I love Cell saga, especially Cell's first interaction with Piccolo. The mystery surrounding Cell, the story build up and the reveal was very well done!
Nah I prefer the way abridge did it in the original cell immediately tells piccolo his plans to absorb the androids but in abridged we don’t know that he wants to absorb the androids and is only revealed when he appears to fight 17 and piccolo
@@bakedbeans7093why would that be a better way to tell the story
@@EthericalOne it's not idk what they're on
@@EthericalOne because it builds suspense as you don’t know what cells true motives are. You think he’s after the androids to team up with them until he shows up and 17 doesn’t know who cell is “wait I thought he was on your side”
“What why would I know him”
“Hello brother”
It’s kinda like a plot twist when you realise cell has different motives and just doesn’t tell the hero’s his motives like most villains do for some reason
Cell saying Trunks defeated the androids in his timeline is NOT actually a plothole. That assertion relies on the assumption that time travel in dragonball is linear and works on Back to the Future logic. It doesn't. The cell that is in the present timeline is NOT the same Cell from the timeline future Trunks arrives from - he can't be, because Trunks KILLS imperfect Cell in that timeline after he destroys the androids. RATHER, Dragonball time travel seems to operate on branching multiverse principles, where every action creates a new offshoot timeline - this is why Trunks is so confused when he finds android 19's head and why he's shocked to find that the present-day android 17 and 18 are FAR stronger than in his timeline. Moreover, he was wrong about WHICH androids would arrive - #20 and #19 did not show up first in his time because in HIS time, they IMMEDIATELY killed Gero when he activated them and the Z fighters never encountered #19 at all. Cell dying in the present AND his larval form being destroyed in the lab by Krillin and Trunks did NOT impact Trunks' future at ALL. His future still HAPPENS, which means that you CANNOT change the past of your OWN timeline by traveling back in time - that would create a paradox effect so the universe seems to not allow for that (and this may be why we never see time travelers from the future in the real world - it may be that paradoxes are "not allowed" by the rules of existence in our reality, so time travel backwards in time is impossible as a result) - instead, Trunks travels to the past of a NEW timeline that is an offshoot of the chain of events in HIS future. Trunks thought he could save his future by changing the past, but instead, he changed the future of the PRESENT timeline, rather than his OWN future.
CELL, too, when he steals the time machine, logically did not do it from the future of THIS timeline but from an alternate universe's future. Basically, instead of traveling back in time you are REALLY traveling the multiverse and finding a very SIMILAR - but not identical (hence, android 19 and hence #18 and #17 being stronger than expected) parallel UNIVERSE - another VERSION of the one you came from, and entering that universe at a different space-time coordinate - what from your perspective is the "past". Trunks' time machine isn't so much a time machine as it is a multiverse-traveling machine. In fact, the multiverse is a proven REALITY in dragonball - we KNOW there are about a dozen different universes (at least, in THIS bubble of reality) and that those universes are parallel versions of the DBZ/S universe (for instance, Saiyans and namekians exist in more than one universe). It could ALSO be that even those only represent one multiverse in an infinite SEA of multiverses (the fact that Zeno erases all of existence in Trunks' future - which should include the past and present too - kind of PROVES this to be the case because none of the present-day universes vanish as a result and there are TWO Zenos even though Zeno is supposed to be BEYOND existing in just one timeline or universe).
In other words, the world of dragonball is far, far bigger than just the universes seen in the tournament of power. Infinite, most likely. Infinite multiverses, each made up of a collection of universes, each with its own gods and angels. It's been suggested that namekians and their dragonballs are travelers originally from outside the known multiverse - perhaps from an entirely DIFFERENT multiverse - yes, I'm saying you can have multiverses INSIDE of multiverses.
i guess that's true
so every multiverse had its own cell also ?
It's not just his character introduction. The build-up to his reveal was phenomenal.
As put by Totally Not Mark in his Android/Cell arc vid, the plot point of the other time machine felt like a chess piece on a checkerboard; something about it felt so out of place and ominous that it served in building up the tension of his reveal.
Haven't watched a TNM video in years but that video on Cell's introduction was amazing.
