- We hear the story of two Hollywood giants and huge comedy stars today - Laurel and Chaplin. But wait - that’s not the partnership, it’s Laurel & Hardy, right? Well it turns out that movie history could have been very different - and that's the story told by none other than Entertainer turned West End director Michael Barrymore. He joins us to share more about his directing debut, tells us why he wanted to tell the story of these two like minded entertainment souls, and we talks about rediscovering fans in the most unlikely of places… TikTok!

I love this man. He made my childhood and I'm loving this comeback.
I'm an Aussie, but I love watching episodes of his old Shows!!! I wasn't surprised that years later, (Wikipedia), he 'came out' as being gay...
I have no problem with that, and loved his persona throughout all those old shows!! He definitely had a way with 'talking' to people/kids!!!
He came back in afterwards!

That was a bit of a car crash interview. Not sure what Barrymore was on but he came across slurring and erratic. Also Gok was kicking off about something before the camera panned over to him

Seiously? After recent events ITV has given air time to a man who has NOT been able to successfully explain his part in the death of Stuart Lubbock. Also; he treated his crew terribly, and they'd be disciplined or sacked especially if they had eye contact with him.
Not to mention his wife and manager who he treat like dirt,he didn't even have the decency to attend her funeral,the man is a vile narcissist

OMG I forgot what a CAR CRASH the TV show "This Morning" is... Its SO controlled and rigid. Barrymore is trying to entertain & they keep pulling him back. Even Craig Doyle has now turned into a ROBOT!! Ugh!!

I can't work out whether he's drunk, hung over, drugged or going senile. The presenters (whoever they are???) just about kept the interview on the rails. Not the car crash some people are saying. I wonder why ITV have been trying to resurrect MB's career for the last 20 years.

So many lovely comments about Michael. Has everybody forgotten that someone died in his house in very odd (disturbing) circumstances? A man who was raped and murdered and Michael flew the scene of the crime. People in showbiz have their public persona and a private persona and both of them are not always the same.

He has apologised to the family, I’m not sure what else people want from him other than to just hide away. Just read the Daily Mirror article that brought me here, that said the interview was cringeworthy etc. Couldn't be further from the truth, this is typical Barrymore, love his humour and a good interview. Nice to see him so happy.

Is it me, or is he slurring his words ?
I thought his speech sounded a little muffled. He's not had a live TV interview for a while, so imagine it was just nerves and excitement for the new West End project he has going on. I loved him on TV back in the day. Noone quite as enthusiastic on tv as him. I liked My Kind Of People & the game show My Kind Of Music. But the funniest was Strike It Lucky, which later became Strike It Rich.
He is quite old now and not done a live interview on years. Don't make it out to be something it's not because we all know what your getting at. Drink..

Michael Barrymore was once the biggest star on TV and the highest paid presenter. TV was gold back then. I absolutely loved my youth growing up watching this man. The funniest presenter I've ever seen, was a joy to watch.
