing linking the tubes. It actually worked well.
    Keep up the good work!! Your hull looks killer! 👍🤙🇨🇦

    • @CozyRC
      @CozyRC  Рік тому

      Thanks madmaxximus! Sounds good on your esc mods. I considered a second perpendicular cooling hole in the block, but I feared the water would take the short-cut and the second loop at the back would not really cool.
      The Twin hull gets along well. Working on the twin motor mount. Pretty stoked about that project! ✌️ DJ

    I copied your idea the only thing I did different was I put my drillings inline with the brass strips so I had to make my hose connections vertical. Gets great water flow It’s temps are always cool man I would love to measure it’s amp draw. It’s fits the boat so much better now. Thanks heaps
    With the pipes coming our vertical I was able to reduce the thickness of the aluminium block and I ground some cooling fins where I could so it’s actually lighter than original now.

    Hi Cozy, a question, I have a 200A 6/8 S esc, and a 4082 2000kv motor max voltage 29 volts, the question is: can I connect two 4s batteries in series or one 8s battery and power everything? Thanks.

    • @CozyRC
      @CozyRC  17 днів тому

      Hi, yes you can use both layouts without issues. If you use 2x 4S packs in series, make sure you use identical lipo's, preferably designated to always run together in series. That way, the condition of both 4S packs stays the same.
      By the way.. 8S on a 2000kV motor is a very extreme setup. I doubt your 200A controller can cope with that. A 1650kV motor would be better suited for 8S, or use 6S with the 2000kV motor. ✌️

      Thanks Mat, and it would be nice to test it side by side with a stock Flycolor 150A esc. Not sure if I will be able to do so, because I will modify both of my Flycolors with this mod.
      I think a water pump is not required actually. The water pickup from the boat in motion is sufficient. ✌️ DJ

    What powder is mixed with epoxy?

    • @CozyRC
      @CozyRC  8 місяців тому

      It's microballoons to thicken the epoxy, with carbon dust to color it grey. The carbon dust is not required, but thickening the epoxy is required to make it into a paste. ✌️