@@goldman77700 I'm not just talking about his video on Cell's introduction. He made videos reviewing each arc in _DBZ_ and in his video review of the whole Android/Cell arc, he talks about how intentionally unnerving the sudden appearance of the other time machine felt. Like a chess piece on a checkerboard, because it felt so out of nowhere and out of place. And that's why it serves as a great part of the build-up Cell's reveal.
Imagine even if the editor didn’t keep constantly make Akira make changes. How different the cell saga would’ve been
@@andrewgarfield9898 That's why this is the one case where I think micro-management actually worked out in a story's favor. Especially when it's revealed Toriyama never intended for Cell to achieve his Perfect Form, but another one of his editors pushed him to do so. Because, from a storytelling standpoint, it made sense that Cell achieves what he wants before our heroes were able to beat him. Plus, it makes Cell's journey a bit more complete.
Imperfect Cell is still my all time favorite villain in the series. Definitely a top tier introduction.
Future Gohan was beaten by 17 and 18 with one hand.
Teen Gohan beat two with one hand.
I loved how the anime played up the creepy/horror elements of Cell's introduction it was just so freaking good.
Imperfect Cell's intro with all of the Z Fighters being confused by his multiple energy signals is unmatched. It was so well done.
King poccolo had the best villain introduction and it is heavily underrated.
nah not even close, cell's one was way better
@@cellandbuuaremyfavoritedbz1542 Krillin dying and at the time death was big because the concept of reviving people was not introduced yet ect.. Not even close?, It's very close to me
King who? Compared to current characters king piccolo is a literal ant lol
@@andrewgarfield9898 what power level has to do with the entire premise of villain introduction?,
Agreed!!! Very well done.
I always enjoyed the cell saga because of this. The shift the saga took as soon as Kami reveals another threat that’s been lingering down below for the last 4 years.
Nothing to me beats a gaseous entrance of a physical manifestation nightmare that is Majin Buu. The ups and downs of his morality to being the only one to destroy us. Buutenks beating down a caught off Gohan is just nuts.
Tao Pai Pai was a great villain. I think he’d be A tier if he was the main villain
damn right cell has the best introduction. It was really cool to see Cell evoultion and also hes has the perfect theme song
Cell successfully killed two main characters. A feet Frieza still can't do
cell and beerus were the two villains who goku knew he couldn't beat and he gave up also
well cell could've actually killed vegeta if gohan didn't interrupted @@ishowspeedplug2845
Yeah wtf? Frieza killed krillin and vegeta. Cell killed trunks and 16. 16 wasn’t a main character
@Gilbert_Dice_Gottfried you forgot goku, also he got a double kill on trunks, his time line, and the one we call future
@Gilbert_Dice_Gottfried Krillin is a side character.
Cell is still my favourite Dragon Ball villain who has A Great Introuction
Cell Is Definitely The Greatest Villain In the Series , He Has Op Potential, Spawn Cell Jrs having Sayian Cells , Namekian Cells , And Could Train to become the strongest Villain Ever In the Whole Franchise
He's Most Fav Villian in The Entire Franchise
His Introduction Was Far Better Than Buu's Introduction
he could achieve ssj god , blue even ultra instinct forms since he has sayian DNA
I actually like Freeza's quite a bit. The side heroes meet this small little alien guy who we know is pretty strong but like, our heroes can take him after some shenanigans, right?
RIGHT?!
Little did we know.
Honestly i wish cell never evolved and he was more of a horror hiding in the shadow character .perhaps he destroys the sun or puts earth into eternal darkness and then spawns cell juniors out and then kills everyone one by one taking everyone out lik an assasin.tht would have ben an awesome atc instead toriyama went for the same lame power up turn into humanoid with powers...I can't blame him it was the easy way our but he could have experimented with this and Android arc instead of going fir the safe boring story.to me perfect cell sucked .it felt like a rushed made up story to get rid of 17 18
Agreed! He should have never transformed. The other forms are lame.
Imperfect will always be the true Cell in my eyes.
Cell is a horror villain, not a generic shonen villain human faced snorefest.
