✔️ The European programmes for youth Erasmus+ and European Solidarity Corps should be accessible for all young people. That is why it is crucial that projects funded through these programmes become more inclusive. Some young people across Europe are disadvantaged compared to their peers because they face exclusion or obstacles due to economic or educational barriers, living in rural areas, facing a disability, a migrant background, etc. These youngsters are identified as young people with fewer opportunities in the European Programmes for youth. How do we involve these young people in all of the phases of our projects and programmes?
🎯 Concrete tips and tricks on how to do that:
    ● Start by looking at your own organisation and at the local demographic. To design inclusive international youth projects, your organisation needs to commit to inclusion in the local community as well. Identify who are the young people you never see among your participants. Try to find out why they are not taking part in your programmes. Is it because they don’t feel welcome? Is it because the conditions for them to enjoy their experience are not met?
    ● Discuss in your organisation, what kind of help can you offer to youngsters to overcome the obstacles that are holding them back? Set attainable goals.
    ● Look for resources to support you. The SALTO Inclusion and Diversity Resource centre publication “Inclusion A to Z” is available in several languages and can be used as a compass to find your ways on this journey towards inclusion.

“It was really important for me to learn and to understand that inclusion is really about transforming society. We would go to universities with young people with disabilities and they would be the ones that are teaching the volunteers really what they need, expect, what they want out of people that are working with them.”
