@idan678 100% it's not even a real drift car and who wants a mustang lol. Traxxas lost me years ago. Most of their stuff is geared towards beginners. The only thing I own traxxas wise is the TRX4 and now even Axial is passing them up on that front. Arrma is passing them up on the basher front. Traxxas doesn't really make any true race buggies. I see a bleak future for traxxas unless they make some fundamental changes. Even pro boat has over taken their boats. Back in the 90s I went with AW T2 over traxxas and never looked back

@@polarlicht4758No, it's for stupid people who want to spend $330 on a gimped plastic POS with 60* of steering and a brushed motor when a Redcat RDS or MST RMX RTR is $50 more expensive and a Yokomo Rookie Drift is THE SAME PRICE. Only a fool would buy a Traxxas. 😂

Details on the electronics you used would be good
Yokomo SP-02D servo with Yokomo V4 gyro, and Hobbywing XR10 esc combo with a 10.5 motor probably. Pretty good setup tbh.

Why is Associated still using Deans Tplugs they do not handle the amperage that modern electronics pull, that is one reason why the Hoonigan Mustang was recalled I beleive as I saw a lot on YT with melted plugs cables and ESC's and at least one battery torched.
Probably because they think people will just change them anyway to suit there batterys. Even if they sold it xt90 I bet people would still switch it to suit them lol

This is the kit I was talking about on your new podcast I would pick this kit over the Traxxas rtr 😂 I like Traxxas but this thing is sweet!
Once you figure out what you're doing with a drift chassis, you won't want either of them.
After watching this I don’t see how the Traxxas can drift that well with only 60 degree angle. Makes me want to try drifting though.
@@Truth_Spoken don't try with the Traxxas. I recommend MST or yokomo, for cheaper it drifts better and you can actually upgrade the car as you progress.

Since AE is basically mainstream right now and hobbyshops all over the country have them, i have a question as im trying to get into 1/8 offroad again since I stopped a while back. Does AE have a competition version with all the upgraded parts for a off road buggy? I used to have a Serpent car with all the trimmings and had to sell it.

Im into crawlers but im trying to to build a drift car i never had one and as a “beginner”i prefer Associated better than Traxxas😅even the Mustang body is not for me
@@EriMCardenasRC and there is nothing wrong with that. My budget won't allow a all out build for me and my kid to learn with. And bodies can always be changed.
The Trashsuxx car is lightly updated 20 year old flaming garbage. A Yokomo Rookie Drift RTR IS THE SAME PRICE as the Trashsuxx, and literally 1000x as capable. Plus Yokomo won't aggressively sue people who try to make parts for their car...
@@mikescherrer4923 you must have seen the same release everyone else seen and thats where you stopped caring. Thats fine. Their “issue” is with companies that’s clone their stuff and make stuff and sell it as a Traxxas product. Those people you’re referring to got caught in a glitch that Traxxas themselves said shouldn’t have happened. They encourage other to make hop ups and such. Just don’t call it a Traxxas product. They can say it fits but that’s it. Really not a big deal. Greatest thing about America we can all make our own decisions and choices.

I would love to see the top rtr drift car makers ( Redcat, Yokomo or hpi; including the Traxxas) compete in little competition and see who made the better rtr drift car
They did. They're all garbage in a lot of the same ways. Electronics are always sub-standard, and nothing is adjustable in the way you need it to be. Don't even bother with RTR drift cars, you'll need to replace all the expensive stuff right away anyways.

RDX and SD2.0 chassis are made by competitive rc drifters from companies that have been developing rc drift plateforms for years, they may be entry level and all plastic but with good electronics and good yokomo shocks you'll get a very solid car to learn or even start doing competitions.
@Jun_GL for sure. I have an rdx now and I bought the aftermarket yokomo shocks. However the yokomo shocks have less travel then my stock rdx shocks. I need to tweak with them a bit more. I understand rdx and sd2.0 are built by companies that have been building drifting cars for a lot longer than AE, however I'm assuming AE spent alot of money and time developing every one of their kits. I'm curious how this AE car will compare to the Reved and Yokomo
@@LegendsPizzaCo Well there's apparently a lack of adjustability in the front end that makes it hard to setup as it should compared to the more competitive chassis on the market. I'll be honest every modern rc drift chassis are drivable with good electronics, it makes most of the job, but you'll be more efficient and get a better driving feeling from products developed by companies who knows their subject.
As for your shocks you can buy longer plastic rod ends, and I suggest to put Yokomo blue o rings in it to make them even smoother 😉

Team associate is just a name owned by another company TA sold out years ago to I believe thunder tiger and hasn’t been the same since
I run almost nothing but TA race vehicles, and I run them HARD. 1/8 buggy, truggy, and 1/10 4wd mod and They are are faithful workhorses. The only things that may he tougher are the Teknos that finish behind me. The tuning envelope is great for a club level guy and I barely spend anything on maintenance. I also have a Slash 4x4 that I've had for years that has probably $1500 sunk into it over the years and it gets smoked by stock Losi Tenacity TTs. TA FTW.

I don't know how to drift myself, but you can tell that Associated car was dialed. And it was so much quieter and smoother sounding
Lol no it wasn't. That thing struggled and only got worse after they "tuned" it. The only reason it was quieter is because they hadn't setup the ESC for timing like everyone else did.

AE has LONG way to go before this thing is ever taken seriously by the drift community.. Good to make the jump from racing to drifting through brand familiarity, but not more than that once people figure out that the front end is garbage and the common parts are proprietary. At $300, one would be significantly better off with an RDX or RD2.0. At least those chassis are relevant and have R&D behind them. This chassis is nothing more than a cash grab, it won't be around long, and it's only a good idea to people whom don't know what they're doing.
I would not say cash grab, it looks like a pretty balanced and capable chassis and it has carbon plates and aluminium shocks for a good price, but I'd definitely suggest to new comers to grab something from ReveD or Yokomo instead, they have years of experience in developing rc drift chassis. It could be a setup or pilot issue but I don't like how this chassis performs in this video even after beeing dialed up.
@@Jun_GL seeing multiple be tested and tuned by National level competitors, they all agree on the same thing. The front end is garbage in terms of Ackerman and bump steer, and there's not enough adjustment range to fix it. They said it felt like they just made something with leftover buggy parts, which is common for AE and Losi to do. As it is, this chassis will never have what it takes to be a real competitor.
@@jacobparker4587 Thanks for the info ! And good to know my impressions where right after seeing it running there, I thought maybe the front shock oil was too soft or gyro gain was too low, but there was a hint when the guy pointed out that ackerman issue.
@@Jun_GL that's the only reason I see this thing as a cash grab.. AE has visited Super G and a couple known tracks in the region asking for help, which is when they were told the front end needed a redesign. They didn't listen to a single word.