@@dasnoivern I do feel however like it wasn't toriyama who made the choice to go easy and by the book arc but everyone else pressured him to do it. He originally wanted 16 17 to kill everyone and really wanted to make something difrent and a story not like before it seems but toriyama was forced to change the story compeltly into Shonen super warriors because the editors and others forced him to. That might be why toriyama wanted out after cell and not do dbz anymore .they kept changing what he originally wanted to do. I really would like to see the original story of androids by toriyama because that is the Canon version in my book.
yeah i agree many people like cell's first form tho
his semi perfect and perfect forms are also cool
but not as cool as imperfect cell @@dasnoivern
@@wingedhussar1453 I want to see a horror genre themed manga with Imperfect Cell. He was truly something too unique for Dragonball and it wasn't ready for greatness that was Imperfect Cell.
argree@@dasnoivern
The "imperfect cell/android" arc had a viscerally ominous and dystopian feel to it. All of the Cell voice actors brough him to life in their own unique way. But this version sent chills down my spine.
3:50 "forseen and done nothing!" Nah, I'm just kidding. Sorry, Kami.
Idk Frieza Killing a whole civilization on Namek and even kids on Namek is pretty cool
His 1st Form will always be the best form
2nd form clears
Agreed. The sheer sense of suspense and dread really amp up cells intro! 😨😨😨😨
cells intro was terrifying and his journey to perfection was a lot of fun to watch and something very different to every other db villain. Why he's my favourite character in the series
It's because the buildup was meticulous and mysterious. You see the effect Cell is having before you even know what it looks like. What Kami says about him is chilling, the weirdness with the other time machine, and then the entire population of Gingertown inexplicably disappearing. And when we see Cell, it only raises more questions. What is this thing? How did it gain possession of the time machine? Why is it giving off the ki of both the heroes and previous villains? Why did it come here?
The way the mystery is slowly resolved is paced like a horror movie. It is made obvious that the true threat to Earth is Cell.
Piccolo was even disgusted.
Dbz is no different than wwf with the intros
Because he is literally the best villain introduced into DBZ.
@1sonjohn44 Frieza is the best villian, Cell had the best saga. Freiza had you legit stressed tf out lol
What's your thoughts on the Goku Black introduction, specifically the anime version? I feel like that was first time in DBS where we had a sense of dread and actual seriousness. He really came out swinging by killing Future Bulma right off the bat, and then that reveal of it being "Goku"
the only best thing besides cell's introduction
I just wish the arc was a bit longer . And the ending wasnt so freaking depression and tragic
DBZ is life nd goku (Kakarot) is really a true hero nd my true hero for ever....!!!!!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Tbh my favourite arc in order goes:
Namek/Frieza
Android/Cell
Saiyan
Buu
What are y’all thoughts?
for me first is cell arc
@@cellandbuuaremyfavoritedbz1542 I hear you
Namek and Cell’s buildup are great
yep definitely @@Praaggzz
@@cellandbuuaremyfavoritedbz1542 on separate point would you say goku is selfish for refusing to come back to earth immediately after each arc?
@treysmith4935 lol tbh Messi’s close control is top tier but Ronaldo’s focus is next level
honestly, I sorta liked the Buu saga the most.... partly cuz of the absurdity "yes Im going to summon the super powerful civilization ending Majin buu.... the musculaaaaar...... fat blobby cotton candy mentality and IQ of a 5 year old..... wtf ok, ok I can salvage this I can HOLY POO HE TURNED MY STRONGEST MINION INTO CANDY!!!"
Cell's introduction was the best in DBZ because it was ominous, creepy & most importantly unknown. The Z fighters didn't know that Cell was coming. They were told about Frieza, they were told about Majin Buu. Cell is an android & Future Trunks DID warn Goku about Androids created by Dr. Gero that would appear in 3 years, but he was talking about Androids 17 & 18. Plus in the present, after the Z fighters trained for 3 years, the Androids that appeared were not 17 & 18, but 19 & 20(Dr. Gero himself).Neither the Z fighters NOR Future Trunks had ANY idea of yet another android named Cell.
