I have a 16 maxima SR and I need to replace my headlight housing but I don’t feel like paying $4000 for new housings. They are H ID and they are sealed units. You can’t get to the ballast and you can’t get to the bulb. I have two connectors a regular I would say eight pin connector and a smaller connector, which I think would go to the H ID like how yours is but the connectors different.

Yes. The factory hid harness plugs into the ballast instead of the bulb so you need the adapter harness that plugs into the factory hid harness to make it be able to plug straight into the halogen bulb.

I accidently ordered a hallogen housings for an 03 with xennnon. Just debating if i should retrun them or attempt to convert to halogen. My question, is, is the comverstion just a matter of eliminating the balast and having a connection to plug into the hallogen bulb? Or does the harness from ebay provide some other function . Besides alsoi msking it look clean instead cutting splicing wires.

Yes it’s technically halogen housings but as long as it’s not the his housing it’ll work. And there are brackets that attach to the old headlights you have to swap to the new ones.

Yea thats the issue im running into with Hid factory the headlight is built into the headlight so im trying to figure how to replace the whole thing switch it to halogen just so i can get the leds i want nissan was real trifling for this shit lol

Right lol just look up 2012 maxima halogen headlights (youll have to buy these for the conversion) and then get the adapter and your choice of bulbs and you should be good!

I cant get rid of it.. but I was in an accident in it and it messed up the drivers side low beams had it fixed and got it back home and now a month later both head lights are not coming on took it back and they said the ballasts were bad.. I'm getting power through all the electricals just no low beams .. but the problem is the ballasts are like almost a 1k a piece.. and I cant justify spending over 2k on headlights.. so I want to convert them to Halogen.. so I'm hoping this works
Right! That was my issue. The driver side was starting to flicker so I went to replace it and the ballasts for mine are like $300 and the bulbs are $100 so I figured I’d just swap to halogen and then get leds.

Your headlight lenses are badly faded and hazed over from sun damage. I would recommend polishing them up with some Mother's headlight or aluminum rim polish for about 5-10 minutes on each side and your lenses will look a LOT more clear.
I’m not sure of any aftermarket options unless you wanted to retrofit which would mean cutting up your factory headlights.... mine was so simple because it comes factory with a halogen option.

They might make an adapter for the plug but I’m also not 100% sure if they even make the newer maximas without hids…

The adapter plugs into the plug that plugs into the ballast. The halogen won’t have the ballasts.

That’s pretty much it. It’s just taking the power that initially went to the ballast and sends it to the halogen or led light.

The low beams are most likely hids so you’ll need an adapter harness and new housings to run led lights in the low beams..
Mines an 07 3.5 and I have to convert mine from hid to leds that’s why I had to buy the harness and new housings

Hey when converting HID to Halogen, do you still need the ballast?
No. The halogen housings don’t have a spot for the ballasts to mount. Basically that wiring harness bypasses the ballast all together!

Where do you get the halogen equivalent headlight assembly? My car stock had HID with ballast.
You just buy the non hid headlight housings. Depending on your car it should have a hologram style housing and an hid style housing.
