I'm so sorry about yesterday everyone. I so wanted to go live on the Icon of the Seas but it did not go well. However I am on the Largest cruise ship in the World and they made one change from the Oasis Class ship that that is a game changer.

I think the Promenade being open with windows out on both sides enables it to literally be more spacious and open. All the other large ships have cabins along both sides giving it that closed in feeling.

I don’t know if I’m on a cruise I want it to look like a ship. I don’t want it to look like I’m at the mall.
Yeah, upload speeds are always slower no matter cellular or wifi. Download (streaming) is not the same as upload. Do a speed test and see what the upload speed is when you want to test again. IMO you need at least 2 mpbs upload to be successful going live. No worries. Enjoy your trip!
Check back with us at disembarkation as to how "spacious" it feels when all 4,000 people try to leave at once. I will be curious to see how that goes

I'm just glad that you made it on the ship. The airplanes to get you there was ridiculous but so glad you got there. Thanks for all you do and I watch your shows daily. When we were cruising, we had way better service, ironically, after we slowed our settings (lower quality setting) the videos sent faster and weren’t much different. Also, most ships have repeaters in various spots, those spots will be pretty good. Treasure hunt !

Everyone is having issues going live- the only one who was able to really get anything decent was Matt on the pre pre sneak peak that he was on

That ship looks awesome! I love the wide open spaces because it isn't so claustophobic. I'm glad you made it on.
I greatly appreciated the raw, live, crap video feed because sometimes not having Hollywood quality is ace sometimes! Plus, it shows how crap cruiselines might inadvertently being, on purpose maybe in some cases, making their internet provider look bad. I don't get it. I think there is something about 'live feed' and bandwidth that I am very ignorant on! Thus, I'm still gracing the cruiseline to a point.
I need to get on this ship. The bigger the better. I like to have as many entertainment options as possible
I dont know what to think, the biggest cruise ships we have sailed on are Royal Class ships with Princess/P&O. Nearly sailed on Quantum of the Seas but Covid scuppered that and ended up on Jewel of the Seas which we enjoyed. Lots of cruises on slightly smaller ex Royal and Celebrity ships. As retired people we just dont know if we want to travel on these huge ships. Dont need roller coasters, water slides, flow riders, sky thingies etc. Very confusing, I will not criticise people who like bigger/smaller ships, cruising is cruising after all.
For home use it's no good. You can't order anything online.
Connect your VPN - they are likely throttling uploads on the wifi and if you run your VPN that won’t happen…..

My experience with our home Starlink is that it doesn’t like VPN, but I’m thinking it’s associated with streaming since uploads & downloads seem to work fine.
We watched a ship tour of icon of the seas from royal carribean blog and we did not like the balcony cabin that they showed. It had a light brown wood colouring, the furniture was brown any it looked very 70s, quite outdated. We prefered the beautiful modern cabins on the quantum class ships. But your cabin looks different to the one shown on that video, with the lovely dark walls around it :) the ship looked great and I loved the bright color furniture in some places :) but found the colours made it a bit child care centre like, as if it was inside a day care centre for kids. So not sure at the moment what I think, will have to check out your video Don when you post it :) i sort of think that from what I'm seeing on you tube that I actually may prefer the oasis class ships to the icon. Very cool ship though :) id love to cruise on it :)

Can't wait to see your ship tour. When did you get the information to book your entertainment? They haven't posted any information for any of the upcoming cruises. Hoping we don't have to wait till we are on the ship to book. Had to do that once on the Harmony. Wasn't a great experience having to figure all the entertainment with everyone else ...so stressful to start your vacation.

I just love listening to your videos. I love the info, the positive attitude (99%), the good bad and ugly. I agree with all your reviews and the direct delivery. When you have something negative to report you do so with the right amount of attitude. You save the BIG emotions for the BIG deal reports. I love the personal involvement. Just returned from the HAL Oosterdam cruise to Antartica. Found real quick internet in the cabin was (shall we say?) less than other parts of the ship. Also, depending on time of day, when other passengers were trying to use the internet. It slowed to a crawl and then Stopped.

Do you think the wifi is goofy because of the # on board? RCL doesn’t have great wifi, unless the Icon provides more.
After cruising with RCL since 2019, they have priced us out of the icon class.
We are retired and will sail with the smaller ships.
That terminal is breathtaking. Love the gigantic propellers.

On our Transatlantic Cruise on Princess in Dec, Princess corporate blocked my internet access because I was using VPN. Just sayin...

How about cruise news instead of your personal problems?
There are no guarantees with live feeds, especially when so many other passengers were probably trying to livestream. Also, a VPN can affect bandwidth and buffering. Better safe than sorry, though!

Coworker just came back from cruise out of Galveston don’t know which one. Told me a pax sustained injury on water slide and they asked for blood donation then captain decided to go back to Cancun then pax passed so turned around and headed to Galveston with pax on board. They got off ship 2 hrs late.

5G is great when traffic is light. When you got thousands of people going on their ships, calling home, or checking their email before they go on airplane mode. There is only so much bandwidth. Many internet services will limit upload speed. I am sure they have some form of throttling in there network. You got everybody checking the app and as soon as they get on.

I live in a travel trailer - yes, live in an RV - and I have a tiny "radius" (I think it's called) shower stall!
Trust me, height isn't the problem. It's trying to turn around, without my butt cheeks getting stuck on that plastic shower curtain! 😂