Watching vid now.....quick question maybe can make a vid about it
How would the story played out if 19/20 were the main villains!???
Or 17/18 without cell introduction??
Love your content Mike! You always make My day 😊😊😊❤❤❤
Remember that time when he said he’d be leaving behind UA-cam for good? I’m so glad he lied and decided to continue this is one of my favorite channels
For me, it's Freeza. You Americans suffered because of the dubbing; his Brazilian Portuguese dub turns the character into a bloodthirsty psychopath. Cell comes right after.
I know the out of universe reason, but why didn't Kami say anything about Cell to the Z Fighters, and what kinda impact would Kami informing them actually have?
Cell Saga was the best Saga. His introduction was done with Intrigue. It took the troupe of having the major villain making the previous villains team up with the heroes work as well as during the Frieza Saga. His appearance pushed the heroes to exceed their limits. I do love what TFS did.
Imagine the horror of sensing Cell's ki.
It's like you walk past a room and hear the voices of everyone you've ever loved or hated. Then you enter, and it's just one monster.
Many of the previous villains in the franchise, I would say most of them has an in your face introduction. So I agree that in terms of introduction this one was the most interesting and mysterious. In terms of best villain I still think it's Freeza. I think the DB fandom is split mostly between Cell and Freeza, it seems like you disregard Freeza as if he is not a good villain but maybe I am wrong.
Cell returning in the future will be iconic.Him training in a hyperbolic time chamber to achieve Golden or ultra instinct form so he can challenge all the universes in new cell games.
Ofc the two characters that came from the Future had the best introductions in the series 😂 they had a cheat sheet and time to plan out their arrivals accordingly (Trunks and Imp. Cell are GOAT'ed)
Myself I will say overall Cell is up there with Frieza as the best introduction in the whole franchise because it just throws everything thst we know into chaos. Frieza might be better because not only do we see him destroying the Namekian villages but Krillin and Gohan sensing his power and saying he was stronger than Vegeta who was a planet buster level villain, you also had Goku tell King Kai about this new threat but when King Kai a literal hod sees it's Frieza that is on Namek he shouts at Goku to even dare cross his path and Frieza is truly on another level and Goku would stand no chance. At this point it's hard for me to pick between Cell and Frieza because Frieza puts everyone else that has come before him both villain and hero to shame with his power given we don't see this power but we can tell he is powerful givem Vegeta doesn't challenge him openly, he has henchmen like Zarbon snd Dadoria serving him who are stronger than Vegeta, and King Kai not only knows of Frieza but is terrified of him. Cell while not the strongest villain does show his threat level very quickly and is right up there with a super sayian and given he gets stronger with every city he clears of life and what his ultimate goal is and even Kami realizes it's truly all hands on deck the day he knew would come is finally here and he must leave us for good. But it is a toss up for me as far as the best and I think it depends on how long you consider the introduction to last.
i link bungie's introduction of the flood in halo 1 to Cell's reveal. it really subverts expectations for an action-adventure series to become a horror story for a short time, and pull it off so perfectly.
the only thing that could have been better is if piccolo pulled up in the town at night, possibly during a light rain.
I could have sworn a video about this topic was made for this channel already. But it could also be someone elses video where they talked about Cell having the best introduction and maybe Mike could have guest speaking on it.
Most Villain introductions had the villain not do shit ie vegeta and frieza. Buu was underwhelming due to his build up only for him to be very child like a fat pink goo looking.
I would say this is the best introduction… but at least on DBZ portion almost all the villain introduced were great… even Majin Buu was cool.
Cell was an interesting villain because, he was made up of some of the characters in dbz. His downfall was that he wanted Gohan to be stronger to test himself
Cell was great. Buu was basically a giant toddler and that entire arc was a giant mess.
Frieza may be my favorite villain, but Cell has my favorite arc in the series.
Idc what anyone says the Android/Cell saga are peak Dragonball
Lmao, turning into a villain is Vegeta's "technique".
CELL 😰😰😰.!!!
Cell is the best Villain in the entire Series
It had the best intro but when he became "perfect" it became the worst saga in DBZ.
