Been playing with the Pro S1 since Christmas. I find the "pop" off the paddle to be very responsive and consistent. The balls stay true (round) much longer than the Dura Fast. None of the original 3 balls that I've used since Christmas have cracked - thus living up to the durability claims. However, the balls to get dingy and less bright over time. For recreational play, this is just fine. I purchased another dozen last week and will put them into the rotation, using the newer, brighter ones for tournament play and the older, duller ones for practice and training. Love this ball.

I have played with the ball for a couple of weeks and haven’t broken it yet despite playing in 30’s and 40’s. We did notice it played a bit hard (doesn’t give much when hit and lose some feel) in those conditions. I am not sure if that was because it had been used for 20-30 hours of play @ that point or just the nature of the design. Overall like much better than the Franklin X40, Core, and Dura in these conditions.

Absolutely the best ball on the market for hardcourt use. It plays fast, takes spin exceedingly well, and lasts longer than I ever imagined was possible for a pickleball. It's not just a little more durable; more like 5 to 10 times more durable than other rotomolded balls. It also doesn't feel as if it goes soft over time. I've got some with around 40 games on them and they feel/play the same as one with just 4-6 games on them. The only negative is they will go SLIGHTLY out of round; nowhere close to how a Dura will become egg shaped and wobble all over the place. Furthermore, the Pro S1 will recover its shape within minutes. I generally always have 2 balls in play. If I feel one is getting a bit wonky, I'll simply pocket that ball and play with the other for a bit.

Just some gearbox ball and it cracked faster than a Franklin. It didn't warp though which was nice. Someone left one of these new Selkirk balls on the court and we tried it out and I loved it! Made me want to learn more. And this video sold me. I'm getting some!

so no sold by using it, but only by the monotonous presentation?

Yeah good point. There was more to it than just that. Starting with (1) hearing others on UA-cam talk about the warranty before ever playing with it, (2) being on the fence to buy this or the geabox ball, (3) buying the gearbox not this ball but having the gearbox crack faster than a Franklin, (4) wishing I tried this ball instead of the gearbox, (5) randomly being able to play with this ball and not seeing it crack, (6) coming back to UA-cam to learn more, (7) then feeling like okay yay let's get this ball. So, playing with it was part of it and was more important than watching this video. But watching ball review videos like this on UA-cam was the final push.

The balanced aerodynamics are interesting from a ball control/spin perspective but, relative to being crack resistant, I'm more interested in the material change which avoids/eliminates the glass transition temperature fragility, and the manufacturing process (injection molded, roto-molded) and hole fabrication process (molded-in, drilled after molding, etc) which minimizes surface imperfections which could later become crack initiation points. Bil Kowalski, can you please comment on these aspects of the S1 ball design?

Ok, I was a big Franklin X-40 guy, but now that I've tried the Selkirk Pro S1, I'm a believer. Truer spin yes, and a little harder. Question though, are there three different hole sizes, or just two?

Might want to look at user feedback, as there are multiple reports of these balls becoming wobbly after a few sessions. No, they aren't cracking, but if a ball is wobbly, it starts bouncing unpredictably and is usually retired for another ball.

Bought selkirk balls last christmas and they absolutely sucked. Out of round and cracked frequently. Why will these be any different?

Completely different plastic formulation as well as hole design.
