Love the ball! Very durable. We have been using this one ball for about 35 games now in Dallas. We play at 4.5 + levels. From last week, temperature has been around 38 degree in the morning and the ball still stays in shape and no crack. Color faded a lil bit, but that is all. All my buddies are buying this once it becomes available.
Played with one last night in 80 degree weather in FL. I immediately thought is was heavier than a dura but played similar. Fast, clean, just a heavier ball at first. I got used to it while playing. A good ball is one you don't notice. Another good ball is the Vega 40. Very similar to a Dura but does not lose shape nor give crazy bounces.
80 degrees? That's it I'm moving to Florida. It's been raining for 4 days and im fiending to play. I gotta figure out where im gonna get my Pickle on during winter.
Thanks for the review. We, everybody at my gym, all prefer the Penn Hot Lave indoor ball, for its color. Seems to last well and is far easier to see against the maple gym floor. Onyx is a good color, under the LED lights, and lasts well, too. Fila looks good, but doesn't last-AT ALL. If the Selkirk came in a color we could see, NOT Yellow or light green, I'd buy some.
Our DUPR 4.5 RR played the S1 tonight. Granted, nearly all of us were caught off guard as it was announced just prior to play began that due to Selkirk sponsorship the S1 was the ball for tonight's event. No new balls, just picked randomly from the drill/teaching basket. Yes, they are harder than the X-40, and similar to the Dura but in 6 games we changed out warped balls several times. Probably due to the fact they were used and no one really knew how old, still it kinda sucked being caught off guard. Our new indoor facility has 18 beautiful outdoor courts with a temp of 68°, perfect for new X-40's, but live and learn. Personally, I'll have to buy some new S1's and drill with them a few hours before I criticize their longevity/play-ability. In ending, I can say, with the power and spin capabilities of dozens of new paddles, ball manufacturers have their work cut out keeping pace with technology. Update: 1 month later I ordered 1 dz S1's, and returned the dz within 3 days. Two of the 3 we put into play warped enough to notice. 2 months later, I have to say, the balls still warp but the play is noticeably faster than with a new X-40. I have interspersed Dura's and S1's into my personal drill basket full of X-40's, and will continue to do so, but give the nod to (indoor 68 deg) the X-40 for players sub 4.0 still learning touch and roll dinks at the kitchen, and since newer looking Dura's lay cracked all over the club, give the S1 the slight nod over the expensive short life of the Dura for 4.0 and above.
alright guys, i went to a tournament that had this as their official ball and we came home with some of these balls and used a couple of brand new ones just last night for rec play. What everyone noticed is that after a few games, it didnt break but some sides of the ball goes FLAT shape. Whats with that? I thought it was just my ball but it also happened with my partner's ball. Yeah, Selkirk maybe right with it NOT BREAKING but going FLAT? hmm. Dont think this should replace X40 even if it turns to mush and breaks imo
Hey You Know How the Outside Pickle 🥒 Ball I Think has the Smaller Holes while the Inside Ball uses the Bigger Holes? It seems like it'd be the other way around but having these new Balls containing both Sized Holes is Wild!
Have you noticed any inconsistency in bounce? We played for 2 hrs today with my first ball and like the speed and look forward to better durability (as everyone is reporting), especially as we get in more outdoor games in the 30's and low 40's during Oregon winter play. But we also noticed some inconsistency on bounces, especially on serves - sometimes like a mini kick serve, sometimes like a backspin skidder. Don't really get that with Franklins and only occasionally with Duras as they start to deform.
I haven’t seen any inconsistencies with the bounce - it doesn’t scuff the same way other balls do so that may cause potential skids on slick surfaces. Thanks for the comment!
Thanks for the info. We're in Phoneix (5.0 level), we play dura in summer (Franklin's melt), and tend to play Franklin's in winter as Dura's Crack constantly. Would love to know where we can get some of the new Selkirk balls to try .... Cheers
Can you give your comparison with this ball and the new GB1 from gearbox ? (Came out august 2023); I have been impressed with the GB1s coming from X40s.
The Bad: Visibility is Not as good as others. It has a dull color compared to the almost florescent yellow/green of other balls that have a higher visibility.
people are such frauds. the second they use a new ball they are no longer responsible for anything they do on the court that is bad. always the new ball's fault for anything that goes wrong
does anyone remember when pickleball was all the rage in the 70's then died for 40 years? I have a feeling it'll crash and burn again after another year or 2 at most.
@@HighFivePickleball history repeats itself. at our local tennis & pickleball courts, a few months ago, there were always 12-16 pickleball players every time I went to play tennis (about 3x a week), over the past few weeks, it's been 2 or less. I hear this from other places around the country too. Some places it's growing and doing fine, but I think overall, it's declining from it's peak.

Have good results playing the Vega as well. Cheaper too.

I think the Selkirk ball he’s talking about is an OUTDOOR ball.
Thanks for the comment!
Of course when you are 82 like me I might do this once. Celebration of life the week following
Awesome! Keep it up

bad players like a slower ball, that is why the x40 is so popular
@Aaron-mn2ro you mean the pro Julian Arnold who likes x40 is a bad player?

Solid selection of music on the court. Since no pricing or availability, review is lacking major details. Isn't there suppose to a warranty??
Some people have mentioned that but I haven’t received confirmation from Selkirk. I will be posting about this later.

When interviewing that Michael character, it seems like you could’ve left off the “ball” when you asked if he was a “ball snob”.
Great point - I’ll pass that along 🤭
Any clues as to when the Luxx paddle will be available??

Is this outdoor or indoor pickleball

@@HighFivePickleball I bought the same one, some said it was indoor and I got confused - thanks for clarification
When will they be available to buy?

Cool Video - Very Interesting 🤔
How much ???
Thanks for the comment! That is tba
Is it the same size as dura or x40? Same weight? Bounce height?
Thanks for the comment! I’ll include that in the next video
I'd be curious if it's quieter due to push back form people living close to courts. So far any quieter balls aren't worth playing.
Thanks for the comment! I’ll look into it
Have you tried the Erne balls? From the guys that make the Erne ball machine
It is an okay ball. Gets dirty before it breaks, then acts weird by skipping or not bouncing.

Until they invent a recyclable ball there is no game changer.

Nah they should invent balls that lowers the decibels significantly.

wiffle balls...WTH?????