I wonder if there can be a timeline with a Cell that has Buu DNA?
Majin Buu Actually had the best villain reveal
hey there bro very nice video
cell is definitely the best and greatest Villain In The entire franchise
The thing that makes Cell stand out as a villain so much to me is how his menace is maintained even when he's weaker than his opponent. The mystery and creepiness factor make him seem like a true threat even while Picollo continues to beat him into the dirt. Then there's the way he dominates Trunks when Trunks goes ultra saiyan despite Trunks' power level being higher than what he was outputting. With most villains, the moment the hero becomes stronger than them the threat and sense of danger disappears, even Cell fell prey to that against Super Vegeta. But in those 2 instances, Cell accomplished something that most villains never do even once.
he was also very smart to convince vegeta to let him absorb 18
he had vegeta's DNA , So he know he has his best weakness
he took vegeta's pride and broke it also
that's why cell's the best villain in the franchise
I wonder who got killed first in future by Android
cell was introduced like a horror villain
Please make this video, "How strong would Cell realistically be if Krillin never killed him in his Larva State." The mini robot would continue to collect data on Gotten and Trunks. Vegetas progression over the 7 year gap. Goku going super sayian 3!! Ultimate Gohan vs Super Buu. This could be at least 45 minutes.
yeah that would be cool
A fun way i look at future trunks is that theres 4 timelines... All of which end in unique ways....
Timeline a is future trunks timeline. Where he is killed by imperfect cell.
Timeline b is the cannon timeline. Where gohan beats perfect cell.
Timeline c is the future timeline where trunks kills imperfect cell.
Timeline d is a timeline where the android saga plays out. We never see this timeline. But it connects us to the timeline a as we cant have a trunks thats alive and dead.
This can create a fun hypothetical for gt and super having parallel timelines if you dont like them following after each other. And it fits with a majority of the time rings we see
imagine there a timeline where cell is never killed and gone to develop himself further
he will be insanely strong
I think Super Buu's introduction makes second place for me when it comes to best villain introduction
for me 1st best cell
then 2nd super buu
From "The Big Monster of Nicky Town"
To "The Perfect Being who kicks Perfect Ass"
You Remember the moment when perfect cell used imperfect cell's voice saying the big monster Of nicky town
It was alllllin the music man!
Cell has always been my favorite Dragon Ball villain, and I'll die on that hill
yeah cell truly is the greatest villain ever
Cell was still imperfect, but his intro was perfect.
Cell is the best
He didn't...
Cell videos 👍
Usually I always say the manga is better. But Cell's introduction in Z's anime was iconic, especially in Japanese. I rewatched Z last year and every time I hear him say Piccolo Daimao I still get chills to this day
Hi Mike 👋
Bro I didn't know how much I would had cared about this video till... I seen the video! Love love it ! No cap
Imperfect Cell might be my favorite villain in the series
The vhs/dvd trailers were so good for cells introduction
🔥
8:29 😂😂😂😂
Finally, someone that understands me😂
Can you please do a video on Piccolo vs Dabura?
Dropped everything to watch more goated content
I’m not going to lie, I’m glad that Piccolo was the very first to encounter and interact with Cell before the others. And I think Toriyama did that exceptionally well. And yeah Cell is still to this day my second favorite villain character next to Frieza. His introduction is definitely the best out of all of the villains in my book.
definitely agreed 👍👍👍
He needs to be brought back as black death god ultra instinct orange beast perfect cell. He's got all their DNAs... would be interesting imo
That seems more interesting than cell max
well cell max is not the original cell , he's a different model
i hope how would cell max react to himself as original cell to achieve cell ultra instinct black god beast perfect cell , that would be too cool
cell really just came in and sucked everybody out dry lmao
i imagine what would Happen if cell obsrobed the entire human population
wonder how strong would he get ??
@@cellandbuuaremyfavoritedbz1542 cell is basically low key morro or morro is low key cell. they even have the same final form face lol and the same absorbing abilities

because they have same face and same abilities @@chad63
Kid Buu has the best introduction, showed up and immediately blew up the planet
